Many years ago, when I had my first Oriental rug, I did some searching for a company that specialized in cleaning Oriental rugs, and that's how first found D.A. Burns. Ever since, whether it was an Oriental rug or just a wool rug, I brought them to D.A. Burns because I knew they'd do a first-rate job. Other factors I appreciate: the clarity of their pricing and the reliability of the estimates, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the fact that they carry the rugs to and from my car, the ease of parking. Dropped off two rugs, one medium sized one runner for cleaning and minor repair. Very satisfied with results and experience was great. Rugs look great, I thought the price was fair, employees were great to work with both in person and online. I also loved seeing their Ballard site, someone actually briefly explained the machine to me. Got new carpet pads cut out, maybe a bit on the pricey side. Couple of small glitches: 1. The work order wasn't fully entered in the first email I got after dropping off the rug. Corrected promptly after I let them know. 2. I paid for the order and was supposed to get an email with the payment receipt, but I don't seem to have gotten it yet a couple days later. All in all, highly recommended. read more

D.A. Burns did a MAGNIFICENT and complete restoration of an intricate handwoven Isfahan prayer rug I bought in Karachi Pakistan in 1979. I thought It was damaged beyond belief. The prayer rug was on a wood floor, partly covered, which had become a breeding space for clothes moths in the covered area. One quarter of its surface area had been greatly damaged. D.A. Burns restoration was stunning. . Their antique rug restoration services are of the highest quality imaginable. D.A.Burns had also cleaned and restored a larger 50 year old room rug for me years before. Very much worth the price paid in each case. read more

I did business for several years with DA Burns and sons and never had a problem. The last time I had them a gentleman came that I had never seen before and I asked him how long he worked with them and he said two years. That when DABurns sold the company he knew the new owners and they asked him if he wanted a job and he said yes. I have tried several times to find out when the company was sold and cant get an answer. It's legal when the company sells their business that they can sell the name with it. I don't think it's fair To the customers to not know who they're dealing with. If they did not sell the company and my information is wrong, I apologize but I still didn't get good service. And when you go online, the people that work for them did not work for them when I had my carpets cleaned in the past. read more

D.A. Burns knows what they are doing - professional, efficient, and service-oriented.

I brought a carpet to DA Burns that was extremely important to me. It had been kept in a windowless hallway in a shoes-off home and was in stable condition -- it simply needed cleaning. At the same time, I was having wool remnants trimmed into area rugs. I regret not photographing the carpet before leaving it with them. When I returned a few weeks later and brought the cleaned carpet home, I was shocked. The colors were dramatically altered. The cream areas are now yellowed, the reds have shifted toward orange, and there are odd color striping patterns that were never present before. A cleaned carpet should look brighter and refreshed -- not duller and discolored. The fringe is also severely damaged, with many broken strands. It looks uneven and chopped, like a bad haircut. This was not the condition of the carpet when I delivered it. DA Burns claims this is how I brought it in. Both my wife and I strongly disagree. They produced photos they say were taken at intake -- and interestingly, those photos show the carpet looking exactly as it does now, post-cleaning. I do not believe those photos accurately represent the condition of the carpet when I dropped it off. Digital timestamps can be altered, and unfortunately I no longer have confidence in their documentation. This was my first experience with DA Burns, and it will be my last. Instead of acknowledging what appears to be significant damage, they denied responsibility. That is deeply disappointing. This carpet meant something to me. I trusted them with it. I should have cleaned it myself. I cannot recommend DA Burns based on this experience. The photos below show the dramatic difference between before and after cleaning. D.A. Burns has been around for decades. I was first introduced to them in 1995 when I bought a new home. I used a product for cleaning my carpet. 25 years later, I used them to reduce a 6x9 feet rug to 4x8 and surge the edges. They were able to answer my questions on the process. They were friendly, patient and knowledgeable. I got a 20% discount for dropping off and picking up the rug myself. Price was reasonable even without the 20% discount. Most recently, I used them to seal my kitchen countertops. Again, they were patient with my questions through the whole process, from estimate, scheduling and doing the work. They did cancel twice and kept the third appointment. They weren't on the same page on how long the work would take. The person to estimate the job said it would take 6 hours, the scheduler said it wouldn't take that long, and the person doing the actual work took 1 hour and 15 minutes. Be prepared not to use the countertops for 24 hours. Each interaction with DA Burns has been friendly and professional. Each employee is knowledgeable about the business. read more

We purchased two custom-cut carpet runners from Home Depot and needed the short edges accurately cut and bound on the ends. When searching the web I found DA Burns, called them and learned that they do that sort of project. We took the runners to the Bellevue store, got a very fair quote and left the runners there to have the job done. We were quoted 2 weeks for completion. At the two week point, we received a notice of completion and to come in and pick them up. Everything was done perfectly and the color match on the end cut binding was great. I learned since my last review of DA Burns that the discount of 20% for in-person dropping off and picking up the carpet had already been applied to my invoice. I do not object to the business charging a 3% additional fee if one pays by credit card. I just wanted to know about this policy upfront so I could be prepared to pay by check.
