Cool store hands down. If your looking for something and need it right away, great. But extremely OVER PRICED. They will by your game for 4 bucks and sell for 30. Shop around. Excellent selection, friendly knowledgeable staff and surprisingly fair trade in values. Ignore the reviews from the cry babies that didn't get what they wanted for their games that they were too attached to. Sentimental value doesnt pay the bills. They will tell you upfront that they can only offer store credit for titles that they have many copies of in inventory. Also you cant blame them for not taking PC games or DLC. Some of the more obscure collectors stuff is a bit overpriced but that's to be expected for the convenience of having such a huge selection in one place. Definitely for collectors/hard core gamers. You want casual gaming stick to gamestop. read more

Very good selection but that's where the pros end. They had several fake games in there you can get for a dollar or two from China on eBay. The games are extremely overpriced, some examples include $3 ds games they were selling for $30 and a $4 wii game being sold for a whopping $70. Great place to look for games you may be interested in, but don't waste your money. Look here, buy elsewhere. read more

Stopped by here yesterday to look at some N64 games and wow.. this store has one of the biggest collections of games I've EVER seen! I don't care what game you're looking for or on what console, you MUST check here initially. The prices are pretty much what you would expect to find in a local game store, slightly high but not a drastic difference from what you'd find at Gamestop. The folks were kind, helpful and very courteous! I will most definitely be returning to this place for all my gaming wants and needs!! read more

These guys know their games on just about every single system and format. The staff is awesome. I think they have some of the best selection in the area and the products are in pretty good shape. I think the only problem I have with retro is they started out so strong with great prices and inventory and amazing trade in value to build a clientele and then they fell into the same old commercial pricing/trade value like gamestop and game trader. Such a shame because the staff is so much better than that. read more

Retro game trader is a store with a great supply of games and even a room for customers to play the games themselves. The workers are friendly, respectful and knowledgeable. My only complaint from my experience is that they need to put more time into checking that what their actually selling is working. I purchased an Xbox bundle with a couple games for a good price brought it home and found that they had given me the wrong power adapter. That is fine, mistakes happen. So I used my PS3 power adapter to see if anything else was wrong. Pop in halo, to find that the controller will disconnect with any slight movement. So I went back today to get those problems fixed. The gentleman at the counter was more than helpful and replaced my things (and even through in a couple games in at no charge). However, I bring everything back home and power adapter doesn't work. It fits but won't power the system. Tldr: Great store, lovely people just be ready to bring it back if it doesn't work. read more

This place is very impressive. Best selection of SNES games I've seen since I was buying them at Walmart when I was a kid. I would give them five stars if not for the inconsistent pricing. I don't mind paying a little more when shopping local, but some of the games are ridiculously priced. That being said: some of them are much cheaper than elsewhere. I think the owner is just too apathetic to research the price of some of the games. Overall, though, I really enjoyed my visit. Great place to buy OEM accessories and hard to find games. read more

Tired of wasting my money here. The countless times things break down or just stop working after a week really gets taxing after awhile. Plus you won't get your money back for something not working after 3 days or later. I like supporting local stores, but I'm not going to support a place that sells trash advertised in a clean box. Also, whats up with the trade ins??? You bring stuff in, they claim they'll take anything then they offer you almost nothing, and tell you "oh we have too much of that", if that's the case why waste my time in the first place??? why not just tell me you're not taking those titles or that system or you have too many, from the very start??? Should have stopped coming here a long time ago after hearing the owner swearing in their work area and ragging on his employees several times, and trying to act like no one could hear it. Well I did, and I should have just stopped coming all together then. read more

Retro Game Trader is WAY overpriced. While they do have a huge selection I dont like paying double what game are actually worth. When I tried to nicely tell them the prices were too high the staff changed their attitude from semi friendly to buy something or get out. I wont be back read more

I really like browsing this place for the nostalgia. Like the other reviewers, I'd say the prices are definitely on the higher end which is keeping me from putting 5 stars. Having an actual store Vs. an ebay store is probably in direct correlation with the pricing. Some of the pricing is right in line with market, You just have to look around. I've had a few discs buffed here, and they're upfront about whether they think it's recoverable or not. The staff is friendly, and the prices are adjusted depending on the condition of the games. This place is terrible! They treated me like crap when I went to sell a bunch of games that are very rare and def what a used /classic gaming store would want. They advertise in big letters that they pay cash for used games but when we were showing them what we had they said they WOULDNT give us cash for any of our items because the person behind the counter didn't want to put in any time to research how much any of them were actually worth. I have bought quite a few games from this store and would consider myself to be a loyal customer here and they never treat me with respect. This place is overpriced to begin with but I am an avid believer in supporting small businesses just starting out. But not when they treat me with the kind of disrespect I just witnessed. read more

We came here to pick up a used GBA SP and a link cable. Everyone we spoke to was really helpful. They have a huge selection, and prices are pretty reasonable, especially when looking at prices at other independent game shops in town. The only downside is they don't appear to carry brand new games in stock on release day. I understand that since it seems they are specializing in older games anyway, but I would much rather give this place my money than Gamestop. Definitely will return. read more

This place has a great selection and it's fun chatting with the staff- but I only go in there if I can't find it elsewhere, and I'm done trading with them. I'd recommend only going in with cash- you'll be very disappointed if you're expecting any value out of your trade-ins. A more apt name would be Retro Game Stop. They'll give you $3 (credit) for a game and then put it on the shelf for $50+. They assess all trade-ins in a back room, as well; seems pretty shady and rubs me the wrong way. If you can't manage to sell what you don't want online, you may as well donate it or give it away; unless you live near the shop, you'll spend more money in gas getting there than you'll get in trade-in value. I've made two trips to trade games there- walk in with a box of good games and walk out with 1-2 individual titles. If you have a mountain of games destined for the dumpster and want to buy a pack of gum, this is your place- otherwise, be prepared to *empty* your wallet for that sweet retro goodness. read more
