I'm an architect who was in need of a good flooring contractor for a commercial hotel job; concrete polishing in one area and repair of an old, chipping glue covered concrete slab in another. Harry the owner came out the same day to assess the job, which is rare in my experience. He explained the options for restoring the floor and was very positive about how his crew could fix the floor and make it look great for my client. He provided us with a quote that was very reasonable. The next hurdle i faced was to get the work done quickly as this job needed a fast turnaround. Harry scheduled his crew to come out within a week, again a rare experience. Slade his concrete foreman was very professional and knowledgeable. When we realized our first solution wouldn't work on the badly damaged floor Slade came up with another solution; self-leveling Ardex which would mimic the look of concrete. This actually cost a bit more but Harry kept to his original quote. The concrete polishing in the other space progressed very quickly, and Slade was very patient with us when the hotel couldn't get adequate power to his concrete polishers. Once the finish layer was applied over the Ardex I got a call from Slade informing me that an employee of the hotel inadvertently walked over the still wet sealed floor. Slade and Terry fixed it straight away and still didn't charge us extra. On a visit to the site prior to adding finish coats i noticed a high gloss finish on a sample board Terry had. I said it looked better than the regular gloss finish we had agreed upon and asked if i could get that finish instead but he mentioned he didn't have any of that high gloss material and it cost a bit more. I didn't press and said the original finish would be fine. To my surprise, when i came back to see the finished floor the guys had bought and laid down the high gloss finish material after all, again without any extra charge! To top it off, when i noticed some of the sealer had soaked up the finish coat and caused some imperfections they worked an extra day, on a Saturday, to lay down another finish coat to fix the imperfections. Again, you guessed it, without added charge. The Ardex high gloss finish floor and the polished concrete turned out amazing and my clients were extremely happy with the results. Harry and his crew were very prompt, professional, honest and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Restore-A-Floor and will be using them on my next flooring job. read more

Did a little research on local repair specialists and decided on Stone Restoration. After agreeing on a price, Harry and his team actually delivered my table from the retailer to my home where they commenced the work. The task turn out to be much more difficult that we had all intended, it took about 4x the amount of work. They even had to run to home depot and purchase supplies/equipment to get the job done which was amazing. They went above and beyond. I contacted Harry after discovering some stains on my marble floors. We had recently remodeled and never sealed our floors. He was very responsive and knowledgeable. He was able to send someone out quickly. Alonzo was the contractor. He was also very nice, and professional. Harry stopped by to oversee the job. Alonzo sanded and applied cleaners to the stains. Cleaned the rest of the tile, too. The stains are much lighter but not 100% gone (maybe because it's white marble). Then Alonzo applied 2 coats of sealer to the floors and also my kitchen backsplash. They just finished the job so I can't say yet how well the sealer is working. I hope this prevents any more stubborn stains. read more

We had a large 4,000 sq ft office flooring project and we were going to carpet the place. At the last minute we decided to see what wood laminate flooring would cost. Harry and Kevin were fantastic to deal with. They showed up promptly to my home. They checked out all my granite counters. I have Indian Black Galaxy granite. After looking things over Harryv tells me all I needed was a cleaning and sealing. Nothing that required the extra expense of restoring. He took 50% off the quote he gave me over the phobe. There was one specific area in one of the bathroom counters where some acidic toilet cleaning liquid had spilled and despite all my own attempts at cleaning, the stain wouldn't come out. They told me not to worry about it and that they would take care of it. They cleaned two full length bathroom vanity countertops, a smaller bathroom countertop, kitchen countertops and a large center island countertop. I was at work when they did the job. When I got home I noticed beautiful shiny clean granite countertops. When I checked the bathroom stain that wouldn't come out I noticed there was still some residue. I called Harry and he immediately committed to coming back to fix it. True to his word, Harry came back out while I was at work (so no inconvenience to me! ) and took care of what was left of the stain. The countertop looks better than the day it was first installed. CAVEAT EMPTOR. It took a few days for a response. Then I had two calls from Harry and two from Hector. I made an appt. with Hector. Harry the owner arrived soon thereafter to talk $$$. After a few go rounds, we agreed upon a price. Hector and I had been discussing how to reattach the soon-to-be-repaired granite. I told him I could supply the sub board but when I was at the lumber store I was asked so many questions that I texted Hector so I didn't get the wrong thing. He said he would "handle it.". At no time were there discussions of additional monies. Hector did NOT handle it as he said and arrived to install late but with no sub-decking wood in tow. He said he did not want to shop for wood and that he needed money to purchase. I gave him an additional $40 for the wood and asked for him to provide the receipt. Then Harry started with phone calls saying the original contract never included the installation!!!! Why would I need to repair the countertop and not have it installed???? Was he kidding? Things went from bad to worse. The installed granite was still cracked and now installed so unevenly that a pencil rolled down each side from the middle two cracks which were Still There. I tried to get Harry to return and fix the issue. He threatened to sue me! And he would put a lien against my home. Nice business model swimming and scamming customers. I will be taking further actions but wanted to warn others of this business and its affiliates of my experience. THEY SUCK! THEY WILL SCAM YOU FOR ANYTHING THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH! I found him and his business on Yelp and was in a panic because I needed to repair major stains on the kitchen countertops in my home in a hurry. Initially I thought they may not be salvageable. First , I would like to say that our experience seems to be different than others. I'm not sure why ..but here is what we experienced. Our housekeeper used vinegar on our travertine shower, hence we needed to have the stones restored. After calling a few places, we picked stone restoration based on Yelp reviews. The price was comparable. It seemed difficult to lock down an exact day, however we managed to get one within one week of contact, which was fine. I was at work and my wife was at home. Two people showed up to do the work, Kevin who did the manual labor and I assume the owner of the business to monitor him . This is where it gets odd... The owner sat on our couch and asked inappropriate questions to my wife. While I understand the need to oversee workers, I'm not sure how sitting on our couch really is necessary. This made both my wife and the worker seem uncomfortable. Kevin did a great job restoring the tile, however he left the job incomplete. The reason being that the estimate didn't cover removing soap scum close to the areas where the vinegar damage was. I'm a bit disappointed that when I came home, I spent another 1/2 hour scrubbing soap scum. I guess I'm a believer that restoring stone means also removing any build up?? So after light light scrubbing, I removed it. Also Harry said that we needed to reseal the base of the shower with silicon. Again, wouldn't that have been done just as courtesy. So again, I spent 15 minutes applying silicon. I just felt that the work was minimal at best. Now back to the guy on our couch who was grilling my wife about our relationship. We are a gay couple. We love fielding questions about ourselves..but these questions were intrusive. The owner said that he was against gay relationships (all while sitting on our couch). Had I known this, we would have used another business. Again, Kevin did a great job, but whoever this other person was on our couch should have not been there in my opinion. I really hope others have better experience. We will not be using this company again. Plenty others out there who support us. Sorry :( read more

I contacted Stone Restoration when a Time Warner Cable tech accidentally put a nail through the hearth of my stone fireplace and chipped off several big chunks of stone. At first the process seemed like a nightmare because every place I called said they didn't handle that kind of repair. I tried Boston Brick & Stone, LA Remodeling, VG Masonry and Burbank Fireplace & BBQ and they all told me no. Thankfully I finally came across Harry at Stone Restoration and he not only said he could do the repair, but he offered me a good quote as well. Kevin did the actual repair and was super friendly and professional. He did an excellent job. You can't even see where the stone was cracked anymore. Harry responded to my call immediately and promptly came over and gave me a reasonable bid to refinish the granite in my kitchen and the marble in my bathroom. I had already received a bid from my previous refinishers for almost double what Harry bid the job. Kevin came over about a week later and did a very good job with the refinishing. One of the reasons that I chose Stone Restoration was because Harry mentioned that Kevin uses a good DuPont sealer. I have had other refinishers use an inferior greasy product and I was not pleased with the outcome. The DuPont product is far superior. Kevin also power washed and sealed the flagstone in our entry. At first it was difficult to understand Harry on the telephone, but once I met him in person, I realized it was due to his South African accent and had no problems communicating with him. read more

Five days before we were set to move in to our new house we decided to refinish the floors. We looked for a highly rated provider on Yelp that could meet that timeline and Harry at Lynn's Flooring was the only one willing to go out of his way to make it happen. His team worked a few very long days including staying until near 10pm two nights before the move to get the top coats on the floor with enough time for them to dry. Harry picked up some small costs (like reducers) at his expense after the job total was agreed on and kept in touch with me the whole time to assure me we were on track.
