This place is absolutely legendary. It is the best burger joint I've ever been to, in the most unlikely of locations. I had to live in central Delaware for several years. When asked to reflect positively about it, this place is always the first thing that comes to mind. They will prepare a burger any way you can think of, and probably a whole bunch of ways you didn't think of, too. And they will do it right. Every single time. They'll also pair it with a healthy amount of Idaho-style fries, though I highly recommend trying the chips as a substitute with their special dip. But the best part of this place is the beer selection, particularly because you will certainly not find it anywhere else in Delaware for a fair few miles in any direction. On sitting down, you're greeted with a sheet displaying the 20+ craft brews they have on tap, and tons more in bottles. I used to go here ritually every Sunday and order a different brew each time. To top this all off, this experience is made painless and jovial every time by warm, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. If there is a wait here during peak time, it's never very long because the waiters and waitresses are always on their toes. Along the walls read, "Eat", "Drink", and "Be Merry" in large red letters. The atmosphere is an old fashioned burger joint vibe, with a very minimalist interior design that really works in the place's favor. This place, with no exaggeration, is almost a reason to stop in central Delaware all by itself if you're passing through, or going to Dover Downs for the races, or whatever. Great place for burgers and beers! Went last night with some friends and all raved about their entrees: build your own burger (including fried egg, of course), pulled pork sandwich, even shrimp/pasta. Enjoyed flights and nachos at the bar while waiting for our table. Was busy on a Friday night, but were able to find four seats together after a few minutes. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let it fool you! Great food and local craft brews on tap inside. Planning to go back to try other menu items and new draft beers. read more

We stopped by Restaurant 55 for lunch in the middle of a long drive. They have a good beer selection (a lot of dogfish head) and the sandwiches are creative and delicious. I recommend the tuna burger with grilled pineapple and teriyaki glaze! read more

Took a chance and stopped in on our way home to New York. Burgers were fantastic! Big, fresh and delicious. We also had the wings which were also very good , portions could have been bigger. I would recommend if you're looking for a great burger. Restaurant was nice and clean as well. read more

A great find on Yelp! I had an Ahi Tuna Steak sandwich that was "Hurricane Style," which meant that it had lump crab meat on top. I also started with Fried Anchovies, which were surprisingly tasty. This is my third visit to Restaurant 55. My job allows me to travel around and I have made it a point to stop by here after finding this place on Yelp about a year and a half ago. My last two visits were exceptional experiences and I was hoping for the same on this visit. When I went into the restaurant it was noon and the place was packed. I was wondering if my experience would be the same given the large crowd. I would have the Santa Fe burger and a draft beer. My server was fast and efficient and, although I was a single diner, I was treated courteously and given all the attention I needed. My meal came out quickly and my burger was delicious. This place is worthy of 5 stars and it will remain on my list of go to places when I am in the Dover area. read more

This restaurant is great if you want finger food. It's not a place to go all dressed up in fancy clothes, kind of dinner place,because it's not that type of restaurant. But if you're coming home from the beach are you coming home from work and you need something quick to eat this is a good place to dine and the right price. Great staff as well! read more

A little pricey, but great atmosphere and a great meal. I enjoyed the 55 burger with a very good spices Mayo and my girlfriend was delighted by the fish tacos. We also bought a drink from the bar which had to be one of the strongest restaurant drinks I've ever had. Will most definitely visit again soon read more

The burgers are amazing. The meat is such high quality I swear it tastes like steak - good steak. Their fries are awesome and so are the fried pickles. They also have a really great selection of craft beers. The only thing I can't rave about is the cupcakes. I would say they are okay, but nothing special. Came here for roughly the 5th or 6th time with a friend. We ordered the fried anchovies on a whim. They were delicious. The "fry" compliments the salty anchovy perfectly. Came here with my husband. He got a burger and I got the chicken teriyaki. For an app we got their homemade chips and dip and it was so delicious. 55 is known for their burgers and their selection of draft beers. While the burgers are still pretty good, the beers have gotten ever more expensive. All of the draft beers are $6.00 and over. Which is high but not really unexpected. However I had a recent experience where the menu clearly stated that the beer was $6.50 for 14 ounces. When the beer was delivered it came in a smallish glass with a line near the top that clearly stated "11oz". The amount actual beer delivered was about 10oz or less depending on whither or not you count foam as beer. Since I thought there was some mistake, I asked the waiter about it. The waiter seemed to agree with me and took the glass back to the bar. A little while latter the same glass was brought back with no additional beer. What ensued next was a little song and dance between the waiter and the bartender. The bottom line was that I was told (by the bartender)that the amount of beer I was served was the "new company policy". This obviously left me with a sour taste in my mouth. The waiter seemed a bit embarrassed by the bartenders comments, this was shown in his reluctance to ever return to our table. Anyway, despite the outcome we tipped our customary 20% and said goodbye to Restaurant 55. read more

Stopped for lunch with our kids on the way home from the beach today. We were quite happy that they had a good craft beer selection after having so few options while in Ocean City. They had a variety of specials, a kids menu, and a build your own burger option which is what I went for. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were great as well. We have been there twice now and it was excellent both time. Nice greeting at the door very pleasant, the first time was a guy, didn't catch his name, second time was a young girl, they were both very congenial. Our server Shay was the best, very helpful in deciding which beer to try. We had burgers, what can I say.... this really is the first time I finished all my burger. It was excellent!!!
