I haven't eaten here in years. I used to eat here at least once a week when I lived in Larkspur. I had dinner here last night and the food is still excellent. I didn't ask our servers name, but the check indicates her name is PM Pizze and she was very good. She offered to let me taste a few wines before making my selection and she even asked the manager for assistance in making a wine choice. I ended up getting The Councelor, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon based on Ryan's suggestion and it was exactly what I was looking for. My friend and I shared the Ahi Tartar and it was perfect. I love the sticky, crunchy rice cake that the Ahi sits on. Next we had the fall salad, which was perfectly balanced. The grapes were sweet and everything including the dressing worked on this dish. Lastly we had the Gnocchi. I've always loved this dish and it did not disappoint. Potato pillows light as air. Thank you Picco for another wonderful experience. read more

Our favorite things to order here are the wok tossed broccoli, roasted asparagus, avocado bruschetta, usually a pizza of some sort and my hubby loves the hot chicken sliders! I went here for my 19th birthday. We were a party of 5, so we ordered quite a few things. The most popular item, the Ahi Tuna Tartare, fell short for us. The wasabi was too overpowering in our opinion and didn't mesh well with our palettes. Appetizers such as the wings and brussels sprouts were decent, but the best thing was probably the fire-roasted cauliflower. It was so delicious and unlike anything I've tasted. Onto the entrees, we got the radiatore, sea bass, risotto and the specialized/ibis pizzas. Pasta, risotto, and pizzas were amazing, but unfortunately the seabass was very undercooked. However when we presented this to the waitress, she immediately got us a new, recooked one, and when packing up leftovers, added a free pasta for us to go as well. This restaurant is extremely pricy, so I would say it's nice to visit here once for an occasion, but not so much on the regular. read more

Going to Picco was a real treat. I encourage any foodie in Marin to go. We had the Ahi tuna appetizer. The baguette bread slices underneath the tuna tar tare was soft warm and fresh. It was delicious. Then came the bacon and blue cheese salad. Memorable. Their salads are to die for. I would go back just for another salad. After that, the halibut was delicious. Perfectly cooked. I loved everything. Honestly, it was a great meal. So good in fact I keep thinking about the menu and what I might try next time. This place is also a pizza place outside and offers casual dining. If you are wanting dinner after a movie - a glass of wine and a pizza might be perfect. If you want the best meal in town and are invested in something life changing good, go inside to Picco restaurant. Have a cocktail and a proper dinner. We tried them late last night around 8ish. Super crowded and busy. We did not ordered any starters only main dishes gnocchi and mini burgers. The waitress was outgoing and sociable, she helped us to make a right decision for our food. The master piece here is gnocchi's , freshly fresh with outstanding taste. I love the taste of burgers with caramelized mushrooms. Tasty enough to be finished in one glimpse. The chef used Worchester sauce instead of ketchup and mayo. And yes this restaurant is one of the lavish and extremely expensive with small portions of the food in the heart of the larkspur. Absolutely recommended only for gnocchi's read more

I have been to Picco many times over many years and I have to report that the decline has been steady. I am very disappointed, and sad, actually. I love to go on Monday nights, as the half price on bottles of wine is a great value. But, the food is certainly on a downward trend. The tuna tartare, usually an amazing staple, was bland tonight. The feta/yogurt dip was excellent, as was the special salad. But, the pastas were very mixed. The gnocchi was pretty good, the rigatoni was ok, and the risotto (a staple) was terrible. It was undercooked and bland--tasteless really. I sent it back and asked for another dish. My replacement dish, the green curry, was fine although not extraordinary. We offered to pay for both of my dishes, and they did indeed charge us for both, and gave us free soft serve. In my view, as a small business owner, I would NEVER charge someone for something they were dissatisfied with. I won't return to Picco for a while, which is sad since I am a local and in the wine business. The service at Picco is always ok and sometimes good, if a bit aloof. read more

I have been coming here for over 15+ years and tonight had my first not so great experience. The caramel ice cream is usually my favorite! But tonight it was melted and when I asked for more since there was nothing on it, they told me no it's just "hot". I asked for a side and it was a literal soup. Pricy, but worth it. It's popular, so plan on arriving early or getting a reservation. The tuna tartare is spectacular, and I also really like the street corn, kennebec fries, risotto, and the grilled chicken. The bar makes excellent drinks, and the wine list is great also. Ambiance is a bit noisy, as the tables are generally all full and there isn't a lot to dampen the sound. But the service is excellent, and the food is really the star of the show. read more

We came in without reservations and were seated at a table outside where the atmosphere is just fantastic, so no complaints there. We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer which was absolutely incredible, perfection! We got a pepperoni pizza for the kids which they loved, and it looked really good. My wife and I both ordered the NY strip which isn't my favorite cut but we wanted steak and that was what they had. It was flavorful but pretty fatty, to the point where maybe 1/4 of it was left in the place. For $53 each I would expect better, but again I'm not really a fan of the cut so I won't hold it against them. We all go out to restaurants chasing this type of experience. That feeling when everything surrounding a meal comes together perfectly. Delicious food, fantastic service and a warm ambience. My wife and I arrived around 6pm on a Saturday for our first visit and waited about 30 minutes on a table for 2, which was no big deal because we just walked across the street to the winery tasting room and had a glass. We were seated on the small patio outside the main restaurant near the corner. Our waitress was very friendly and offered great recommendations. We took her advice, got the ahi tuna tartare bites (she mentioned these "keep the lights on") and we were not disappointed - highly recommend. Tuna was fresh and the rice cakes it was served on were perfectly crisped. Our other appetizer was the little gem salad, which was also tasty and fresh. We then moved on to the gnocchi and marin pizza. The gnocchi was some of the most unique and flavorful we've ever had, with a phenomenal consistency and density. Pizza was also delightful, although I may try a different one next time. Gnocchi and ahi tuna tartare however are must haves for every visit. Finished the meal by sharing some of their soft serve ice cream with a hard chocolate shell and sea salt. You should do the same. Great cocktails and wine selection as well, and I can be pretty picky about my old fashioned. We had a 5pm reservation for 3 on a Wednesday night. We arrived on time and with no wait we received a nice window seat. The restaurant started getting very crowed around 5:45 and by the time we left inside was fully occupied including the bar. Service was great although he didn't provide his name. We started with wine by the glass from an extensive menu. I did not recognize a majority of the vineyards which surprised me a bit as I thought Ca. local wines would be there. We started by sharing their signature Kennebec Fries and the Brussels sprouts. Delicious! We decided to share three entrees Pumpkin Ravioli, Gnocchi stuffed with sausage & a half chicken. Everything was served hot & tasty, especially the ravioli which was our favorite. The chicken was small and a tad salty but we left nothing. Dessert room was left so we shared a bread pudding. Again the service was excellent & food delicious. It a bit on the expensive side so if you are going for the full experience expect to leave lots of coin but we really enjoyed the evening. read more

The only negative to this place is the noise level. Hard floors and no pads on the bottom of the chairs so the scraping sound is brutal, as well as the loud cackling from some of the patrons. If you can get beyond that, the food is outrageous. Our server was very busy but was still attentive and made us feel special. Her recommendations were spot on, and our food and wine came quickly. Photo is the ahi tuna starter. Omg it was divine. It had pears in it which was new, and a bit of wasabi. The little toasts were both crunchy and soft. Not sure how they accomplished that. Husband had the gnocchi with fennel sausage. It was a little spicy but beyond delicious. I had squid ink bucatini with prawns in a "spicy" (it wasn't really) tomato sauce. Yummy and different. We ended with a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream topped with olive oil and thick salt crystals. Sounds weird but we had to restrain ourselves from getting a second bowl. We dined here last night with friends, and I have to say that almost everything was very mediocre. The gnocchi was heavy and salty, my salmon was overcooked, cauliflower appetizer was uninspiring, and the cannoli for dessert felt like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for hours. Restaurant Picco is definitely one of the top restaurants in Marin and is located in the lovely downtown Larkspur. As far as the menu, Picco has something for everyone in terms of both food and drinks. They have a large selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. When my husband and I were seated, our waiter grabbed our drink order and then asked if we wanted fresh risotto right away (yes, please!). They have a daily specialty risotto that comes out for dinner every thirty minutes and is scrape the plate good. After the risotto, we had ordered the little gem fattoush, crispy brussel sprouts (with granny smith apples), and gnocchi. All of the dishes were delicious and had incredible flavor. One thing I really appreciate about the service is that they bring one dish out at a time so you get to fully enjoy each dish instead of feeling rushed. Between all of the dishes, it is hard to pick a favorite because they all were that good. Anyways, I can't wait to come back to try more on the menu. This restaurant was a great eatery pre pandemic. Now the menu is all of the place, the cooking is inconsistent and the service unable to handle busy nights. This week we had.a table of 6 dine there. Three people could not finish their food because it was too salty. Al dente is nice, but undercooked pasta is just undercooked, and they are trying too hard by cutting the fettuccine into 3 inch strips like baby food. The desserts are outright bad. Half of the desert menu is soft serve ice cream. The other half has items including "crisped rice" chocolate confusion, which is actually out-of-the box Rice Krispies that is also over-slated, and a bread pudding that is absolute mush with scoop of ice cream on top. Please hire a dessert chef. Side dishes do better, as well as dishes with minimal composition, like the NY strip steak. Not sure I will be coming back. Oh, the pizza side is still good. Midway through dinner we placed a pizza order as two were still hungry and could not eat their main courses.
