I had the chance to reject them, but it felt like a pretty aggressive way to try to upsell. After I approved only the necessary services, I got a notification later in the day that they had to add one more item to the invoice, a replacement mass airflow sensor. And I couldn't reject it if I wanted to pass the state inspection. I'm pretty skeptical that it was actually necessary, and if it had been included before I'd approved other charges, I'd have felt like I could get a second opinion at another garage. They had to order the mass airflow sensor, so I got my car back in the mean time. When I tried to drive it the next day, I got a warning "Check Hybrid System - Stop Vehicle in a Safe Place." When I stopped at a stoplight, the car wouldn't drive until I turned it off and back on again. I couldn't take it back to Girlington Garage because they'd closed for five days for some company event. I took it to another garage, they ran a diagnostic, and based on the results, I'm pretty sure it's related to Girlington fiddling with the mass airflow sensor. Honestly, I feel kind of scammed. The prices are really high, I feel like they tried to sell me things I don't need (and partially succeeded), and I got back a car I couldn't drive for five days. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. It's deeply frustrating for people who work insane hours to take the time to drive over (with plenty of time to spare), only to be told in a very brusque manner that they aren't accepting any more cars. It should be noted that other locations don't seem to have this problem- it seems to be a quirk of workplace culture specific to this particular location.
