I'm happy to proclaim that it's still a solid 4 stars! Most of their business is takeout and delivery, but they do have a sizeable dining room. This place is certainly a family business. Our server, Calvin, is the son. His dad is in the kitchen, and his mom does a bit of everything (including serving the alcohol, because I think Calvin is underaged, or maybe he's just youthful looking and happens to not be Smart Serve certified, lol). Everyone was really nice and courteous, and Calvin was very attentive (refilling waters, checking in on us, etc.). We had egg rolls ($1.50 each), wonton soup ($4.50), Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.50), General Tao Chicken ($12.50) and Beef and Vegetables ($11). For 3 people, this was a lot of food. We had leftovers. The egg rolls were open ended and were crispy and full of ground pork. The wonton soup was tasty. The broth was flavourful, albeit a tad too salty for my liking. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. I liked that there were leafy greens in the soup, and even a slice of BBQ pork. The wontons themselves were filled with ground pork; more wrapper than filling, but this is the norm at most restaurants. The Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice was phenomenal. It was spicy in the sense that it was full of spices, but not hot spicy. It had a strong curry flavour to it. So flavourful and also generous with the amount of large shrimp. I have to admit that the General Tao Chicken did not look too appetizing, but looks in this case were deceiving because it tasted great. Not too spicy, and no strong hoisin taste (I don't like hoisin). More sweet than tangy. There were no leftovers for this dish. The Beef and Broccoli was good and filled with vegetables: broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, bamboo, baby corn, cabbage and onions. The beef was tender and there was a decent amount of it. The flavour was mild and less complex than with the other dishes, but we wanted a dish with vegetables in an attempt to be somewhat healthy that meal. This dish would be great for the less adventurous or those who are reluctant to try anything "too exotic." Those accustomed to international flavours may find it a bit boring. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. They are licensed but their alcohol selection is very limited. The hubster and his dad wanted red wine and there was only one choice. Luckily for everyone, they like Merlot. I feel that The New Queen is somewhere in between authentic Chinese cuisine and very Westernized Chinese food, although on the latter end of the spectrum. Yes, the place settings are set up with only forks and knives (no chopsticks), but the restaurant is in Stittsville, so you have to cater to your clientele ;) You won't find anything too exotic. However, the food is not greasy nor bland and actually has some flavour and spices. It is much better than most Canadian-Chinese food places in Stittsville/Kanata. Lots of people coming in and out for takeout, and delivery guys from different food delivering companies. It's not a date night kind of place, more a casual eatery. It's in a little strip mall, so there's free parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended!

We usually order 4 large dishes with 4 egg rolls and it comes out to around $45 with tax (for 2 adults and 10 yr old). I noted some people complain about the language barrier. I've never had a problem. Be patient, speak clearly and you'll get good service. Wan's is popular on Barrhaven - always someone else there when I pick up. If you like fresh ingredients and big portions and don't mind paying for it, I can't recommend this place enough.
