    My build your own salad
    Kathy G.

I've driven by here so many times and I finally made it in. There is only street parking. It is a very welcoming space with an open concept. There's seating inside in the main dinjng area, out in the back under a covered area and also outside in the front on an upper level deck. The staff is phenomenal! They made me feel welcome, they took time to explain menu items and seemed proud of the products offered. The lettuce is grown on site. I ordered the seasonal sweet potato soup and so did my dining companion, but her presentation looked different like it had some cream on top. I chose to create my own salad, and I absolutely loved all of the unique choices to do so. I had the hardest choice picking one of their house made salad dressings. There were so many choices so I picked two. It was one of the best tasting salads i've ever had.

It was exactly what I needed for the day. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The salad itself is huge, I would recommend splitting it and take some home (which I did). The flavors are all super yummy. I tried the Thai BBQ before and it was good but pretty tangy. Recently, I tried the elote salad which was pretty similar but the corn was the perfect touch. It's a perfect spot to grab a quick lunch, if you're in the area! Parking can be tricky unless you're lucky

One word....YUM!! This was my first visit to Neon Greens and I will be back! First, the greens are grown on site hydroponically...it doesn't get any fresher than that!! Then the combinations and toppings are equally fresh and tasty. Highly recommend. The staff was friendly and happy to help a novice at their restaurant. The ambience's is casual and welcoming

Pleasant service is always a plus upon entering an establishment. Rarity these days so I've come to appreciate it these days. I digress... Display case was clean; loved that! Menu large & in charge; detailed...loved that too! Fresh ingredients, deliciously paired serving with greens, grains and the perfect amount of sauce or sauce-less (whichever floats your boat). I thoroughly enjoyed the shroom shawarma is avocado. Super filling; I enjoyed half and took the remainder home for dinner. Of course a pineapple palo santo kombucha was the appropriate beverage to finish off my meal. Absolutely divine every time. Oh, the vegan peanut butter cookie was tasty as well...nice gluten free treat to satiate a sweet tooth. ~C.A.

Wonderfully fresh salads with lettuce grown on their own urban farm. Amazing selection and great service.

I consistently enjoy Neon Greens, regardless of what I order. It is a casual spot with a cool, clean aesthetic that offers both regular menu items, a build-your-own section, and a rotating menu of seasonal items. Employees behind the counter are friendly and ask questions to ensure your salad is built to your liking. On my most recent visit I ordered the miso-maple salad. This is (sadly) seasonal and was fresh, cozy, and rich!

Not my first time dining here; impressed by the quality consistency! The maple miso salad is a delish mix of colors and textures. We split it and it was plenty for us two. We added on 3 things: 1 marinated tofu chunks (Not crazy for this. Pretty mushy raw and not terribly flavorful either. ) 2 the bread rolls were a bit oddly soft/mushy but flavor was fine. A fave destination for us health minded vegetarians!

Delicious, fresh, healthy salads that are generously portioned and constructed by thoughtful and friendly staff. Bright, fast casual eat in dining area and a nice area for compost and recycle - loved that. Also thought it was super neat they grow all their own greens (had no idea till I went). The umami crunch salad with addition of an 8-min egg was very satisfying. I can't wait to come back and try other menu options!

Sneaky biscuit and plain Jane hash brown

I have yet to make it to Neon Greens for their Neon Greens food but was able to stop in this morning for their new Biscuit Town permanent pop up. Beautiful, bright space! A seating area when you walk in with tables and window counter seating. We didn't sit there but the view of the changing trees was beautiful out the window. Walk up the to the counter to order, our order was taken by a friendly and upbeat person, the menu gave all the options right there. the server was efficient and asked questions to make sure our order was correct, we paid and chose a seat. Our food was brought out quickly on a tray, there was a counter with a composting area that also had napkins and utensils. The biscuit sandwich was huge! The Sneaky Biscuit. I asked for no cheese since I am a cheese weirdo and don't like it mixed with eggs, meat, or potatoes! So, biscuit, bacon, egg, and smoked citrus honey. Very good, I am also a weirdo about butter and I was afraid I wouldn't like the biscuit because of it, but it wasn't overpowering and I really enjoyed it. For my first time, I opted for the Plain Jane hash brown, so thin and crispy! I will be more adventurous next time and choose the Unami option. As I was composting our dishes, one of the employees chatted with me about the option of touring the farm and he pointed it out, I had thought it was part of outdoor seating, so cool that it is where they grow the greens. I remembered reading something about it after he mentioned it. I admitted I hadn't been there for their non breakfast options and he got me a menu and encouraged me to come back. He might have been an owner, and he was super nice, either way. Hope to be back soon!

I don't know why you'd spend $20 for a salad, but Neon Greens is worth it. I ordered the Five Spice Barbecue Bowl, a collaboration with Salt + Smoke, a local BBQ spot in St. Louis. Since I'm not a fan of quinoa, I swapped out the three-grain mix for all lettuce, and my salad came with mizuna, shredded cabbage, roasted broccoli, pickled red onions, garlicky cucumbers, Salt + Smoke's signature pulled pork, crispy garlic, chopped peanuts, and a charred scallion green goddess dressing. What makes Neon Greens unique is their hydroponic farm connected to the restaurant, where they grow their own lettuce. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the space itself is welcoming, bright, modern, and minimalist. They also prioritize composting and recycling, which makes the experience healthy and sustainable too.

I don't even know where to start with this review. Neon Greens completely and totally blew our minds. The food is so incredibly inventive, unique, delicious, and nourishing. This is what clean eating is all about. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They grow their own greens (tours on certain days - check ahead). The bowls are huge! I couldn't finish mine and it made an excellent snack the next day for lunch. HIGHLY recommend!

Clean, efficient, and tasty! Neon Greens is an STL delight, and I recommend everyone try it! I think it is so interesting and environmentally conscious for restaurants to grow and supply their own greens. Located in the Grove, this is a great spot to visit! Parking is available on nearby streets. Walking in, everything is so bright and clean! You enter the line and tell the friendly staff behind the counter what you'd like to order. You can customize your salad to your liking, whether that's through specific ingredients, or the amount of dressing you'd like to add! I ordered The Protein Caesar with a slice of the Chili Crisp Chewy Cheese Bread. The salad dressing was tangy, the chickpeas were crunchy, and the eggs were jammy! The bread was moist and had a good amount of spice. The food here is always fresh, excited to come back.

    Buffalo Chix Wrap

I've lived pretty close to Neon Greens for a hot minute now, and I'm so mad at myself for not trying this place sooner! My partner and I were craving something that would make our bellies feel nice and nourished, and Neon Greens did that and more! We placed an order online for pickup. Our order was ready to grab right at the estimated time. I decided to build my own grain bowl, and it took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to make all my selections because there are SOOO many awesome choices and additions. I ended up getting the three grain mix, hydro lettuce mix, roasted broccoli, roasted cauliflower, sweet potato, fresh herb blend, roasted red pepper vinaigrette, and feta cheese. This bowl was absolutely packed with flavor and freshness. I especially loved the roasted red pepper vinaigrette. Very unique and brought all the ingredients together perfectly. My partner had the Buffalo Chix Wrap. He said it was one of the best buffalo wraps he's ever had, and that's a lot coming from someone who is actually obsessed with buffalo chicken! Also highly recommend trying their cookies if you need a little sweet treat after every meal like me! Neon Greens has such a cool mission and process, and I love their commitment quality and sustainability.

I recently stopped by after an appointment in STL. It was right at lunch time and it was also, opening day for the Cardinals. So when I entered, the line to order was already long. To my surprise, the one lady taking orders, moved that line quickly. So I give her major kudos. When it was turn to order, I was ready. I went with a Double and swapped out the American Cheese for Pepper Jack. For my side, I tried their Salt&Pepper Onion Rings. After ordering, I took my number stick and took a seat at the bar. Once seated, the bartender welcomed me and I ordered a draft beer. I barely had completed my Wordle and my burger basket was being slid in front of me. Before taking my first bite, I admired the crisp edges and actually ran my finger around them. My first bite was heaven. It proved to me that all a good smash burger needs is; ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles. The Onion Rings were made in house and the simple seasoning of Salt & Pepper made them a winner. While dining at the bar, I learned a new trick. If you're going to be sitting at the bar to enjoy your smash burger, you can order it from the bartender. That's right, no standing in line to order, you can go straight to the bar. Great staff. They all hustle and provide friendly and professional service.

We waited for the waitress to return so we could request a different table, but she never came back, so we moved ourselves to another empty table away from the fan. She seemed unhappy about the move and told us we might have to relocate again because they were expecting a busy day. Honestly, the restaurant was empty, and we would have been finished long before any rush started -- which we were. I asked for ketchup with my burger, and it didn't arrive until after I had already finished eating. Overall, the service was very poor. Unfortunately, the food was also extremely salty -- and we're people who normally enjoy salt. I had the Farmhouse Burger with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese, while my wife ordered the steak and fries cooked medium well. The steak came out medium rare, and both her fries and my burger and Brussels sprouts were overly salted. The one bright spot was the mac and cheese, which we took to go. My daughter tried some and said it was the best she'd ever had. To top it off, our bill came to an even $100 with tip, and all we had were waters and the items mentioned above. We had been wanting to try Retreat for quite a while, so this experience was very disappointing. Between the poor service and underwhelming food, we probably won't be coming back.
