Stopped here for the first time last night, what a pleasant experience! The place was clean and cute. The service was great, the guy playing the accordion was sweet and very good too. We ordered the goulash soup to start, it was fantastic. My fiancé is Hungarian, and he said it was top notch. We also ordered the schnitzel platter and the German sampler. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly, and I loved three of the four sauces they served with it (Vienna, gypsy and the mushroom one). The potatoes under the schnitzel were yummy as well. On the sampler plate, I liked the rolled meat thing (can't remember the he name) and the red cabbage, and the schnitzel too. I wasn't crazy about the sourbraten. Great German food. We had the Hunter Schnitzel, pork with mushrooms. Very tasty and more than enough to eat. Had plenty for second meal at home. Also tried a side of German potato salad. It was great, soft and vinegary. For dessert strudel with vanilla sauce and ice cream. Partner had the black forest cake. Yummy and enough to take home. Will return when in town. Amazing. Just amazing. I have not been in Germany since the Wall was taken down and what a treat. Truly authentic; I mean from the decor to the staff and absolutely the food and the accordion player was just spot on. For the first five minutes I was just smiling. I lived in Germany for 10 yrs and this food is the best I've had since I left. The portions are huge the food is fresh and the potato pancakes are the best. Will always go here and take my friends. The desserts are the greatest and they too are huge. It's a small place so go early to ensure a seat especially if you have a big group. Edelweiss is a great little German Restaurant. We went for lunch and the food was very reasonable. All lunch entries were under $10. I had the Wiener schnitzel with German potato salad. My wife had the goulash with red cabbage and spatzel and my mother had the fruit salad which were all very good. Our waitress Vicki was very friendly and took our order very quickly. I rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant. This place is small, not fancy, and pretty reasonably priced. But the food and service was terrific and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Even the waiter joined in to dance with the one man polka band who was playing that night. Wine and beer prices were very reasonable too. I had the hunter schnitzel and it was great. Driving home from vacation, we stopped in Bradenton for lunch. Checked to see what was available in the area and Restaurant Edelweiss had a high number of stars. I hadn't had German cuisine in quite some time so this is where we went. They opened at noon, and we got that early. In no time the place filled up. Must be a popular place. And no wonder, the lunch menu had a variety of German dishes for under $10.00! The waitress (yes, only one to handle the numerous tables) was friendly and attentive. The food took a little while but was worth it. The wiener schnitzel was delicious. I heard others asking about the potato pancakes (must be a specialty) so we ordered one too. Very scrumptious. This is our second time enjoying the restaurant, and I can highly recommend it. They serve wonderful authentic German dishes, and the red cabbage was especially good. Both times I have chosen their fish, and have always been very pleased. Lunch or Dinner, a great spot to get your German on! The schnitzel with the brown mushroom gravy is on my list of things I enjoy eating when I'm in the mood for some heavy duty food coma induction! It's so filling and so tasty, and gone too soon, makes you want to "hunt" for more (wink...wink). There is a guy that plays the electric accordion in the early evening on a couple of days a week (I think) that makes me think, eh, accordions aren't so bad after all. This is the BEST food I have EVER had in this town! Don't miss out on this! I'm German American so grew up with German food, and this surpassed even the food I had in Germany when traveling. We suggest the dark Krombacher beer and the Hunter and Kaiser schnitzels and the Bratwurst and sauerkraut and potato salad and pan fried potatoes. We love Edelweiss! The food is great and very authentic. Every time we have gone there we have excellent service and delicious food. We always make sure to take company there and the comments have been awesome. Make sure you go on a night with music. It really makes the evening, and my husband always finds himself yodeling along. Trust me when I say that NEVER happens. They are currently remodeling the place to look like a German marketplace which will be lovely and add more seating. Two thumbs up! read more

If I could give this review zero stars, I would have. Went to this restaurant today with a party of three. We arrived at 1:30. We were told to seat ourselves by the single waitress that was working. She got us our drinks pretty promptly and we ordered. After one hour she came back and told us our orders were never submitted.... a few excuses for this was given but essentially she never put them in. After she informed us of this she said the food would be out shortly. We sat for ANOTHER hour as she proceeded to serve everyone sitting outside and people who came in after us. After a total of two and a half HOURS waiting for food we got up and proceeded to walk out. As we got to the door the woman who "serving" us stated they still hadn't started our orders and wouldn't have be able to complete them. RIDICULOUS !!!! What a horrible way to conduct business. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I don't care how good the food supposedly is, you guys do not know how to treat people. I wish we could all get the two hours of our life back. What a waste of time. I will never be back and will warn anyone who will listen to bring their money elsewhere. read more

Restaurant Edelweiss on SR 64 at 7th Street East has reopened for restaurant dining either inside the restaurant dining room or its adjacent garden with huge umbrellas over the tables. Edelweiss is our favorite German restaurant over the six years we have lived here. The owner, Franch, is from Germany and the food is authentic - as are the German beers. Wienerschnitzel, Hunter Schnitzel and many other dishes are available at lunch (many dishes with warm German potato salad, red cabbage, sauerkraut etc are available from $8.90) and at dinner (higher prices as shown on their website). Live music is available twice each week and taped German music with vocals play the other days. At least two of the waitresses are from Germany and the decor reflects the warmth of Bavaria. Basically, the restaurant is open from 12 noon until 8 pm. The staff are all wearing facemasks and gloves for the safety of all. Tables are spaced far apart both inside and outside in the garden. This is a gem of a small business worth trying. read more

Ok so we've eaten here twice and both times have been a disappointment. The service was poor both times and yet both times the place only had 3-4 tables and that included us. The food is ok...maybe a 4 out of ten. The kitchen seems to be out of sorts when they have three tables going so when something comes out cold it take longer than its should to get it back.
