Every time I walk into Revolver, my blood pressure lowers instantly. There's magic mix of languid music, coffee smells, and foliage (sit window-side and admire the trees). I'm a sucker for a good multi-roaster cafe, and Revolver is a fantastic one. They serve up beans from all over, and they do it right, thanks to staff with eyes (and noses) for detail. Barista Soho and I chatted about NYC[1], and he told me La Cabra has a bakery there[2]. Savored a lovely pourover from Toronto[3], served hot. That very same day, I returned and had a decaf espresso that slapped[4]. Ample seating. A fair bit of natural light somehow makes it into the shop. Good for a date, coworking (especially in their next door "Archive" space), catching up with friends AND discovering coffee from around the world. Find this shop in Gastown, a short walk from the SeaBus station. [1] Yes, his name was Soho. Not SoHo. [2] Saved for my next trip to the East Village. [3] Saw Dak on the menu, but I'll be in Amsterdam sooner rather than later... [4] No idea what it was. Besides, the menu'll change before I find out[5]. [5] I love footnotes!
I had a flight and thought it was delicious. Each one was made really well. I wish we had something like this in the states.
While visiting I wanted a coffee so we found this place. Very cute shop and pretty spacious. There is a 2nd room so head over there. I didn't find our cashier super friendly. He just said this is all we have. The menu is small so not a lot of variety and truly just basic coffee drinks. I was hoping for a frufru drink I guess but there was none. My cousin was going to order a snack but I saw little bugs flying around so I said to pass. It made it less appealing. We ended up with a cappuccino and vanilla latte. Both were smooth and good. I thought the size was a little small but this was my first latte in Canada so their sizes could be different from what I'm used to. . Overall solid coffee drink though.
I love that they have so many different flavours of coffee to choose from! I've tried 4 different espressos and they've all been unique and really good. Beautiful space in an old heritage building. Theres two rooms, so lots of seating to choose from. However, this place is crazy busy every time I've been here so you never know if you'll get a seat. Oh, and the staff are always super friendly and helpful!
Former 3rd wave barista here, so my espresso standards are unfortunately cooked. Revolver absolutely delivered. Everything was dialed in, the latte art was clean, service was fast, and the quality never dropped. The shop is small but the vibes are immaculate--modern, historic, and minimalist all at once. The long community table in the back is such a nice touch. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Would 100% be a regular if I didn't live in Florida. Instead I'm thousands of miles away reminiscing about this coffee like it was a lost love story.
Grabbed a macchiato ($5). The coffee had a nice flavor and it was made well. Friendly staff. Atmosphere that other local coffee shop, wasn't entice to stay long.
Solid coffee in a convenient location! It was easy to order with the knowledgeable baristas. My iced americano was delicious and didn't take too long to be ready. One thing to note is that I came during a summer day and it was extremely hot in the shop as if they didn't have any AC on. I can't imagine being able to study or work in that hot coffee shop, but there were definitely a lot of people doing so. I recommend grabbing coffee here if you're in Gastown! Definitely will be back to try the pour overs.
Genuinely one of the best lattes I've ever had. And the lemon cake! So good. What's funny is I heard an older gentleman returning his lemon cake halfway eaten because it was too dense. But sir, the flavor! No accounting for taste I guess.
i thought the coffee here was amazing! if i had more time, i would've loved to do the espresso flight which looked great. super busy, but lined moved pretty quickly. cool spot!
Kind service, cozy cafe, and best of all - excellent espresso. I came upon opening and tried two shots in the form of an espresso flight; both were already dialed in. If they weren't, then they've fooled me. I preferred the straight espresso to the macchiato in the flight, because the notes in the coffee are covered by milk - but it was worth a try to explore this cafe for the first time. I prefer straight espresso, anyway! The retail bags of coffee are wonderful examples of specialty coffee around the world. They carry Dak, The Barn, Monogram, Phil & Sebastian, Ex Animo, and more.
Super cute shop. I'm obsessed with their coffee brewing set up. Got the espresso flight ($9) which came with two different espressos that's served two ways - plain and with milk The taster was yummy Also got a ham and cheese croissant which I really liked- reminiscent of a bagel because of the seasoning. Service was and good. The place has two sections, so if there isn't seating in the main ordering area, head to the other side
I've had coffee all over the world, including Melbourne (where coffee is taken very seriously). This is the best coffee shop I've ever been to. The taste of their pour over coffee is extraordinary, & I could still taste flavor notes in my oat milk latte, which is hard to do. Vibe is very unpretentious and welcoming. Staff is chill & friendly. Merch is really cool. We were visiting & I bought four bags of coffee to take home. Great coffee shop!

The good: ordered a cappuccino and got to choose from three espresso blends. Coffee was very good. It's a cool neat place. The bad: Cappuccino served in a rock glass. I am a traditionalist and coffee should be served in a ceramic cup with a handle. Music is way too loud and choice of music questionable. Felt like I was in a nightclub. Did not feel relaxed at all. Shop is very cramped and no seating available. read more
Revolver is a super cute, hipster coffee shop in Gastown - a really cute neighborhood in Vancouver. Their coffee is delicious, but I thought the caliber was on par with what I could readily find in San Francisco. What's unique about this place was their coffee tasting, but unfortunately I didn't have time to try it. Overall, great place for coffee if you're in Gastown, but not anything super special. read more
After visiting five different coffee shops in Vancouver, Revolver and 49th Parallel came out on top as my favorites. Comparison Shops: Nemesis Coffee: Three Stars Bel Care: Three Stars 49th Parallel: Four Stars Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Revolver really crushes it when it comes to their service and the atmosphere. Yes, it can get crowded and the shop is small, but if you're a third wave coffee connoisseur this is your jam with pour over stations and all sorts of crunchy granola goodness. I got my donut, my chai latte, and I was enjoying them while seated indoors in less than five minutes on a Saturday - impressive. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? My bubble gum donut was $3.50 and my Chai Latte $4.50, which both mathed out to be pretty much market price for Vancouver. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I am not someone who would ever be a fan of a Bubble Gum donut, but this was a damn good donut. It tasted exactly like a piece of double bubble, and while that might sound strange, my girlfriend was a huge fan. My Chai Latte was equally good, and both items were very much on par with what I had at nearby 49th Parallel. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Revolver is a great coffee shop, but in that I can't distinguish between it and 49th Parallel I'm set giving them both four stars. No Star. read more

Really nice workers, but this just is not 5 star coffee. It is 3 star coffee. If you are used to a solid cortado in Manhattan, or a nice cappuccino in Los Angeles, it's just not going to hit those standards. In there defense I tried a few places in Vancouver, and was just not finding a solid coffee. It was decent to above par. The service was super nice! Much nicer than New York and also Los Angeles. Go give it a shot, just don't expect it to meet the snob NY or LA standards. read more

Literally the only coffee shop I paid a visit in my four days in Vancouver. But I'm glad I did choose this place. It's a small shop with very limited seating. They make the coffee in front of you when you order so that's pretty cool. I ordered the Espresso Flight which comes with 2 out of the 3 options that you choose from the Espresso menu. Great for me because I can't make decisions so the easier and more variety you give me, the better. I tried their first two on their espresso menu (don't remember the names) but they were really good, a tad on the sour side - which I personally like that bite at the end. The flight comes with the two different espresso's and each with a macchiato version of it, making them four. Definitely a cool little spot worth checking out. The guy who took my order was kind of rude and unhelpful but let's just ignore that for now. read more
Great hipster cool spot except when we got kicked out of our spot for an impromptu model shot that wasn't related to the coffee place. I'm not sure what was more awkward... them asking us to move so they can take over the front section or her just wearing a bra top. Just... normal things... not at all. This coffee spot is like their coffee... dark, rich in textures, and cozy. It's not a big place ... if anything, because it's so skinny, any tables here are really just for one or 2. The spot is filled with a lot of brick and dark walnut wooden touches. The pour over station is really eye catching as well. Service is efficient... there's at least 3 people at all times here working the cashier or pouring drinks. It's quite efficient and you're quick to get your drink. Flat White - Love how they offer two types of beans from different roasters to create your preferred taste. I chose the more adventurous African bean this time. Really well made... crema is very rich, not overfrothed, good balance with the milk, and just the right punch to it. The bean itself wasn't too acidic either but just giving it a bit of an orange note. I'm starting to see a trend here in Vancouver... they like their orangey coffee. 4/5 It's definitely one of the better spots we stopped by and enjoyed a cup of coffee. I would say it's more of a take out as there wasn't a lot of space especially for groups ... it is really photogenic though and we discovered that. haha. read more

We came for the flight tasting experience, and tbh I am not a black coffee drinker and so this flight tasting wasn't my "cup of tea". My hubby did like the flight and enjoyed the experience that 2 different beans offered with and without cream. read more

Randomly stumbled in here while I was meandering Gastown. Even from the outside, you can tell Revolver has a chill coffee shop vibe! I tried the espresso and perused some of the coffee table books they have. I really recommend sitting in their communal table, slowly sipping your drink while reading through a nice thick book. read more

I really excited to go here when I was researching what to do in Vancouver. I happened to stay in the hostel right across the street and had no idea. The coffee shop is located in a really cool part of town, really cute and quaint inside. Awesome booth seating. Very artistic roasts. I had the hot brew of the day. I like a dark roast- and am picky when it comes to the lighter ones because sometimes the flavors are so crazy but this one was very enjoyable. I recommend it! read more

Revolver is a small coffee shop but it offers different coffee beans than other. They closed on Sunday that's why I never intend to make a trip to try their coffee on weekdays or Saturdays. I finally made it on my day off. I don't understand why everyone raves about this place. I mean it just ok, and the beans are not that bad but not great. Although I like organic beans the best for health reasons I still wanted to try this coffee everyone has been raving about. I quickly stopped by Revolver in Gastown. The staffs were friendly and service a bit slow. May be in order to get high quality brewed or specialized coffee would take more time. I had Tasting Flight which 3 coffee brewed one way that uniquely prepared coffee is their main highlight. It was good but not surprised me. read more
Could a coffee place get any cuter ! Great ambience when you walk it and the smell of freshly brewed coffee just helps kick start your day. We stopped by here during our trip to Vancouver and it was worth it. They get BUSY so you know this is a popular place to visit. You can sit or have your coffee to go. They have pastries etc to accompany your delish coffee. I didn't read the menu which I should have since I missed their coffee sampler option which seemed to be a popular menu item here. Their decor inside is stylish and very contemporary as well. Can't wait to head back here to try their other coffee options. read more
Wow this place is amazing! I had seen the many great reviews so decided to give it a shot! I ordered the espresso tasting flight and it definitely did not disappoint. I love tasting different coffees and the barista gave me a breakdown of where the espressos come from. It came with two different espressos and two lattes. I really enjoyed my experience here. read more

Revolver Coffee was neat because of both, the ambiance and the coffee. A small group of us headed here first thing on a Monday morning. Fortunately, there was not a long line. Once I set foot in the store, I immediately liked what I saw. Revolver has a more industrial feel/vibe to it, and there are small booths on the right for customers to linger and enjoy their coffee/snacks. Since the line moved quickly, I didn't really get to see if there were a lot of food options. I just took a quick look at the snacks available - they looked delicious! But we only ordered coffee during our visit. Here's what we got: Latte: One of our group members ordered the latte, and she was pleased with her choice. She didn't want something super strong and was happy this drink came with milk (she usually puts a lot of cream in her coffee). She enjoyed her latte, saying it was delicious, and appreciated that it was warm, but not burning hot, upon receiving her order. Cappuccino: Since we were going to be in the car for a while, I didn't want to order the option with the most milk ... so I got a cappuccino. I really liked my drink, though, and the flavor was robust. I was able to order mine with almond milk, but given that it wasn't regular milk, the baristas still did a great job with the latte art. My cappuccino was hot but not piping hot (as in too hot to drink), so I was glad I could start sipping it as soon as I received my order. I ordered the smallest size, and it was a good thing I did - it had just enough caffeine to get me started on the day; ordering the next size up would have been too hard for me to finish. Espresso Brew Flight: One of our group members opted for this flight; he's definitely a coffee connoisseur and loved that this option was available. It featured one espresso served three ways - straight, with milk and with water. This was the most photogenic option on the menu (except hard to take a picture, since the board with the different cups is a long rectangle), and it was neat to see the same espresso in three different forms! I recommend this for any coffee fiend (especially if you prefer espresso, straight-up). Coffee (daily brew): There was a good selection of featured coffee flavors for the day, and one of our group members just got a small coffee and chose from the selection. I can't remember what he ordered, but he recommends seeing what is available for that day - especially if something is seasonal. Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookie: If I got something to eat from here, this would be it. The peanut butter cookies looked divine because they were sandwich cookies, with two smaller, chunky peanut butter cookies on the outside and some type of thick filling. There were other jam and sandwich cookies available, but this caught my eye immediately because I love peanut butter. read more

My friend and I are coffee snobs. I value a good espresso or cold brew and she loves a good pour over. The options in Vancouver are endless and hit or miss. But by perusing a few online reviews, we settled upon Revolver due to photos, walking distance, and proximity. Revolver is a very hipster coffee shop. It literally has a "Coffee" sign out front. They serve espresso flights which is pretty impressive. I ordered the cold brew with room so that I could had sugar and cream. I like that they had simple syrup available. My friend grabbed one of the Keep cups for sale and asked for cold brew too. I really enjoyed mine after adding my preferred condiments. The cold brew was smooth and delectable. We also shared one of the Powerballs as a snack. It was peanut butter, coconut, and dates but I am now obsessed with finding a recipe to make them. The coffee shop has an additional space where you could work or study. There are literary classics for sale too if you want to read Fitzgerald or Dickens. They have free WiFi and the tables are communal. The point is for you to come and go but you can stay if you like. The vibe was very hipster but we enjoyed the coffee. read more

Great java is plentiful in Vancouver, especially in the 4-block radius of Revolver, but coffee here is perfected to the T. With an array of V60 brews, mostly locally roasted, and automatic machines for your pours, Revolver puts a smile on coffee-lovers' faces. The space can get crowded though, but only means the bean juice is that loved amiright? read more

Revolver has always been a standard in coffee for me with their great selection of retail beans and drink offerings. however the last few times i've been here the service has been subpar and the coffee has been pretty bad. also do everyone a favour and get better none dairy milk options. i really hope things improve read more

Coffee made to order by drip method. Many varieties to choose from and all great and full bodied. None of that over-roasted burned flavour from you-know-who. Also happy customers w lattes and cappuccinos. But get the brewed coffee in its own little pot. They even heat your glass for the brew. V hip. read more

Visiting Vancouver with family, we were walking after brunch and noticed a coffee shop that was right at the beginning of Gastown. We decided to give it a try. This area is filled with coffee shops but this one caught our attention because of its focus on fresh pour over coffee done right in front of your eyes. It is a modern almost European atmosphere cafe with two connected rooms for seating options. They also have a selection of pastry cookies, if you want something to munch on with your coffee. You can even buy a chemex and other coffee supplies here too. I got a classic latte (comes in one size, 12oz). It was very smooth and tasty. However is was a bit foamy but otherwise I loved it! My husband got a mocha, and it was amazing. It had this interesting texture with every sip and had this nutty taste to it. Definitely come by and give this place a try! read more

GET THE FLIGHT!! OUU, loved their espresso flight! A must try. You'll get four shots of espresso for $7. The inside of their shop has a hipsterish vibe, but fits in quite well with the rest of the vibe in Gastown. Their muffins and selection of pastries are worth a try too! read more
