We called Restore One because we wanted to avoid replacing carpet in a condo we were turning into a rental property. The carpet had begun to have very noticeable creases and wrinkles and needed to be stretched. We also had about 5 years worth of young kid stains - like from the time our nine-year-old was not sure he wanted to swallow the bright purple grape-flavored kids cough medicine and it all landed on the carpet. My Havanese dog also doesn't always know the difference between peeing once she's outside the dog door vs "almost outside"... especially when it's raining. (Good thing they are all cute.) Fixing all these issues seemed like a lot to ask. We hoped we could get at least 70% improvement but honestly weren't holding our breaths. Still, the chance to save probably $2000 in carpet replacement seemed worth a shot. Mario set realistic expectations, told us what he thought he could fix and what might be beyond help. He took our cost consideration into account - realizing we didn't need it to be "perfect" and helped us weigh cost-benefits for small choices such as whether to replace sections of carpet or not. We appreciated that. Mario handled the entire job himself. He was very detail oriented and perfectionistic (in the best sense of the word) about his work. To our delight, the carpet turned out looking almost new, with minor imperfections which he made as un-noticeable as possible. His price was very reasonable, the job came in at the quoted amount and there were no surprises EXCEPT how far he exceeded our expectations for how good it could look afterward. I don't mind that kind of surprise. ;) When I did a walk through, I noticed one small spot where the carpet didn't quite meet the adjacent flooring but by the time I circled back to say something he was already holding the tool to fix it, which made me feel very taken care of. I hate pointing out flaws and having service providers act like you're being too picky. Knowing he'd seen it before I did and was already on it made me want to keep his contact info for the next job we might need. Some people you just trust after getting to know them a bit. I was an apartment manager and when I had to turn a unit (clean, paint, repair, re-rent), I always called Mario at Restore One carpets. It was astonishing to see the before and after difference. He could get rid of bleach stains by dyeing the area back to match the rest of the carpet. He could cut out and replace bad areas like the time one tenant left an iron-shaped burn mark on the carpet ,which I thought for sure would mean the whole thing was ruined, but Mario was able to just cut out a piece of carpet from the closet and swap it out. Great service, timely response. Background Story: My laundry machine flooded the other day, and I live above the lobby in my condo complex. The water flooded down into the lobby for about a half hour. The carpet was soaked and started to bubble up. Having not experienced anything like this before, the manager and I thought it might dry out over time. After a few days it started to smell and wasn't drying, so I turned to professionals and found Restore One. I called at the end of the day and Mario answered. I told him the situation, and even though it was the end of his work day, he got back in his van and came straight over. He went to work and talked me through every little thing he was doing. He left equipment to dry the carpet out over the weekend, and followed up with me Monday to come and finish the job. He not only cleaned the spot that had been soaked, but cleaned the entire lobby and charged the same price. No idea how his price compares, but he went above and beyond in my opinion. I have used Restore One to clean the carpets in my condo between tenants for about 3 years. When they clean your carpet they do a good job but, over the course of the years, their ability to show up on time (or *at all* on the day that you have booked) has dramatically declined to the point where I will now be looking for an alternate carpet cleaning service as I cannot count on Restore One any longer. I contacted Mario on Friday afternoon regarding having my carpet cleaned the following week. He suggested a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon appointment time. I told him that Tuesday would be great and followed up with my new tenant letting him know that the service had been booked and that I could hand over the keys that evening. Today, Mario sent me the following email: "Sara, sorry, I had already given the Tuesday appointment to another customer that I had not entered in my computer's calendar and I forgot about it. Are yo able to do Thursday morning or Friday? Thank you!" No, unfortunately I cannot just move my appointment to Thursday or Friday at this point - I have a tenant expecting to move in prior to then - so I guess that I will be looking elsewhere. If this is reflective of the level of customer service that Restore One is currently offering, I suggest that everyone else do the same. read more
