Omg! If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! Friendly staff, clean place, fantabulous food! What more could you ask for?! I've been eating here since the place opened! My favorite dish is definitely the carne asada platter. I rave about this dish! Order it and you'll get a big steak seasoned to perfection along with rice and refried beans and golden french fries. Your platter is also garnished with lettuce, tomato and radishes. Along with this huge portion of food you get homemade tortillas, slices of fresh cheese, and sliced avocado. Prices are very reasonable. Word to the wise...park on the street because they share a parking lot with a market, and DO NOT park in the Smart & Final lot because you'll end up towed/with a ticket. Sunday mornings get crazy, lots of people pop in after mass. You'll end up with families/hungover dudes hovering over you until you finish your food and give up your table. A rare gem...I guarantee it is repeat-worthy! Oh yeah, and they have a jukebox that plays on its own at random times...if you don't like hardcore Mexican jams, bring some earplugs. :) read more

Very authentic restaurant, the food is great and for the most part consistent. Even though I grew up in the valley my parents raised me very small town so this food and venue is right up my alley. Do you want to eat real authentic Mexican food or just delicious Mexican food? Because this place is authentic as possible, but unfortunately it's not really that delicious. Authentic doesnt always mean good or delicious. Cooking with lard maybe ok at grandma's house but not at a restaurant where you make people sick. Lard is extremely heavy and not everyone can stomach it. It's a cheap product. Keep it at abuela's house please. As I walked in this restaurant I had the feeling of walking in to an almost broken down restaurant in TJ. Service is extremely slow, it's family run. Idk why but... all the lights were off. why?? The seating couldn't get any tackier. An establishment like this will only get its regulars and progress is less seen here than in N.Korea. I will not be visiting this place anytime soon. Best hole in the wall Mexican food in the east valley!! And that's saying something. For pretty much being Mexican food in "Mexico", this is THE spot! And the prices can't be beat! Almost every plate is pretty much $10. And it's all sooooo goood!!! I've never had anything here that I didn't love! I can't say it's the cleanest spot...but it's a hole in the wall. This place is amazing! The food is great, beans are as good as my grandma makes them. Authentic Mexican food. They even have cafe con canela. The ladies there are super nice. I love going in the morning for a breakfast burrito (they will put anything you want in it) and a cafe con candela. This place is awesome and the prices are super reasonable. This place is family oriented and very friendly customer service. The food is very delicious and reminds you if your eating at your Grandmothers house. The machaca with eggs highly recommended, enchiladas with shredded chicken, sopes with rice and beans, birria plate on Saturday's, hard shell tacos chicken or beef and cannot leave out the great customer service of Adriana. Menudo was filling and satisfied cravings and the chile that came with the avocado slices was perfectly spicy! It's a hole in the wall and the exterior is a bit run down, but the energy is great and familial. Went on a Sunday afternoon, the jukebox was on and people were chattering. I too don't know what people are basing their ratings on. The food here is amazing. It gives you that feeling of "grandma cooked my meal". The portion sizes are great and it's a good meal for your buck. I recommend the chile verde plate. It is very tasty and not to spicy. The serve pozole there on certain days and it is amazing as well. The outside is dirty but when you walk in it looks decent. Our server was rude and hardly came to us. She wouldn't wash her hands and she would grab chips for the table and plates.
