We were excited to see a Rey Azteca open up in the neighborhood since we are big fans of their restaurant in Warminster. That place is great, consistent service, food, prices, etc. This location is wildly mediocre. The cheese dip was barely warm coming out but we ate it because we were starving. The prices here are all about $1 to $4 more expensive than the Warminster location and the food is no where near as good. Very disappointing. There were also long periods of time where the waiter went off the grid and didn't check in. Hopefully they find their feet here soon but I don't plan on returning to this location since there are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Norristown/Plymouth Meeting with better quality and service. read more

We are from out of state and looking for great Mexican! Found this place through Yelp, it was well reviewed. Not wrong! Came on a Saturday around noon for an early lunch. Only a few other people. Very clean! Smelled amazing right away! Wait staff very attentive! Ordered a margarita and a beer, came out quickly and margarita was delicious! We ordered, lunch steak fajitas, 3 ground beef soft tacos, lunch taco salad with ground beef and a fajita salad. All were amazing! Meats were cooked perfectly and seasoned well! Food was fresh and well prepared. Portions were perfect! Almost forgot! Chips and salsa were amazing, warm, crisp and perfectly salty! Being introduced to Mexican food in California during the 1970's and continuing thru several states, I am astounded that a beautiful decorated restaurant with a bar (finally after 9 months) can serve such bad food. My order came out in minutes after microwave and rice still cold. Meat was tasteless and a small glass of wine was $9.25. Please hire a cook and some staff who can speak English and you will do well. read more

What a wonderful surprise! A friend told us how great their tamales were at the new place. Not personally a fan of tamales, I didn't push going there but finally did and just came back from a delightful lunch! Four of us had four different lunch dishes and were each impressed with the delicious quality of the food (and the "standard" pre-order chips were the best chips I have ever had anywhere... ANYWHERE). As previously mentioned by others, it isn't much to look at from the outside but it is very nice inside! I was expecting tables, chairs, and a kitchen, but it is so much more! I saw very good reviews and decided to check it out. Can't complain about the "ambiance". Very clean,bright and nicely decorated. The staff was well dressed and attentive. I'm not very familiar with ordering at Mexican restaurants so I thought I would order something simple that I was familiar with and had enjoyed at other restaurants and even store bought. So I ask the waiter if I can have a layered bean dip. He looks at me like I'm speaking Greek. I don't think he was very proficient speaking English. So I just ask for a quesadilla and some tacos and burritos. I wasn't very impressed.Overall, I thought $40 for ground beef was a bit much.Does anyone know where to get a layered bean dip? I used to frequent Marita's Cantina in Fort Washington but they closed down. read more

This was our first time eating at Rey Azteca. Don't be fooled that it's in a stripmall, the decor is very nice and comfortable inside the restaurant. The hostess and the server were very friendly and the service was very quick and attentive, our server came back to the table often to check on us and refill our sodas. All of our meals were delicious and very fresh, and the churros for desert were also very good. We will definitely be back to eat here. read more

We had dinner with friends (4 total) in January, 2023. The restaurant was almost empty, so we were allowed to pick a table. We pretty much ordered a bit of everything, from appetizers to entrees to desserts; both vegetarian and meat based foods. All the basics (chips, guacamole, empanadas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas) were excellent. The roast pork entree was outstanding; tender, fragrant and delicious. (I will go there again just to get this dinner.) The bill was quite reasonable, and we can't wait to go there again. read more

The service was great and the Manager took time to visit each table to ensure expectations were met. I highly recommend d this restaurant. For vegetarians I do not recommend this place because we ordered cheese enchiladas and our enchiladas were wrapped and came in plate with sauce on side and rice and beans was also on side. I met a friend for lunch. There is a lunch menu that offers 2 dozen platters for less than $12. We both had the chile relinoes (#1). It comes with a small filled chile topped with sauce, a green salad with guacamole, refried beans, and a beef taco. As my friend said, 'Enough, but not too much." There was an option of the chile with refried beans and Spanish rice. They also serve chips and red salsa with the meal. Drinks are extra. They are getting a liquor license. The food was delicious. Don't judge by the outside, you walk in and immediately admiring the great ambiance of the place, the mood lighting and 'fireplace', but especially the HUGE comfortable BOOTHS and tasteful touches of Mexican artwork, absolutely beautiful and comfortable! Large tables for the huge amount of food we got and shared with each other and everything was top quality food! BEST GUAC EVER! We will DEFINITLY be back and bring others, THIS place is a REAL GEM AND lunch prices very reasonable and portions nice sizes, can't wait to have dinner some night there!
