I've been seeing Dr Cremers dry eye specialist for about 5 years now. Due to my severe dry eye &…read moreother eye issues I have seen several ophthalmologists in last decade. She is an absolute gem. Very kind, empathetic and super knowledgeable about all possible treatments for dry eye. She is super passionate about her work (she also has dry eye disease herself so she lives it) and it shows. Her office has the most cutting edge tech I've ever seen. They are always thorough at every visit. Her staff is friendly and works very hard to make sure you are comfortable & I feel truly cared for. She always asks if she can answer any questions I might have. She is highly competent . I have had several IPL sessions & currently am undergoing amniotic membrane treatment for my dry eye which is really helping. No other doctor had even ever mentioned these treatments to me as options. Procedure post IPL involves some discomfort that is to be expected but it is very brief. Amniotic membrane placement to me is like putting in a big contact lens. Fast and pain free. You have to keep the patch on 2 days , not convenient but an excuse to rest and let the eye heal. Additional info -this office thoroughly checks insurance status w deductible etc so there have been no surprises w treatment costs. Yes there are wait times but as a medical professional myself I can tell you this is actually a good thing in the sense that means they are not rushing w their work and making sure to give each patient proper care. Timeliness can be nice but w all unexpected things that can happen in day to day often means ppl are being rushed in and out if running on time. Bring your phone or a book & be thankful you are in good hands . Thank you Dr Cremers and everyone at visionary eye for all you do for your patients. Keep up the great work. It does not go unnoticed and I have referred colleagues to you.

NOTE: I filled my lens prescription elsewhere, so this review is just about the eye doctor…read more PROS * Staff were mostly fine * Eye doctor (when I finally saw her) did a good job CONS * Parking - Park at Java Nation or Whole Foods, buy a drink, and walk over to this location. I couldn't figure out how parking works in this area. * Clear your schedule - As other reviews have noted, speed is not their strong suit. Definitely the longest trip to an eye doctor I've had. I came in on a Fri morning, and it took them about 15 mins to get me in. Had an eye test done and then sat around for another 20 mins. Another test. Another 15 minutes before I finally see the doctor. All told it was a 1.5 hour visit for maybe 5 minutes interacting with staff. * Skip the "flip the eyelid" test. One of the young techs that worked here tried to do this and it was super uncomfortable. I don't even know if his hands were clean. He couldn't seem to do it and I couldn't get over someone jabbing their finger in my eye. He ended up just really frustrated. When I finally saw the eye doc like 45 mins later, it didn't even come up. * Masking - While waiting I sat in a crowded waiting room, nobody wearing masks, which I guess is fine now but when cold and flu seasons rolls back around ... OTHER They required two visits - They couldn't see me for both glasses and an eye doctor check (i.e. check for problems). This was supposedly due to an insurance requirement, but the incredibly slow service means I had to come back and dump another entire afternoon in a month. NOTE: You'll see a very reasonable reply from the company below this review. Please note that I haven't been back because a friend visited months later and said they had the same experience. As requested by yelp, that does not impact my review, but it did keep me from trying them again.

Hi, I'm Caleb Stewart. I originally had Wavelight Optimized LASIK with Dr. Andrew E. Holzman at TLC…read moreRockville's location on August 6th, 2021. Initially, I had a great experience. Every staff member was sweet and I was confident that the surgery would go well. Unfortunately, there were a few red flags that I will list below. 1. The technicians there claimed that my prescription was stable when it wasn't and my vision quickly regressed after a year. Furthermore, I had prior dry eye disease and the technicians lied and stated that it wouldn't be an issue...now I have a severe case years out. 2. I didn't get to meet with my surgeon to discuss risk of complications, if I'm a true candidate or not etc. 3. The staff didn't explain other alternatives such as ICL and didn't give a solid recommendation on what path to take. If I was told to wait until my mid 20s I probably would've had a better outcome and less chance of regression. 4. TLC decided to change the location of the surgery from Tyson's Corner to Rockville last minute also modifying the laser as well which could have had an effect on my overall outcome. Suddenly, when I developed all these complications TLC offered little to no help in contrast to how I was assisted pre-op. I now have day-time starbursts, haloes and severe dry eye which induces irregular astigmatism...causing awful ghosting that can only be possibly fixed through scleral lenses or extensive dry eye treatment. I've had to quit many of my hobbies and it made my quality of life way worse for a while. They only offered "enhancement" surgeries to improve my vision which are not FDA approved and make complications worse for many patients. I'm still not comfortable with my vision at 23, a little over two years out and feel like I got scammed and betrayed by the center. They also didn't give me a refund as well despite my efforts to be polite and courteous about the situation. What makes the situation worse is that I had to go out of my way to see my original surgeon since he opened up his own company just to see what occurred. I was given pupil-shrinking drops and was shrugged off and told that everything was in my head, it was very disheartening. I've had to take so much initiative seeing all kinds of specialists just to get help, it's very draining for a young man to go through and I'm thoroughly disappointed with my experience here. I'll attach some photos below of my prescription before and after and various photos of symptoms that I suffer with to this day. This surgery has ruined my early 20s due to the complications that I face daily. I'm stuck with poor vision that does not hold a candle to how it was before surgery and I am stuck with fluctuating ghosting vision. The center asked that I provide a $200 payment to sign up for a "lifetime plan" to get a second surgery which is not FDA approved. They are a joke. The center only has one line of communication (patient care manager team) and have no ounce of empathy and compassion in their bodies whatsoever. If you develop complications and issues, expect to be on your own and not get any assistance at all from TLC. Whenever I would reach out for genuine help and the ability to obtain a refund or at least some compensation they couldn't do anything. It's hilarious because whenever I mention making a payment towards my surgery they are enthusiastic and respond quickly but other than that, crickets. Please do not get refractive surgery if it's not needed, my life is now ruined thanks to these people. I can't enjoy my hobbies 100% like I used to or start to drive. This is by far the worst doctor's office experience I have ever had…read more I say this as both a patient and registered nurse. I called and was able to get a same-day appointment, for which I was really grateful. When I arrived, it took 3 staff about 15 minutes just to get me checked in. Eventually, one of them called me back, I don't know what her job description (none of them were wearing badges). She took me to a patient room and began my patient intake. That took approximately 40 minutes, despite me helping her spell certain words, and offering to help her spell others. I communicated my health complaints: blurred/double vision and floaters, and my concern that it may have been caused by a medication I am on. She dismissed my concern, and said that she and everyone else in her community had grown up taking this medication for prolonged periods and had never experienced anything like this. She informed me that the duration of my medication therapy would not suffice to cause the symptoms I was experiencing. at this point, I did not know if she was the ophthalmologist or a medical assistant at this point. It appears she was tech, so all of this was definitely out of scope for her. She handed me the eye shield before we began my eye exam. I asked her if it had been cleaned. She took it back from me and cleaned it. As a nurse I have to say this is basic, infection, control 101. 40 minutes later, she was finally done with my intake, at which point Dr. Setareh Vistamehr entered the room. The very first thing she said to me, was not hello, but "Where is your name from?" This is highly inappropriate, and the definition of culturally incompetent care. In a county as diverse as ours, I expect better. I expect you to treat my ethnic last name as you would Johnson or Jones. That means, confirm my name so you know you have the right patient, and move on. I clarified and asked, " Do you mean the origin of the name?" Yes, she replied. I responded, and asked her to call me by my first name. She continued, going on about how her friend is Thai and also has a long last name. Again, I asked her to call me by my first name. She immediately looked annoyed and flustered, and her attitude remained unchanged for the remainder of the appointment At best, I will call this clueless, inappropriate, and unprofessional. I communicated my concerns, and listed specific research that shows that the side effects I was experiencing were the side effects listed for the specific medication I was on. I relayed my concerns, along with the concerns of my primary care doctor who had asked me to see an ophthalmologist that day. She assessed my eyes, and proceeded to gaslight me. She informed me that the symptoms I was experiencing were a natural part of aging for a woman. She stated that they were not related to the medication I was taking, and the fact that I was taking that medication and experiencing the symptoms was a coincidence. She instructed me to go to my nearest Walgreens and get 1+ readers to solve my problem. I insisted, and mentioned other symptoms she hadn't addressed. She proceeded to diagnose me with blepharitis and told me to apply warm compresses to my eyes daily. She told me the condition was incurable, and there is nothing I could do about it. She looked annoyed and was short with me, as she got up to leave the room . I immediately made an appointment at GW 's ophthalmology department. I am so glad I listened to my gut, because one week later, they diagnosed me with the very condition I had asked this doctor about. They concluded this was a side effect of the medication I was taking. They ordered treatment to resolve the condition, which could have had severe consequences if I continued on the medication. My suspicions had been right all along, and I would not have been diagnosed correctly if I had taken the advice of Dr. Vestamehr. I quite possibly could have lost my eyesight for up to a year, or permanently if it affected my retinas.
