What. A. Vibe. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by walls of records, an open kitchen, plush velvet furniture, and, of course, a disco ball. I've been here twice now, once for happy hour and once for dinner. I wasn't a fan of happy hour only being available on the patio. Since it was summer, I think most people would've preferred the AC over 90-degree heat. My dinner experience, however, was much better. My friend and I were seated inside and ordered the cucumber salad, sweet potato tempura, and Hokkaido scallops. For drinks, we had the Strawberry Paloma and the Calypso, which came with a fiery shot of rum served inside a lime. Our server, Priscilla, started us off with complimentary marinated olives. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout the meal. The cucumber salad was savory and refreshing. The sweet potato tempura had an incredibly crispy exterior with a slightly candied crunch. It was delicious. The Hokkaido scallops, served on a tostada with a savory sauce underneath, were another standout. To my surprise, the restaurant transforms into more of a club after 9 p.m. We wrapped up our 7 p.m. reservation around 10, just as the DJ started and the party crowd rolled in. But also cute for a date, but it does get really loud as it slowly turns into a club / bar after dinner. Loved the fresh ingredients and how the tostada kept its structure each bite. 3/5 Grilled Filet Skewers: good, but, would I get it again? Maybe not unless I were to share it with someone.. Finally got to check out Stereo41! Saw some IG reels of their huge chicken wrap and been wanting to try it for the "longest" hahah. The wrap, salad, and bowls are available for lunch only, M-F until 5pm. Protein options: chicken, lamb, beef, trout, and halloumi & fig Omg, that wrap was actually huge! Like the longest I've seen! It was sooo good and flavorful! I love the side salad and cucumbers. It was a "light" meal and everything tasted fresh! The chicken was grilled perfectly and had a nice char. I loved everything about it! My bf got the chicken bowl and he also really enjoyed it! The rice was fluffy, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the yogurt/white sauce along with the stewed chickpeas went well together. I don't drink alcohol like that, so we opted for the Sour Candy, which was passionfruit, tamarind, lime, and soda. It was actually so good?! Would get again. Service was great; food took a bit to come out though, but was worth it! You can watch them prepare and cook the food from their open kitchen! The ambiance is also a vibe; it's the kind of place you want to love. Our server had us waiting 20-30 minutes both to get our order taken and to receive the check, and it was hard not to notice she was mostly engaged in other convos or not tending to us at all. I made a lunch reservation. I walked in to be seated, no one was there when I arrived. I waited about 5 -8 minutes, meanwhile took a few pictures. I started with the sour candy mocktail, $13. The drink was good, just like sour candy, light on tamarind flavor but it had over 50% of ice. I believe it watered down the flavor. Then I got one hamachi tostada, it was delish. The chili oil stood out. It gets messy eating it, but very good flavors. Slightly like a ceviche tostada. The price of $28 I felt was high for a small appetizer. The chicken wrap was delish and packed with meat. I liked the olives in it. It came with a cucumber salad which paired excellent. The cucumber salad was full of flavor. I could taste the mint, cilantro and fennel. Very refreshing. It also came with a side salad. I felt the side salad had too much dressing for my liking. Host was fantastic, took the time to explain the event to me, accommodated my request for a window facing seat, and made sure I had a good experience. Our experience at Stereo 41 in Walnut Creek was incredibly disappointing, especially since this was our second bad experience here. We were excited to try their new breakfast menu. When we arrived, there were only three other people seated in the restaurant. The hostess seated us without menus. After waiting about 10 minutes, we finally got up and found menus ourselves. We then waited more than 20 minutes before a server even came to our table. We asked for recommendations on the new food and told she didn't know hadn't tried it. When our waitress arrived, she seemed completely unfamiliar with the menu and struggled to enter our order into the handheld system. She did not repeat our order back to us, so we called her back specifically to confirm what we had ordered. We also asked her for recommendations and were told she hadn't eaten any. She didn't ask us how we wanted our eggs cooked either. About 20 minutes later, our food arrived completely wrong. We ordered four breakfast meals. Instead, we received three sides of eggs and a side of bacon. We also had serious concerns about food-handling practices. Our waitress served food while wearing extremely long artificial nails. We watched another employee wear gloves while touching money, the computer, and food without changing the gloves or washing his hands between tasks. We asked for the manager on duty and explained everything that had happened. Unfortunately, the response was no better. He did not introduce himself, seemed equally confused about what was happening, and offered no immediate resolution. After waiting another 10 minutes, we finally got up and left. What makes this worse is that this was our second poor experience at Stereo 41. During our first visit for drinks, one of our drinks was served with a metal nut inside the glass. We were told our bill would be taken care of and refunded. That refund never happened. Two visits, two major problems, and no meaningful resolution either time. The combination of extremely poor service, incorrect food, concerning food-handling practices, lack of management response, and our previous experience makes it difficult to understand how this restaurant is operating at this level. We gave Stereo 41 a second chance. Unfortunately, the second experience was worse than the first. read more

Just finished dinner here and it was such a great experience! The food is so tasty, creative, and flavorful. For the appetizer, we had the halloumi and shrimp dishes, plus the hamachi and poke tostadas. All of them were great! My personal favorite was the shrimp and the poke tostada. For entrees, we got the lamp chops, shrimp shishito risotto, and braised chicken. All three were great, the shrimp risotto was my favorite - absolutely delicious. The scalloped potatoes that come with the lamp chops are also incredible. The braised chicken is a very generous portion and enough to share, also tasty. We also got the cucumber salad and creamy chickpeas as our sides, our group loved both. Our last appetizer was the pita and hummus, which was heavenly and so fresh. For dessert, we got the tiramisu, halva chocolate cake, and baklava. Our group loved the tiramisu a lot. I am not a tiramisu girl, but I loved it. The service was also wonderful! Diana was our server and she was really sweet and attentive. She gave us a lot of great recommendations and was so helpful as we made our choices off the menu. We saw this place the last time we were in town hanging out and said the next time we come to town we would try it out, so here we are. The inside is really nice and the DJ playing music is great. Its not a club type atmosphere more like a lounge that has food and music which is nice. We came at happy hour so of course we tried drinks and food that was on the happy hour menu. We ordered the Little Red Corvette and the Silk Road. Both of the drinks were great. The little Red Corvette is one of those drinks that you could keep drinking so fast and then it hit you. The Silk Road had more of a sipper drink, manly because of the type of alcohol in it, you couldn't drink it fast like the little Red Corvette. For apps we ordered the Beef Karaz meatballs, the Halloumi cheese skewers, and the Mushroom Skewers. The apps came out pretty quick which was nice. The meatballs were tender, had a curry flavor to it, and the sauce that accompanied it was perfect sweet taste to it. The Cheese skewers were cooked perfect and tasty. The mushrooms skewers had some good flavor and also cooked perfect. The service was great as well. The employees were really nice and attentive. Standard falafel with Nori, yet i couldn't taste or smell the nori and they managed to sell it for $16 for 5 pieces. The appetizer platter was typical hummus, muhamara which was not exactly that. And tasty cheese dip. The fresh vegetables were radishes, carrots, zucchini . The dishes were average of $40+ and given the quality and portions it was over priced. The sides were limited. The hamachi tostada had some super fresh ingredients and great flavors including a spicy tasty sauce, a bit hunk of fresh hamachi, and some nice avocado. The haloumi skewers with figs were pretty good, another large portion which was nice. The beef salad was not bad, though the beef was a little mushy and bland. The stars of the show were the drinks though. I had a mocktail (Sour Candy) that was very tasty and well made and I had a cocktail (Calypso) that was like a classic tiki drink but with a nice hint of herbal bitterness (from the Campari) -- plus it came with a flaming 151 shot in a hollowed out lime on top! I gave the Bartender a custom recipe for a Drink I made and he nailed it. My frend had ordered their version of the Manhattan and it tasted great with the Cardonmon. Mushroom Skeweres, Tuna Tartare, and Hamachi Tostadas were really good. Definitely a new place to try before they start the Music and Live Deejay. We went to Stereo 41 in Walnut Creek to celebrate my birthday and had a great experience overall. We had reservations, and everything from the atmosphere to the food was good. The space is modern, stylish, and beautifully decorated definitely a great spot for a special occasion or night out. I'd recommend a reservation as they were pretty busy on a Thursday night. The hamachi tostada and the A4 tenderloin Wagyu were absolute standouts and easily our favorite dishes of the night both were incredible and packed with flavor. They were out of lamb that night so they were able to give us beef Karaz instead of the lamb. The cocktails were also very good and well-crafted. We got the gimme gimme gimlet and the basil one which I can't remember the name. Service was excellent throughout the evening attentive, friendly, and professional. The only small downside was that no one asked if we were celebrating anything, which would have been a nice touch since we were there for my birthday dinner. A beautiful new restaurant with incredibly flavorful and delicious Middle Eastern food and a live DJ. Visited here for a double date in late December and all four of us enjoyed the meal and vibes. The Hamachi Tostada deserves 5 stars on its own. If you come here, you MUST order it. The fresh fish comes with chili crunch, avocado, and umami mayo on a crispy tostada, and it is bursting with flavor. It's been 3 weeks and I'm still daydreaming about it! For my entree, I got the Braised Lamb Neck, which is another 5-star dish. As an individual serving, the tender, flavorful lamb was cooked to perfection with zataar, herb, and pomegranate and served on turmeric rice. The portion was large, possibly sharable for two if you have a couple of starters/appetizers. I took home leftovers. My fiancé got the Slow Cooked Beef, which was also very tasty with tender meat and a generous portion. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the Nori Falafel, which felt a bit flavorless in comparison to our other food. I was happy to see they have a selection of tasty zero-proof cocktails! I enjoyed my Palomita. Stereo41 is great for celebrating special occassions or for a fancy date night, as it is pricey to eat here for dinner. Ok, I now understand the hype about this spot! After a grueling work week, I was in the mood to try something new and fun. Stereo41 is the new hot spot in Walnut Creek, with a cool and unique concept. The cuisine is Middle-Eastern with Japanese influence - what a cool combo, and one that executes very well. The flavor combinations jump at you, and will revive even the most jaded palates. We ordered the hamachi tostada ($23), and the other reviewers raving about it weren't lying. Fresh hamachi, with avocado and chili, in a umami mayo sauce. Oh wow. Beautiful flavors, just the right amount of spice, and they didn't skimp on the fish. Nice crunchy texture as well. Do try this. We also went with a dozen oysters ($2/oyster on the happy hour menu, 6 piece per customer limit). The habanero/shallot mignonette is nice. We also had the trout sashimi ($16). I enjoyed the citrusy shiso sauce. Beverage-wise: The Sassanid Smash cocktail is tasty. Interesting tamarind flavor you don't find in too many cocktails. Also tried the Stereo Martini; beautiful presentation but a bit too sweet for my taste. Attractive interior, with lots of pops of color. Evidently the cool artwork was done by one of the owners himself! One thing I would change is the seating area in the dining room. Instead of tables and chairs, I would suggest more of a lounge layout, with low tables, rugs, stools, pouffy cushions to sit on, etc. and some colorful curtains to cover the large windows and create a dimmer, more intimate environment. Stereo41's other claim to fame is the sound system, which they evidently invested a lot into designing. I'm sure audiophiles will appreciate this aspect of the experience, but it's a bit lost on me, tbh. Maybe it's the music genre. Let's put on some Purple Disco Machine (perfectly fitting for the ambiance!) and I'll be sold. Strong start for this new Walnut Creek spot. I'm confident they will do well. The slow cooked barramundi was cooked really nicely, but the braised lamb neck was the favorite at the table. Super tender, rich, and comforting without being too heavy. This place is poppin! staff here are on point and always so friendly.. We sat next to some rude people who thought they were the only people in this place.. you know service is good if the server brushed off the negativity and makes good suggestions. Don't come here if you don't want to have a good time or people watch.. Such a fun place with good music, good food and fun mood lighting. Thank you for coming to the nut. Get the hamachi tostadas!
