I've driven by this place several times and thought it looked basic. I then read some reviews and added it to my list of places to check out in Chicago. I'm literally staying 5 minutes from this place. On my way back from work I grabbed a burger and it's in my top 7 burgers ever. Absolutely the best I've had in Chicago without a doubt. It's so good! The patty is no joke, tons of flavor and a variety of toppings to customize your burger. The bun was soft and complemented the burger to near perfection. The fries were thin sliced and delicious. The service was super fast and friendly. I can go on about this place. I'll visit this place several times before heading back to CA. You've gotta check it out. read more

This is not your typical burger joint. It is a small place...only three tables inside. But what they lack in space, the make up for in quality and service. The most accurate description of what "type" burger they serve would be the pub-style burgers. They are pretty huge, 1/2 inch to 3/4 cooked meat patty. They are cooked to perfection, succulent on the inside, nice char on the outside. It is served with your choice of toppings: lettuce, tomato, onions, grilled onions, jalapenos, mushrooms. All of this served on a nice steamed brioche bun. I orderer the cheeseburger with lettuce,tomato, onions and jalpenos. They are definitely do not skimp on the toppings. Absolutely fantastic burgers!! I've been here a few times. The burgers are amazing. Really good char crust from the flat top, juicy and flavorful. And if I was only reviewing the burgers they would get 5 stars. The owner is a really nice guy. However I also had the cheese sticks and onion rings. . The onion rings tasted exactly the same as Burger King. Yuk! The cheese sticks were soggy and poor quality!! Well first of all let me start off by saying my son and I think we are Burger connoisseurs. We feel as if we've tried every possible Burger in the Chicago land area (south) but yesterday was the day that we had the best burger of our life and we experienced that at Retro Burger. It's a very small establishment with a very simple menu I'm sure everything else taste great but the burgers are amazing. A little pricey on the drinks and the cashier could have been a little bit more friendly but the burger was out-of-this-world so you forget about those small things.
