It can be on the pricey side, but for me I've always gotten worth out of it. The gentleman who grooms my cat always remembers her, and genuinely gets excited when I bring her in. I love that they have days without dogs so that cats don't get spooked. He always remembers my cat has a sensitive shoulder area due to a surgery. He also sends me cute photos and videos of the process. I do not think I could ever comfortably take my cat anywhere else. She loves him as much as he loves her and he gives her the love and care as if she was his own. read more

My dog basically looks the same, and they were supposed to brush him but I'm near certain they didnt as I'm combing piles of hair off him immediately after. He has a ton of straggly here on top that I assumed would've been tidied but looks like they didn't even touch it. This time has face trim and bath was $100 for a 7 pound dog, his hair cut like 2 months ago was $105 and the time before that his hair cut was horrible. I used to love this place! They always did a great job with my dog. However the last time I scheduled, I needed to reschedule and they charged me a deposit of $50 I believe. My dog got really sick and end up passing away before his scheduled grooming day so I called to notified and they REFUSED to give back the deposit. It was just heartless of them as my dog died. I was so heartbroken that I didn't even cared in that moment but honestly it shows they don't care about dogs nor owners, just money. read more

I have two elderly dogs and one of them is not easy to say the least! I managed to get an appointment with Rex within two weeks, which is very unusual at the moment. I'm going to give this 3 stars, reluctantly. On the plus side, the staff were nice and nothing terrible happened, but I won't go back. I really didn't like the smell of the soap and there were limited brushes/supplies. I could get over both of those things, but the towels were nasty. I'm not sure if they hadn't been cleaned or if they were just past their prime, but they were very dingy. The price was a shock - nearly $100 for me to wash my 2 dogs (not including the expensive parking.) I'll be driving out to the self wash at Marymoor, which costs $26 (total) and has clean towels. It was easy to book with them, had lots of openings being open 7 days a week, they sent out a reminder the day before and my dog looked great when picking him up after his groom! We love this place. They are so nice -- especially the owner. He's a gentle soul that we are always happy to see. Do we get a hug and big smile at the door? Nope, and that's just fine with us. They are professional, efficient, kind, and very reasonable. We have a little 15 year old dog that has mega claws (talons?) -- she's a Mexican Hairless. They are always cautious with her, and won't cut them shorter, even though I've asked, because they don't want to hurt her. Unless the vet trims them, this is the only place we go. read more

Have had one groom so far for my 4-month old standard poodle pup! Dropped her off at 7:30, quick and easy registration process and got a call when she was done! Positives: 1) my puppy loved her cut, she smelled good for like a week. They were very detailed in asking exactly what I wanted!! 2) there was an upcoming snowstorm, so Rex called to remove her appointment up a day so we didn't have to miss and could avoid the snow! AWESOME. 3) cute shop with gifts and treats :) was clean and bright and nice. Couple areas of improvement but excited to continue using Rex: 1) I wish I had been able to see what the back looked like on my first visit. I used to love this place for its grooming services however our regular groomer left the establishment so now been it's someone else doing the grooming. I took my dog in earlier this week for grooming and then a couple days later we noticed she had a cut/wound on her upper body. I had talked to the groomer about the wound and he said it wasn't them that it was an old wound. I took my dog to the vet and they said it's not an old wound and it's recent. That they must have knicked her when cutting her hair so now she's on antibiotics and we have to disinfectant the wound 2x a day. I was so disappointed to find all this out and would've appreciated if they had just been honest with me from the get go. After 15 years with Westies, we rescued these two sweet boys. They are a bonded pair of 7 months old. One freaked out of being in a cage on his first visit. The solution: Medicate your dog and knock him out at each grooming. The next solution: Expensive baths at $150 each until the dog passes puberty. If you like random cancellation, uneven basic cuts, this is your place. The door staff refuses to memorize the name of the dogs. Throwing money at this won't help. Last week, we asked for a shave only in the body, no one cared and a thrauma tired dog came back. In 20 years of pet services, this wins worse in the class. read more

This review is for their grooming for my 2-yr old, 16-pound, Australian Labradoodle, Yogi, from Catherine, who is the owner of Rex after a recent change in ownership. We recently moved to Seattle from SF and after a long wait and being cancelled last minute by few other groomers, Rex took us in on a short notice. Their front desk, staff were very polite, friendly and accommodative to our needs. We were consulted by Catherine on the type of hair cut, shampoo choice etc. I was followed up with additional choices of teeth cleaning and blueberry facial for her, which I opted in as well. In the end, she is pretty much odorless yet fresh, beautiful with a toy poodle cut, and her nails neatly filed and her teeth are cleaner than before. She was also prettily sent back with a cute bow tie. Yogi was happy to see us when picking her up and has also been relaxed since. While I didn't get to explore the store, Yogi picked up a dental stick(again unusual of her) from the store on her way and the staff were kind enough to let her take it. NEVER GET GROOMING HERE. We asked for a puppy groom (he is 13 weeks) to get him used to the smells, tools, dryer, loud sounds etc. we asked that they don't do much as he is still a baby and has never done this before. The groomer not only told us that our dog was misbehaving the whole time, but he CUT HIS FOOT. Our puppy is just a baby and this was his first experience. They didn't say one thing positive about our puppy and you could tell our puppy was not happy once the groom was over. The groom was also very poorly done and hair was not cut professionally. This place has gone absolutely down hill since Tomy left. I've been taking my dogs here since 2013 and today a girl who works there accused me of complaining for the sake of complaining just to get my money back. My dogs ended up getting cut by a groomer named Kevin. When I picked them up, I noticed he did not trim their ears or tails at all. Unfortunately, he was already gone by the time I could let him know. The same girl said she would ask one of their other groomers to trim them for me. The groomer comes out and she is all flustered as I'm telling her the situation. I wanted at least one of my dogs to get his hair fixed because his birthday was the next day. She said she would only trim the one dog and was clearly not happy. As I was waiting, I was worried I made a mistake even asking her to do it with the reaction I got. Fortunately, it turned out fine. On the weekend, I decided $192 is a lot to pay to not have their cut right and called Rex on Monday and told them the situation. I asked if Kevin would be able to trim them and they told me it was fine and to bring them in whenever the following Friday (a week after their initial grooming). I brought them in and told Kevin that he left their ears and tails too long. I mentioned someone already fixed the ears on one of them. Figured he would use that as an example for the other dog. He asked how short I wanted their tails, I said I don't know, that they normally left them bushy and just needed a trim. He seemed confident in what I wanted and didn't seem to need me to explain any further. He brought them out and immediately I notice their hair does not look right. I said it was too short. It wasn't even that it was just too short, it was choppy and butchered and he cut their tails really short on a shih tzu mix. Honestly, I've never seen anyone do that to a shih tzu. Also, he cut the ears of the one that had already been fixed and ruined it. He apologized and said he wasn't sure what he could do and offered a partial refund or to comp the next cut. He then ran off with his next customer. I turn to the girl and ask her how I would get comped for this and she said she would need to call her boss. The boss decided they weren't going to comp me because I waited a week even though they knew it needed to be trimmed that same day and I called ahead on Monday. Whoever I spoke to didn't log the information in about my dogs coming in for the trim and so basically what I said didn't matter. I even showed them my call log but because none of the employees recalled me calling about my dogs then basically it didn't count. After arguing with this girl and showing her my dogs ears which were clearly butchered, she offered to refund me and that I could find a different groomer. I felt this was fair as $192 is a lot to pay for 2 butchered dog cuts and terrible customer service. However, I did not have my card on me. I asked if I could come back the next day and she made the excuse that they were booked up and did not have 30 seconds to spend to give me a refund. Then I asked if I could come back today and then she accused me of just wanting my money back and complaining for the sake of complaining. This girl also kept arguing with me when I was trying to leave because they clearly weren't going to rectify the situation. Let me make this clear, I have and will pay for excellent service but what I got wasn't that. Never coming back here again and you shouldn't either because you will return with sad dogs and no one likes that. read more

Love, love Rex and have been taking my dog, Hubble, here for years. Hubble primarily sees Natalie but Rex's owner, Jun, is also wonderful. They love and care for these furry animals as much as their owners do. Pro-tip: make your next appointment when you've completed the current one or else you might have to wait a bit to get your dog in. This is from a grooming that happened June, 2016. I should have written a review then, but didn't. However, I was just skimming their reviews and was appalled that Rex still has a problem with injuring dogs so I'm adding my story. My Bichon rescue had the inside of both of his ears badly cut. The wounds formed into big scabs. What's really upsetting is that it happened on BOTH ears. If you do it once, that's not good - mistakes happen. For it to happen twice is inexcusable. I contacted the owner, Jeff, and he told me the groomer that cut my dog is no longer with the company (not sure if she was fired or if she had already planned to leave). My Theo, 7-months old, went to Rex Seattle for a full groom (first grooming experience at a different shop did not go well) and he did "amazing!". Emma is the best!! She listened and asked questions about his first groom (at just about 4.5 months). Asked questions about his preferences, behavior, correction, training etc. Then she asked how I want him groomed. Looked at the pictures I shared and asked more questions. Emma and Ed (the front desk guy) spent 5-hrs with Theo, let him hang out in the store, took him for a walk when he needed a break, and spent time training him to be comfortable w the grooming process. And when I came to pick him up, they both spent time to chat w me about how well Theo did and what I need to continue and start doing at home to make the grooming easier. There were parts of the groom she wasn't happy w as he kept trying to sit or play instead. For me it was more important for Theo to have had a great experience than the PERFECT groom (honestly I didn't notice it until she pointed it out). I appreciated her professionalism, kindness, and all the love on my pup! And he looks so handsome and he knows it! Extra bounce in his step, head held high, and tried to walk up to strangers and sat for their attention. Groomers have a hard job, especially w new pups raised during COVID and somewhat limited socialization. Theo got some training in appropriate grooming behavior, looks wonderful, and I found an awesome groomer that knows how to work w a COVID puppy and anxious first time puppy momma. AVOID this place! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE We specifically told them to keep the hair long because we've been here before and they tend to get hairs too short. And this time they SHAVED ALL hair below the neck! Yes our puppy has some matted hair but we NEVER GOT ANY PHONE CALL that they want to shave her. And when we ask them, they were claiming that it would take them a whole day to brush if not shave. I wrote a 1 star review in August because I picked up my dog, paid, left and discovered my dogs paw bleeding. No one said anything to me about it. After writing the review Parker has continued to harass me through private messages. They have called me a liar and dishonest. They have tried posting personal attacks on my other reviews. Tonight was the final straw. After receiving several messages again from Parker and again asking them to stop, I feel that it's only right to share this. I was a client at Rex for over 5 years. Not only was the experience with my dog a reason to find a new groomer, the harassment from Parker for not writing a good review is ridiculous. While writing this, they have messaged me 3 times. Have been coming here for about 18 months because previous groomer Nate did a great job. My dog got lots of compliments on the haircut. But the most recent visit experience has been very disappointing. On the appointment day, two hours after dropping off my dog, I called in to see when can I come in to pick her up, I was told it would take two more hours, without any further explanation on why is it taking so long. After another one hour, I got a call from the groomer. He said my dog's face is matted and they would have to shave it. I said that's fine but please keep the fur on her body with short haircut. Almost five hours after drop off, I got a call that my dog was ready for pick up. When she came out, she was all shaved, that was shocking, as I did not receive any other call that they would have to shave everything. I reached out to Rex with the feedback, and it was very nice of them to offer two complimentary grooming sessions and treats.
