They also give you a salsa de aceite thats SPICY but good Now let me tell you, the margaritas were top notch. You can tell it's made with fresh limes and you can order them without feeling over-sugared. I even got one to go lol I had the salmon tacos and they were good, good mix of veggies and salmon. Rice and beans were better than your average "mexican plate" beans and rice. Service was overall good, quick to serve drinks and food, and got the orders correct. We saw a video on social media raving about this place but we were very disappointed. First of all parking is horrible, we had to park a few blocks away because the place they have to park was closed. There is nothing special about this place. We ordered simple plates, chilaquiles, a panela sandwich and a machaca burrito and had to wait 45 minutes to get the food. Chilaquiles were so soggy and the machaca in the burrito was dry. And before getting our food they gave us two bowls of chips and flour tortillas very salty by the way, we will definitely not be coming here again. The quality of the food is not worth the weight. The place and the music are nice but there are other nice places with better food that you will really enjoy. read more

I've been coming to El Nido since I was 5 years old, that is over 30 years ago so writing this honestly hurts. We went for Mother's Day and it was beyond the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Our server Blanco was fine and did his best, but the food was absolutely terrible. Dry meat, dry and flavorless chicken, thick chewy machaca, and a salmon that was supposed to be grilled came out drowning in grease. Even the dishes looked dirty. We spoke to the manager Oscar, hoping something would be done, but he was completely dismissive. Just the typical apology and nothing else. This place used to mean something to our family and we even had a close relationship with the owners, but ever since the previous manager passed away, this restaurant has turned into a tourist trap. The quality has completely fallen apart while the prices keep going up. Extremely expensive for mediocre food and poor management. There are so many better places to spend your money now. Sadly, El Nido is not what it used to be, and after this experience we will never return or recommend it to friends or visitors again read more

We had heard this was the place to go as a local steakhouse. Had high hopes as it had lots of rustic charm. Ordered, ribeye, medium, baked potato, and I ordered the shrimp and in the menu it says it comes in a foil packet with garlic. The steak reminded us of sizzler in the 90s. Both of our baked potatoes were burnt and overcooked. My shrimp was way overcooked and so rubbery. It was hard to bite. Plus, the menu said it was cooked with garlic sort of like scampi, but it had bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes in it as well. Steaks were super thin and I don't even know if they were rib eye to be honest. No Marbling and if they were since they cooked them on a grill, all the fat and juices left the steak. Second time here, the first time was ok but this time the waiter was rude we asked for a glass of water and we never got it, once we got our food the waiter disappeared and never came back we needed more drinks, napkins and we didn't get any. We came here twice: The first time we came here, we were impressed by the indoor decoration and the wonderful staff. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding making us wanna come back the following day. The second day the service was absolutely horrible. The wait time was ridiculous and they provide us with dirty plates and utensils. I was extremely disappointed, and the servers were younger later on in the afternoon and didn't seem to care. About twice a year we go to Mexico and we always make sure to stop by El Nido because it is just the best! Friendly stuff, great food and a beautiful atmosphere. I always get the mushrooms with a side of tortillas and just make my own little mushroom burrito. Do it as an appetizer, you won't regret it. My only tip is that if you are in a large group to get separate bills and request it from the beginning. A generous spread of Guacamole and tasty Salsa was supplied to apply to homemade Tortilla Chips which were good but much smaller than those served at La Escondida two hours later. And, Diane lapped up traditional Queso Fundido while I ate one of two ordered Bean & Cheese Burritos put on a plate. I absolutely loved my food here! This was my first time in Rosarito and my friend said we had to stop here as it is one of here favorite restaurants here and she comes almost on a weekly basis. I'm really glad we did! I got the Machaca de venado con nopales (Dried venison with cactus). First off, I couldn't believe they even had venison on the menu. I have only seen that a handful of times. And wow! Did they do an amazing job cooking it! The flavor by itself was amazing and when paired with the cactus, to die for. I even convinced my friend to try it. It was her first time trying venison and she loved it. She even took my leftovers home for herself, she loved it that much. My friend got the Chilaquiles con nopales rancheros (chilaquiles with cactus) and eggs. While I did also enjoy her dish, I was definitely more pleased with what I had ordered for myself.
