5 stars for authentic tamales, superior kind service, clean tables, clean bathroom, and great prices. Stopped here for lunch on our drive from Portland to Seattle. Banana leaf wrapped tamales are hard to find and when I saw the reviews from other yelpers, I knew I had to stop here. These did not disappoint. Unfortunately we ordered the last 5 tamales. We also got a variety of pupusas and every single one was delicious and the best pupusas we've ever had. Very reasonably manly priced for both the tamales and pupusas. We did also order chicken and carne asada tacos. The menu says handmade tortillas. They were perfectly round and although they were soft and fresh, we weren't sure they were hand made in house. My kids loved the carne asada meat. The tacos were a bit pricey for the street tacos size tacos and the tortilla was not what we expected. But highly recommend the pupusas and tamales. read more

Me and the wife decided to try something new again and this place was a spot I've passed a bunch and finally decided to come try. It's definitely a mom and pop style restaurant from the way the dining room is set up. What's cooler is the music coming from the kitchen was pretty wavy so the added noise didn't bother us but set the mood even better. Service was prompt and super friendly, also a plus!!!! The best Pupusas I have had in WA...had the revuelta, very flavorful...took 20 to cook at home...The Yuca con Chicharron...hot, fried to perfection . (Yuca con chicharron is Yuca, deep fried, like big starchy French fries but different flavor, chicharron is crispy fried pork)...very good!! Everytime I swing through Centralia I stop by eat, and take an order home... If you have never had a pupusa, Pupusas are a popular Salvadoran dish, flattened, thick, stuffed corn tortilla, typically filled with cheese, pork, or beans...grilled hot, ....delicious...many different options...if passing through on I-5, stop by and enjoy...This place is a Gem!! read more

The tamal was wrapped in banana leaf and a different masa from the Mexican type. I liked it a lot because it's similar to Asian dishes that I've had. My wife and I agreed, one of the finest coming experiences we have had in quite a long time. We were traveling though the area and wanted to try something out of the ordinary and for us, Vicky's was the perfect choice (thanks Yelp for helping us find it). It's two miles off the interstate and the gravel parking lot and outside don't look very promising. It's basic yet clean and comfortable seating once you get inside. The wife had the Pollo Guisado'. Two pieces of chicken on the bone that were exceptionally tender and flavorful. The meat just about fell of the bone. The sauce on the chicken blew my mind it was so tasty. Make sure you get some tortillas to help get all of the sauce. I went for the Bistec Encebollada, thinly sliced, marinated and oh so tender pieces of beef that made me close my eyes and enjoy the combination of flavors and textures. It's some of the finest of its type I've had the pleasure of eating. The rice was pretty standard, the beans were what I expect you would get out of a blender, nothing wrong with them however I knew that the beef was going to fill me up so I didn't eat much of the beans. They have a sign on the window saying they will be closing on Sunday's, so plan accordingly. We will be heading back again. Service was friendly, very helpful with recommendations and the food came out quickly. Definitely worth the short drive into town from the freeway! read more

A couple friends and I had lunch here today. Everything was very delicious and I hadn't had El Salvadorian food prior to this. The pupusas were very good (we tried a few types) and we shared a chicken dish and a beef dish with a side of fried plantains. Server was very nice and helpful; I asked him what the best things were and he helped us. The place is unassuming as noted elsewhere but comfortable and there is good parking. This is my first time coming to this place and here's what I have to say. I almost walked out before I could order my food because the service was not good. The waitress spent a long time talking to other customers and completely forgot about me. The cook noticed they hadn't taken my order and she came to me to take my order. She validated my frustration and apologized for the waitress. I ordered two asada tacos and two pupusas revueltas. It didn't take long to get my food. The food was delicious! The tacos were tasty, full of flavor, the meat was not dry and cooked to perfection. The pupusas were a decent size, had enough meat and were full of flavor. Had the Bistec Encebollado - a Salvadorian dish - basically thin strips of steak cooked with onions. (In Encuador, encebollado is generally a soup with fish). At any rate, I had the steak with corn tortillas, rice and beans. All were cooked just right. The service, by Estelle, was very good. Great smile with a great voice (she was singing along with the music). The exterior looks like a very old structure of some kind, painted orange with a gravel parking lot. The interior felt like a non-touristy place you'd find in Latin America. Simple, no thrills, with a wide open space in the middle. (I wondered if they use it to dance because of the openness). I tried to stop at this place once before after a late baseball game. They were closed at that time- but I knew it had to be good. So I kept it bookmarked! Glad I did. We stopped before baseball today. We had the pork and cheese pupusas, bean and cheese pupusa, and a pork bean and cheese pupusa. Look, I will eat these all the time. These were not too thick with corn- and just the right balance of filling. The cabbage slaw (which I could just eat that by itself) was slightly spicy- but not overly so. The service was great; definitely could tell it's family owned as just one person in front and a couple in the back. Restaurant itself was clean, bathroom was clean. The LOS TRES MELLIZOS was phenomenally flavorful with a perfect char on all the proteins. The beans were delightfully spiced, perfect pico, respect the rice, handmade tasty tortillas, puffy fluffy perfect calabaza and queso pupusa. Unassuming building but good space inside. The Yucca was my favorite! We liked everything we had, so the wait between placing our order and it hitting the table was worth it. You can hear the food prep in the kitchen as orders come in so if you're in a rush maybe place the order ahead of time. We went here last Saturday and I am usually satisfied with their food. I have not been there for almost a year. I ordered Pupusas and so did my friend. The Pupusas were dry and hard (crunchy) and were mostly burnt. Was not satisfied at all I could not even finish them. I love Pupusas and have bought them all over the place from Kent to Salem and these Pupusas at Vicky's would have to be the worst I have had.
