My boyfriend first noticed this place while visiting a friend in the area, thanks to the fun signage out front. We have an old 5x7 high-pile IKEA Vindum rug that we love but had never professionally cleaned - just regular vacuuming. After eight years, it had started to flatten in high-traffic areas, so we decided it was time for a deep clean. I called for a quote and was given a price of $70 for a hand wash, with a turnaround time of five business days (closed Sunday and Monday). Dropping it off was quick and easy - I parked briefly at the CVS next door, filled out a receipt per the estimate, paid via Venmo, and was on my way. By the next Friday, the rug was ready. My boyfriend came along to help carry it, but that wasn't necessary. They unrolled it for us to inspect, then effortlessly loaded it into the car for us. Outstanding service all the way through. After decades overseas with the Foreign Service, the condition of items in storage for the amount of time varies. When I finally was able to unroll a cherished woven rug acquired in Africa, I was heartbroken to find a hole eaten by moth in the middle. A few other areas along the fringe was also gone. Thinking maybe I could salvage two smaller rugs with a talented restoration service, I stopped in and discussed options. We settled on a cut and sew with the extra restoring the sides. I have a very simple rug. One color standard Trim (Binding) I took it to Tom at Restoration Rug. He gave me a price and I said OK. I asked if he could match the Binding Thread and he said no problem. He said it would be done in less than a week. He never called me to tell me it was done. That is bad service. So let's first grade his work. 3 weeks later when I went to pick up the run it was not even close to clean. To top it off the binding was not done. he said he would fix the issue and I should pick it up in two days. So now we are working on four weeks for a simple cleaning and binding. I went to pick it up and he was closed. he told me he was sick. That was the second time he was sick. After waiting almost another week I called to see if he would be there. fortunately he was not sick that day. The rug was cleaner but the thread he used for the binding was not even close. First the color was different second the texture of the thread was also different. This place has bad service and a bad product. Here is the kicker. There is always an excuse and an apology. No one wants that. His last one was that he is an old man and therefore he gets sick. I asked him his age and he told me 72 years old. I'm 72 years old and I never get sick. read more

Stay far away from this place. I brought in my family's Persian rug to be cleaned and refringed. The owner invoiced me $190 for the cleaning and $150 for the fringe work and said that it would be ready in 7-10 days. After following up multiple times, I was called in to pick up the rug 3 weeks later. The owner intentionally (and badly) mismatched the fringe on each side of the rug and told me I would need to pay $150 extra ("a steak and a nice bottle of wine" as he put it in his attempt to coerce me) to fix it. Now I need to go pay someone else to do the work I already paid for or be stuck with a destroyed family heirloom. The thing is, I wouldn't have written this review had he simply made things right and fixed the rug after I confronted him. Also, he only accepts cash or Zelle/Venmo, likely to avoid disputed credit card payments. Please don't make the same mistake I did and avoid this place at all costs. read more

Never go here. I have reported them to the BBB. I was never given a copy of an invoice and when I came back to try and return a rug he hands me a copy and tells me to sue him. Tom threatens to call the cops and says that he is afraid I am going to attack him. I waited for the cops to come and resolve the dispute and he still would not return my money and said I could only exchange. I got a different rug and got the hell out of there. I will tell everyone I know that lives here to never use this company EVER! I am still scared and shaken by how badly I was treated and all I wanted to do was return a rug and be refused time and again and then have this man try and use police to keep my money and the first rug I bought. read more

I was greeted with enthusiasm but not pushiness by Tom and he listened astutely about what I was looking for and my budgetary limits.
