Located across the way from La Lomita Winery, Traslomita is a fabulous dining experience. Pro-tip: make a reservation on OpenTable in advance if you can. It's a gorgeous location. Make your way down the steps to be greeted by panoramic views and sounds of nature. So relaxing. The restaurant is all outdoors which lends to a pleasant dining experience. The servers were very attentive. The menu is focused. Though we had just eaten several hours before, we wound up ordering an array of dishes: oysters, ceviche, guacamole, and desserts. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Pricing was reasonable as well. Give it a try - order some amazing food to share, get a bottle of wine, and enjoy! read more

This place was a wonderful place to have an early dinner. We were able to sit almost among the vines. Traslomita is the definition of fresh - we had fresh oysters, fresh ceviche, and delicious, slow cooked duck with handmade tortillas. Everything was absolutely fantastic, including the ganache wine. Service and atmosphere were great. It was truly a highlight of our trip! One note about getting there is definitely try to take as much of the highway as possible. Google Maps will try to take you what is technically the fastest way, but the roads are un-driveable unless you own a jeep or other all-terrain vehicle. read more

Tras Lomita was recommended by a winery in the area during Good Friday. No vacancies at the popular restaurants so we called and lucked out. We arrived around 1:30 but could not find the entrance. Google had it at another location, and no matter which entrance, it's a ways from the restaurant. We finally found it at the top of the hill on a dirt road (like most places) and the deluxe, somewhat outdoors, bathrooms. The kitchen is outdoors and the food was really Baja great. The setting is in a little valley (between the hills) filled with oak trees. Beautifully landscaped and surrounded by vineyards. The wines were very nice. We shared smaller plates and the pork, chicken and octopus were delightful, along with the guacamole. It sound like typical Mexican but it is elevated cuisine. Service was great. I would really rate it at 4.5. Finding it in the dark would be impossible. read more

Located on La Lomita vineyard -- but apart from the tasting room -- Traslomita is a stunning location. Like most places in the valley, it's better to dine with some daylight. Every single dish was solid with a beautiful presentation. If this is modern Baja cuisine, it will soon replace French and Italian for Romantic and/or apology dinners. Actually, the food is best enjoyed with a small group, ordering multiple dishes to share. Food: The highlights for us were the lamb taquitos and mole sauce; raw prawns with black sauce (aguachile); the octopus had such a nice BBQ flavor; and the babyback ribs with fresh roasted pineapple sauce, just so light and summery. Wine: La Lomita has great wines. We had done the wine tasting first so we would know what to order with lunch. 2 of 3 people preferred the Pagano red while 1 of 3 preferred the Sacro red. Their Grenache rose is also really well done. Overall, one of the top restaurants in the valley. read more

Are you kidding?! This is definitely in my top picks for Guadalupe Valley so far. The menu and preparation was so interesting and thoughtful. Colorful both in flavor and taste. Beautiful setting in this little outdoor haven. The food here is just different enough from Finca, Fauna, Deckmans - we had a great experience and will be going back for sure. read more

We were in the Valle de Guadalupe with a group of chefs doing culinary research. Not only did our lunch on the shady patio of Restaurant Traslomita blow me away, I felt like I was in the garden of The Godfather, in an amazing way, but it was hands down the favorite of all the chefs I was traveling with. Traslomita's chef Sheyla Alvarado knocked it out of the park with this multicourse meal paired with briny and earthy Baja wines. The front of house staff was so point with changing plates and silverware it felt almost casual, execution at the highest level does that. Chef Sheyla's tortilla soup, her asparagus, her tostada, those are broad labels for dishes and yet in each her version was one of the best I have ever had. The octopus, the clams, the chicken, just outstanding. Refined to the highest standard and absolutely enjoyable as if all that doesn't even matter, but of course it does. Thank you chef for the warm rice pudding, melting the cold vanilla ice cream, with bits of crunchy honeycomb, and all the golden bites you served us on that lazy afternoon on the patio at TrasLomita. read more

Went to a couple of lovely wineries and then came here for dinner. I really don't know how to describe the amazing food experience. We were a group of 15 and had a special dinner. Everything was presented so beautifully and creatively. Our starter shrimp bisque was in a cute little shooter mug. Tuna tostada, after octopus, after the best heirloom tomato salad EVER, after asparagus (which I don't like, but tasted and it was good)...I could go on and on, because that's just what was happening with the food. On and on. I usually don't eat desserts after a huge dinner, but these!!! Just do yourself a favor and have a big shared meal here! read more
