Every time I walk into Revolver, my blood pressure lowers instantly. There's magic mix of languid music, coffee smells, and foliage (sit window-side and admire the trees). I'm a sucker for a good multi-roaster cafe, and Revolver is a fantastic one. They serve up beans from all over, and they do it right, thanks to staff with eyes (and noses) for detail. Barista Soho and I chatted about NYC[1], and he told me La Cabra has a bakery there[2]. Savored a lovely pourover from Toronto[3], served hot. That very same day, I returned and had a decaf espresso that slapped[4]. Ample seating. A fair bit of natural light somehow makes it into the shop. Good for a date, coworking (especially in their next door "Archive" space), catching up with friends AND discovering coffee from around the world. Find this shop in Gastown, a short walk from the SeaBus station. [1] Yes, his name was Soho. Not SoHo. [2] Saved for my next trip to the East Village. [3] Saw Dak on the menu, but I'll be in Amsterdam sooner rather than later... [4] No idea what it was. Besides, the menu'll change before I find out[5]. [5] I love footnotes!
I had a flight and thought it was delicious. Each one was made really well. I wish we had something like this in the states.
While visiting I wanted a coffee so we found this place. Very cute shop and pretty spacious. There is a 2nd room so head over there. I didn't find our cashier super friendly. He just said this is all we have. The menu is small so not a lot of variety and truly just basic coffee drinks. I was hoping for a frufru drink I guess but there was none. My cousin was going to order a snack but I saw little bugs flying around so I said to pass. It made it less appealing. We ended up with a cappuccino and vanilla latte. Both were smooth and good. I thought the size was a little small but this was my first latte in Canada so their sizes could be different from what I'm used to. . Overall solid coffee drink though.
I love that they have so many different flavours of coffee to choose from! I've tried 4 different espressos and they've all been unique and really good. Beautiful space in an old heritage building. Theres two rooms, so lots of seating to choose from. However, this place is crazy busy every time I've been here so you never know if you'll get a seat. Oh, and the staff are always super friendly and helpful!
Former 3rd wave barista here, so my espresso standards are unfortunately cooked. Revolver absolutely delivered. Everything was dialed in, the latte art was clean, service was fast, and the quality never dropped. The shop is small but the vibes are immaculate--modern, historic, and minimalist all at once. The long community table in the back is such a nice touch. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Would 100% be a regular if I didn't live in Florida. Instead I'm thousands of miles away reminiscing about this coffee like it was a lost love story.
Grabbed a macchiato ($5). The coffee had a nice flavor and it was made well. Friendly staff. Atmosphere that other local coffee shop, wasn't entice to stay long.
Solid coffee in a convenient location! It was easy to order with the knowledgeable baristas. My iced americano was delicious and didn't take too long to be ready. One thing to note is that I came during a summer day and it was extremely hot in the shop as if they didn't have any AC on. I can't imagine being able to study or work in that hot coffee shop, but there were definitely a lot of people doing so. I recommend grabbing coffee here if you're in Gastown! Definitely will be back to try the pour overs.
Genuinely one of the best lattes I've ever had. And the lemon cake! So good. What's funny is I heard an older gentleman returning his lemon cake halfway eaten because it was too dense. But sir, the flavor! No accounting for taste I guess.
i thought the coffee here was amazing! if i had more time, i would've loved to do the espresso flight which looked great. super busy, but lined moved pretty quickly. cool spot!
Kind service, cozy cafe, and best of all - excellent espresso. I came upon opening and tried two shots in the form of an espresso flight; both were already dialed in. If they weren't, then they've fooled me. I preferred the straight espresso to the macchiato in the flight, because the notes in the coffee are covered by milk - but it was worth a try to explore this cafe for the first time. I prefer straight espresso, anyway! The retail bags of coffee are wonderful examples of specialty coffee around the world. They carry Dak, The Barn, Monogram, Phil & Sebastian, Ex Animo, and more.
Super cute shop. I'm obsessed with their coffee brewing set up. Got the espresso flight ($9) which came with two different espressos that's served two ways - plain and with milk The taster was yummy Also got a ham and cheese croissant which I really liked- reminiscent of a bagel because of the seasoning. Service was and good. The place has two sections, so if there isn't seating in the main ordering area, head to the other side
I've had coffee all over the world, including Melbourne (where coffee is taken very seriously). This is the best coffee shop I've ever been to. The taste of their pour over coffee is extraordinary, & I could still taste flavor notes in my oat milk latte, which is hard to do. Vibe is very unpretentious and welcoming. Staff is chill & friendly. Merch is really cool. We were visiting & I bought four bags of coffee to take home. Great coffee shop!
Great espresso tasting experience! High quality and good price. Located in the trendy Gastown. I couldn't recommend it more!!!

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who was very disappointed after all the hype leading up to my visit. I visited Revolver on a Saturday afternoon... and the line was out the door. Standing room only inside. Not a single seat available in the small coffee place. Additionally, the benches outside were also full. We ordered a latte, and it was good. Though I don't believe it was worth the wait. I had hoped to try a coffee flight... but it's not the most practical choice to make while standing in a crowded cafe. Not my type of coffee going experience. Then again... I am not that hip. Nor am I trendy. Maybe standing in a crowd while you take your coffee is a new thing and I'm just not with it. Many around me seemed to be enjoying the experience. I opted for a shop down the street with a nice seating area and a view of the water for WAY less money. But that's just me!! read more
Unquestionably awesome coffee. Revolver knows their coffee. Lots of great single-origin coffees to choose from with a wide variety of preparation methods from gold-tone filter pourover to siphon to espresso. They weight and measure everything and serve your coffee in a cute little flask (really a generous portion) to pour into your demitasse cup. I had some really excellent coffee and a really excellent cookie. Of course the staff and most of the clientele are hipsters, but that's ok, I like the coffee that hipsters like. The staff, however, are not pretentious at all. I appreciated having an informed conversation about what coffee to order without sounding like I'm in an episode of Portlandia. Very nice atmosphere and vibe. Limited number of tables...you might have to stand until one turns over. I don't think they have Wi-Fi, so not the place to surf the net. Good for a rainy Vancouver day. read more
Chic, hip spot with good coffee. I met up with some folks on a Monday at noon and was lucky to find a few spots at the long table in the Archive side. I love the communal table style, and saw a few other people having meetings which made it feel pretty friendly in there. Once we'd all arrived I hopped up to the counter to order drinks and some cookies. We got their power cookie, two chocolate, and a thumbprint cookie - they were ok but I wasn't blown away as they were all quite hard and crunchy. I went to sit back down, anticipating the drinks taking a little while (we did have 5 of them and the place was busy) but in a matter of moments a friendly barista popped her head in and told me the drinks were ready. We grabbed the coffees - the cups are really quite small when you drink in, but they're quite pretty. My decaf Americano wasn't bad, I'd like to see if they have different beans to try next time though, as these ones didn't explode my brain with deliciousness! I love all the various coffee making vessels they have around, it provides for a cool atmosphere and lots to look at. The feel of the place is chill and very West Coast - I definitely felt that I could sit and work away there for quite some time. It's interesting that Archive has a bunch of stuff for sale along the walls - very hipsterish stuff mostly, but pretty cool! I'd definitely come back for sure, it was a great first experience! read more

BEST new coffee joint in the hood! This place is so fun...they make my coffee addiction look like a past time rather than a conviction :) I buy all my beans here as the selection is crazy good. Usually roasted within days before you buy they also will grind them for you if you haven't recently purchased a new kick ass grinder like me :) (Army n Navy on Cordova $29.99 has lots of settings and does an automatic grind) read more

Came here with my family while we were on vacation in Vancouver. Yes, we were one of the tourists who came in and took pictures of the place. Upon entering, I realized it was a hipster store and, as a very Asian family with "unhip" clothing, we didn't fit in with the environment this little coffee shop was trying to put out. And I think every worker and customer there knew that since we got stares. Anyways, I am not a coffee snob. I love all kinds of coffee. This place was a great stop, not on the road to find the "best" coffee, but on the road to explore and taste all kinds of different coffee. This place was unique. The cups were small and I figured it was because they were trying to get you to focus on the taste of coffee rather than having an abundance of coffee. It wasn't watered down or overly sweet. It was just right. The place has a very artsy environment. I did like the artwork on the walls. Everything about this place screams hipster hangout. So if you're a tourist coming into this place, just keep that in mind so you don't get the awkward feeling that you stand out like a sore thumb. read more

This place embodies all that is good about thirdwave coffee. They take their time brewing the pour overs, they offer tasting flights, they have great decor that mixes modern/industrial/kitsch, but it's all on point. Nothing is too forced. Everything is really good. My only two minor criticisms - would have been nice if they offered more local coffees. They kept suggesting I try the Ritual. I'm from the Bay Area, I am totally familiar with Ritual. I wanted to try Canada's finest! The Phil & Sebastian was really nice. A vegan pastry option would have made this a 5 star review. An empty belly with too much coffee is a recipe for disaster. read more

I tried their tasting flight. I don't normally take my coffee black, but the barista who brought my flight of three to the table suggested at least trying it black. There really wasn't any room for cream anyway. The place is very cool and funky. Watching the baristas brew the coffee in beakers is kinda like watching a chemistry class. The coffee was very good served black. Even when they cooled down a bit the taste changed, in a good way. This was coffee that didn't need cream, not a hint of bitterness that you can often get with coffee. All in all a great experience. read more
After a an exhausting night, coffee was in desperate need. Luckily we were just down the street from Revolver - an indie-type coffee shop with nice staff, tasty baked goods, and great coffee. They also play good music on vinyl records and we discovered a new band. The 1% cappuccino & raspberry thumbprint cookie definitely hit the spot. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I heard about this place through Conde Nast and am so glad I followed their advice for a damn good cup of joe in Vancouver. It's by far one of the best coffee shops I've ever visited. And I'm not just talking about in Vancouver. I'm talking about the world. THE WORLD. So I may have also added a star because it was conveniently located nearby where I was staying in Gastown. It took less than 10 minutes of a stroll and only spotted the place after seeing the big Revolver sign. I stepped in and smelled coffee beans. Some smells just really hit you in a trance and for me, fresh coffee beans roasting is one of them. Since it was my first time here I wasn't sure what to order but the cashier was incredibly friendly. I mentioned it was my first time and he was asking me what kind of coffee I normally drink, if I like nutty flavors versus floral, etc... It was quite helpful. I landed on getting a drip of Phil and Sebastian coffee from Calgary, which was perfect. It had a caramel and hazelnut flavor to it - yet was bold. It takes a few minutes for the baristas to make them in the Chemex, but the wait is well-worth it. I also ordered a butter croissant to go with, and took my coffee and pastry to Revolver's next-door neighbor, Archive for more seating. There is a big community table there with plenty of seating and they have independent magazines to read. Many people there were working on their laptops. Archive is also where they sell their coffee accessories. Revolver does have seating, but the barista mentioned that the place gets packed quickly (like in my instance) and after my visit I know why. The coffee is absolutely amazing. There is a roast for everyone, and I totally would've ordered the flight for 12 bucks if I hadn't been on a time crunch for more sight-seeing. And now that I'm home I'll forever miss Revolver 'til my next Vancouver visit. read more
Amidst Vancouver's ever evolving coffee culture, Revolver Coffee is probably the standard by which I usually compare all Vancouver coffee shops to with their serious attitude towards caffeinated beverages. I'm always a little overwhelmed by Revolver's thoroughly diverse selection of pour over coffees. Watching them carefully brew your single cup of coffee made fresh to order right in front of you with precision is always a treat. They also make a refreshing Americano (iced here) full of cool espresso flavours. Revolver is extra cozy thanks to Archive, their attached/adjacent spillover space and retail outlet next door. I'm a sucker for a good piece of coffee cake and their raspberry coffee cake is suitably crisp and scrumptious with a nice lightness to it. It's hard to beat Revolver when it comes to their overall coffee experience. read more
When I visited: July 6th What I got : Camber Featured Coffee Drink Review: When I order the featured coffee I expected just a simple mug of drip. However, I ended up getting a generously full V60 of their Camber roast. This medium light roast pour-over was smooth with a pleasant note of acidity towards the end. I got flavors of milk chocolate, shortbread, and a bit of Almond. Cafe Review: The revolver Cafe is actually two parts, including their annex called 'Archive'. The main 'business end' has a nice amount of light /views of the street with mix of small bench booths and bar style seats at the window. Archive, meanwhile houses a long co-working/communal table with the walls offering the merchandise (books, gear, etc). A modern style design offers minimalist furnishings with mostly bare black walls yearning for some art. The staff are all friendly, quick, and throughly skilled with their craft. Thus the only major issue here is with handling their own success. This shop had a steady flow of people for the hour I was here, and with this seating is limited. By itself that is fine, but some congestion often stirs up as people wait for their drinks. Now, I don't mind waiting for my drink since I know however long it takes them is well worth it. However, as a proud urban Midwesterner, I hate being in the way, though there is little that can be done with the limited space here. Overall Rating: 9/10 read more

This was a highlight of my most recent visit of Vancouver. I made it through a coffee and a latte. Both were great coffee experiences. I really appreciate being able to choose my bean of choice AND getting a recommendation from the staff was great. When I got the coffee, I ordered a pour over, It was nice to watch the process and think about how much care and practice was put into what I was buying. The treats in the case were also enjoyed; Blueberry muffin and a Peanut butter sandwich cookie; both great. read more

I also don't want to write duplicates, so will keep my comment simple. LOVE their decor, atmosphere, idea, service, people and everything, but only one thing i didn't like was the coffee I had was a bit too sour.(It wasn't so bad with sweet after taste though.. but still...) I tried their "Carmen Estate Panama" coffee. I've been waiting for this kind of coffee shop where they care for the coffee a lot. It would be perfect if the coffee had less sourness. Will definitely go back to check other coffees and foods. read more

It was my first time to visit this coffee shop bec. Im in hunt of best coffee place here in Vancouver. I got their latte and I must say that it taste so great! It has an aroma taste that made it so unique and I really like it. Aside from that, they have a spot for those people who wants to do their business or just read a book and use laptop. Will def come back and try their other coffee choices. read more

Best cuppocino I have ever had. I sneaked in my Persian walnut cookies and had it with my cuppocino and it was godly !!!! Yes godly .... My heart was filled with love after having a few sips. I did not like their pastry which I tried last time. I had the raspberry pie which tasted very raw. But the coffee is amazing! Highly recommending this place! read more

One of the best coffee spots in Vancouver. Good selection of beans and well crafted by knowledgable barista's! Space is awesome to hang out and enjoy the east side vibe. --- Nice quote are to hang in the back of the shop behind the wall with the work map. There was a line out the door when I arrived. Most seats and booths were taken. The decor is nice. The layout makes it feel a bit crammed while waiting for your order. My latte was good. There was some whispering with looks from the two employees taking orders which felt like they were talking about customers. read more
If you like good coffee and hipster-style presentation, you'll love Revolver. It's the only place I've seen so far that brews their daily coffee using a chemex, and the taste is great. It gets busy though, so be prepared to wait a while to get your coffee, even if you only ordered a regular brew. In some cases, it's probably faster to order an espresso drink; this is especially the case when a lot of people are ordering the tasting/brewing flights. read more
I thoroughly enjoyed this third wave coffee shop in Vancouver. The prices are reasonable and they offer numerous types of coffee from different roasters around North America. They also serve two types of espresso flights! There is also an entire extra room of seating they own next door. Quite a lively and cool place! read more

Great service and delicious coffee. You can tell the coffee is good when they don't add any flavoring. And their beautiful latte art doesn't hurt either! Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Vancouver. read more

I love coffee. Definitely one of the best places for coffee in Vancouver. It's my number 1 on my list for coffee places. Never disappoints and the coffee is always on point! The interior is also a good vibe and all those coffee things are always so cool. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good coffee! read more
