I initially was trying to go to the Monee location, but I assume they were closed for the day. So with it on my tongue, I wanted it bad! We tried this location. ***ROLLS EYES*** We walk in and nobody else is dining there, maybe they just opened. They greeted us, but don't offer menus. We grab menus at the island and sit. We ordered 2 bacon burgers, 1, fry, 2 waters:$45. Yikes! The lady starts bagging the food up we tell her we're eating here and she gets puffy and puffy saying that you have 2 be seated at the tables and be served etc etc. HOW THE HELL WERE WE TO KNOW THAT? DID YOU ASK WERE WE DINING IN OR TAKEOUT? DID YOU ENGAGE US TO LET US KNOW??? NO! So we still sat right there where the seats are at on the island and eat. I needed additional mustard she dryly hands me the squeeze bottle. I assumed she was pissed she wouldn't get a tip. NOT OUR FAULT. Other oatrons walk in and get pleasantries I noticed. Hmmmm.... So we clean up behind ourselves, to not inconvenience her further, LOL. When we go to dump the garbage she wanted us to use the rear garbage instead of what was closer in front. I was heading home after a hard day of car repairs, and needed dinner. I spotted this place on the east side of Harlem south of 159th a way, and dove in. This is a storied restaurant, originally starting in Calumet City, and now expanding to Tinley Park. There is a mural on the north wall with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, the old Route 66 movie theater and art of the Chicago Skyline. How's THAT for ambiance. Seating is at the counter or with tables or booths, and was comfortable. The Chicago Tribune review on the wall recommended their Bacon Double Cheeseburger, but with 2 x 1/2 lb hamburger patties, that was too much for me, so I went with their cheeseburger and fries, with a Cherry Shake. The burger was HUGE. It overlapped the bun by at least an inch in all directions. I ordered it the Schoops way - with ketchup, mustard, diced onions (fresh) and piccalilli. It was very tasty, very messy, and just pure good hamburger fun. The fries were very large for a small order - it would have fed two, no problem. The Cherry Shake was tasty and cold, just what I needed after working in the sun all day. Service was good - I was greeted when I sat down, provided with a menu, and provided with several glasses of water, since I was pretty dried out. All in all, a good visit - next time, I hope to bring someone else with. read more

Waited nearly 30 minutes for order. Burgers were burnt, crunchy, and fell apart when picked up to the point of being inedible. The cheese on the burger was almost entirely absorbed/evaporated on the patty to were it was not even able to be tasted. Onion rings were over $5 for a half filled bag and cheese fries had only a tiny amount of cheese covering a handful of fries. Not worth the nearly $80 it cost for the meal as a whole. read more

I went to Tinley park Schoop's for the 1st time just over a month ago and have been back weekly since. The food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant is outstanding. The women who works there is great. The restaurant gets very crowded at lunch and the service was still outstanding. I will be a regular customer I have recommended to my family and friends. read more

Today being Valentine's Day, definitely made restaurants nearby very crowded. Four of us went to Schoops to have a great dinner this evening. The place was really crowded, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Two of the staff scheduled to work tonight called in and decided not to come in. This didn't affect the food prepared or the experience we had.. The service was great, the food was excellent, and there was nothing we had to ask for. Place is 5 stars! Food is some of the best around, always made fresh and delicious every time! The burgers are fantastic! Everything you order comes out fresh and tastes amazing! Prices are reasonable which is wonderful. The owner is a kind, sweet lady who is always personable and friendly and a joy to see every time. Interior is a cute little diner that makes you feel at home! Sometimes you have to wait a couple extra minutes but be patient..it's well worth it. This was my first time ever trying this place. I've heard a lot of good things from other people so I wanted to give it a try. The burgers are actually pretty big, and they do really fill you up. Unfortunately I felt like the actual meat itself had very little flavor. It tasted good with all the condiments, but if you just try the meat alone it didn't taste like anything. I also did not really care for their fries. My fries tasted like they were refried. This place reminds me a lot like Steak 'n Shake, but I think Steak n Shake burgers are a little bit better and definitely a lot cheaper. read more

Takes me back to a time in the 90's when diners were more popular. Such a cute, clean, fun, & friendly place. We enjoyed our burgers and shakes and it definitely ranks high for deliciousness. Well despite the long travel from the north side. this location for the first time compared to the other locations both the Tinley Park Mall they close and the one in Calumet City have two different ambiences. I feel like I'm going to either potbelly or corner bakery the way the setup is or maggiano's whereas with the one in the mall it feels like a typical food court setup and then the one in Calumet City feels more like a hole in the wall but nevertheless if the food is consistent with the hamburgers complaining. Well so far the food has been very good and I was really hungry for lunch. Originally I wanted to come here on Labor Day Monday for dinner but they close too early by the time I reach going here. So I decided to come today I was greeted nicely to the server who asked if I was going to be dining in there checking out and I told her I was dining in. She was the only one serving despite the place starting to get busy for lunch. Otherwise the double cheeseburger was delicious the way they cooked it and was satisfying. I've been to so many franchises for hamburgers it's either I don't know how it's been cooked for double cheeseburgers but you know compared to Culver's which is also good as well as that burger joint or even steak and Shake which I went last week they were good hamburgers but they weren't filling and they charge a lot equivalent to a shoots double cheeseburger around $11 I don't want to gain weight but at the same time I feel like I need to get more bang for my buck on what I spend for fast food as well as the quality of how the cooking goes on making a hamburger. 4 out of 5 stars because I guess I expected the root beer float to be served in a glass or glass mug or milk shake glass and it was served in your typical wax cup. Nice place to sit down and eat at, has a retro diner vibe to it. Very friendly staff, courteous and professional, if anything is wrong with your order they will make it right. Their sandwiches and soups are great, but I thought the garden salad was a bit bland. Needs more types of vegetables like romaine, onions, and mild peppers. read more

Its so disappointing that in Tinley Park for years they've had a problem with keeping their chili available in the evening during the fall and winter time. It's gotten to be so much in the past few years that we call before we go to make sure. Today though at 4:30 we went in thinking it was early enough but again was told they're out of chili , saying it was busy earlier . They know so many people are looking forward to chili so I don't know why they don't make more but they always have an excuse it was busy. The fact that we often have to call ahead shows there is a huge problem there with the management not being able to plan ahead to supply enough food to their customers . As early as 4:30 in the afternoon , when they're open for quite a few more hours is unacceptable and it happens so frequently. It's disappointing because I leave and I'm sure I'm not the only person that doesn't stay if you're looking forward to chili. I guess they don't care as long as they sell it earlier and figure who cares if the rest of the customers turn away, but I hope as corporate you do care . There's one individual woman that serves everyone there and I must tell you if she was rated by personality she would score low because I think she has none. I'm not saying she's rude. This franchise location is the worst! They make their own hours, choose who they want to serve, and the "owner" is just rude. I've dined there before and tried to support our local businesses but they are slow.....she is the only server and the food takes forever, maybe they can't keep up. The website says they close at 9, get there and the door says they close at 830, but my family couldn't get sat at 740....owner says she closes whatever time she wants after 8. I DO NOT recommend this location. The one in Monee is a lot more friendly and family oriented. read more

I have gotten carry out a few times at the Tinley location. While the burgers are always very good. I am a soup person and love chicken dumpling soup and I would get this when available but the last two times recently it was mostly just broth with very little chicken and maybe one dumpling. Tinley Schoops is an old school diner with classic booths and retro murals on the walls. Always clean, and the service is warm and friendly. One of my favorite eats is a good old fashioned burger and fries, and for me this is the only place to go! The burgers are juicy and generous - look hand patted and taste like real meat! Want everything on it? They've got it! The bun is fresh and tasty - a bit shiny like brioche, and fries are large, smooth cut and delicious. Not the place to go if you like franken foods or complaining! Very nice 50's style diner. We arrived just before closing. My double cheese burger was enormous and delicious. Fries and a chocolate malt completed the meal. Interior was charming and based on the 50's style diners. Service was average, but I based that on us arriving close to closing. Prices were a little high , but the portions justified the cost. Went yesterday for "National Cheeseburger Day". Don't usually eat burgers out as most I have had are not good! But we gad eaten years ago in Lansing at Schoops so thought we would try it again. My friend and I went and of course ordered cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings. Waitress was fast and very friendly. I think she was the owner. Burgers were best I have had!!!! Just like years ago.
