They have many other locations, and we've heard all great things from neighbors. Hmm, this is not the same as any other Mexican restaurant I've been to in the US. No free chips and salsa! But they have complimentary margarita, which we didn't try. The chips they sell are good--thicker than the free chips you get from other Mexican restaurants and don't taste the same. The food is good. I got four tacos--I find them all slightly under-filled. Maybe it's due to inflation? My husband got quesadilla and it's quite small. The main reason of my giving four instead of five stars is: There's barely any cilantro on my tacos, and whatever cilantro I got doesn't look very fresh. I've driven past this El Limon location more times than I can count but I am happy that I finally got the chance to come in here and enjoy a good meal with a couple of complimentary margs! I ordered a couple of lengua and chorizo tacos as well as al pastor tostada. All the meats were delicious and well seasoned. The lengua and al pastor are probably my favorite given their great texture and flavor. The customer service is on point as their staff are very friendly and very prompt. My lady and I met up for dinner with a friend in town for an interview. I previously ordered a burrito from the establishment in Ambler that was quite delicious so I figured this place would be a good as well. We were seated immediately by friendly staff that let us choose our seats away from the door. I thoroughly enjoyed the tostados ordered (tinga, barbacoa, al pastor). Although I wish chips and salsa were standard as a free starter like at most Mexican restaurants but I guess the free margarita even things out. El Limon - Norristown is another in the locally born chain of solid Mexican restaurants that seem to be expanding almost monthly. It is a smallish shop compared to most of the others, but the quality of the kitchen is just as high. I stopped in after an office meeting nearby. I found it decorated with colorful tables and carved back wood chairs depicting the beauty of the traditional town square with church steeples, red tile roofs and flowering bourganvillas. The Muzac was a bit too loud for dining, but surely the staff enjoyed it throughout the day. My lunch of their tacos dorado (golden fried tacos) was very interesting and tasty. Stuffed within the rolled "flutes" were mashed potatoes, grilled chicken, and cheese. The softness just behind the crunch was fun and unexpected. On top was the mix of lettuce, tomato and fresh crema found on every plate. The red salsa in the table rocket liberally applied brought it all together. Liked it alot. It was fairly priced @ $8.50, and filling enough to skip dinner tonight. Norristown has many Latin American restaurants to choose from. Returned for our second visit and the food was good as we expected but this time we where dissatisfied with our visit for reasons listed below in our review. We ordered Shrimp Taco plate -- Good but the shrimp where too small Tacos- Carne Asada, Carnitas and Pork- The best flavor was the Carnitas. Chips Salsa and Guacamole appetizer- The Salsa was good but the chips tasted stale and old. They gave us new ones but they are just too crispy since they fry them way too long. The restaurant is nicely decorated and you can see the painted chairs make an extra touch feels like we are back in San Diego. The part that was unacceptable was we ordered extra Cilantro and after receiving our bill we where charged $1 for it, really I commented on it and the lady at the register said we charge for that. It is not mentioned on the menu and to top it off we ordered extra Cilantro on our first visit there and it was" FREE." If you are going to charge your customer than let them know either on your menu or while ordering it. Be consistent and if your customer asks about you should take it off the bill that would be great customer service. This place is a Mexican find! Let's start off with the fact that they offer free margaritas! The food is authentic and spot on! The chips were him made and the guacamole was perfect! The el pastor meat a perfect mix of the sweet pineapple and savory pork. We all agreed that the quesadilla was the best option! The service could be better. The staff seem to be new to serving and we're a little slow at turning the tables over quickly but I'm sure they will get better! They do a ton of take out business. I've only been here once, but it's also the last time. The food was bland and moderately warm, like a typical chain restaurant that just reheats frozen food. The mole sauce is greasy and flavorless. The beans and rice tasted like something out of a can. The chips and salsa aren't any better. Very plain chips, and the salsa was overloaded with jalapeños and cilantro, making them the only two things you can taste. To top it all off, the lady working the counter wasn't very friendly or engaging, kind of like she hated her job and clearly didn't care. This place was a massive disappointment. The most important thing I will say is this; the food is on the same level as the original El Limon in Conshohocken. I felt I needed to get that out of the way first for people who were probably mostly wondering this thought! My bffski and I came here for a Cinco de Mayo meal, in between lunch and dinner when it was pretty dead inside. We split an order of loaded nachos and a bunch of tacos. The nachos are a staple for me at El Limon; they are arguably some of the best in the land. All of the food was great, and it was served quickly and with a smile. The only difference in the menu between this and Conshy is that they serve a few different types of meats! They have barbacoa and lengua - delicious! Service was very sweet as well. We had a nice, young lady with super cool hair. We were having a very leisurely meal, and took forever to order. It confused her at first, but she very quickly got the hint and only came over when it was clear that we were ready to order. She also offered us some Coronitas on the house for Cinco de Mayo! Awesome. Speaking of which, this El Limon is BYOB as well! I couldn't tell as no other reviewer had mentioned it, and it doesn't say so anywhere on the Yelp page. But never fear, you can BYO at this restaurant! They also have free margaritas! However, they do have a one drink per person policy. :( I guess that's a good policy if you're not a social alcoholic! El Limon is quickly becoming a Mexican Dynasty in Montgomery County. I have been a frequent customer at their Ambler and Conshy locations. The absolute best thing about this new location is PARKING! They have a lot, a huge lot considering the fact that the strip mall they are located in is just about empty. It looks like they have perhaps taken over for a previous Mexican restaurant that was there, its a small place but the decor is festive and you can see the kitchen as you sit at your table. I have been there twice since they have opened and I personally have had no problem at all with the service. Very attentive, gotten our order perfect and checked up on us a throughout our meal. The food is amazing, fresh, delicious and always piping hot. I also recommend the Tinga (Marinated Chicken), it is very flavorful and is great on their tacos. read more

I go to this location about once a week. The food is delicious, but I wouldn't order anything with shrimp...they're incredibly small. The service is quick, but not very friendly. I was really annoyed last time I went in. I ordered a dish that came with corn tortillas and I asked if I can get corn chips instead. They wouldn't accommodate that. I asked if I could just pay the difference. No. This makes no sense to me from a customer service standpoint at all. They charged me for an entire side of chips. I hate to give this review, because in general the food tastes good and the service is prompt and courteous. Previously I ordered the El Pastor Burrito here and almost broke a tooth on a big piece of bone in the meat. This was BIG, like cartoon big. It wasn't some little sliver, it barely fit in the burrito ‍ That bone incident kept me from ordering for awhile, but I decided to try again and just avoid the pork option. I ordered the shredded beef burrito and got a hunk of beef with arteries running thru it. They were BIG, UNCHEWABLE and RUBBERY running thru a chunk of meat. They looked like IV tubing. I have no idea what cuts of meat they are using, but twice is enough to scare me off. I don't want my money back, or a free burrito. When something skeves you, there's no getting over it. Nice location, good authentic Mexican food, usually quick service, which is perfect for my colleagues and I, who frequent this location for weekday lunches. This location doesn't get as crowded as the Conshohocken location, but if I know we're going to have a large group, I would call ahead to give them a heads up. Although they don't take official reservations, this method always works and we have a reserved table for us when we arrive, which is appreciated on both fronts I'm sure. One piece of advice, if you're calling this location to order food for pick up or to call ahead for a table, you won't be able to get through between 11:30am-12pm, it's a steady busy signal! So just make sure you call earlier than that time frame. We've never had a bad experience here and the food never disappoints. If you have specifications for the idea you're ordering,such as no guacamole or extra cilantro, just make sure you speak up, they are always willing to accommodate. Great place! read more

The manager lady is extremely condescending and rude, the food is good but the attitude and service she gives is disgusting. I hope she can fix her attitude and not tell customers off. Waiting at the register to take my to go order, as she was on the phone I waited. She glances up multiple times while she is taking a phone order and as she finishes, she says I am being impatient and need to have patience in life. I said not one word to her while waiting for her to get off the phone. Normally I would just keep it moving. But this is the 2nd time she has been unpleasant with me in person. All the other employees are extremely nice and helpful and offer great service. Only the manager lady gives a horrible experience with el limon.
