The portions are very small. Only 2 enchiladas with soup but no rice or beans on side for $19. chicken was salty in my quesadilla . Chips are extra cost And tasted stale. Another quality Mexican restaurant in the area. I had the pleasure to attend a friend's birthday gathering last weekend where I got to sample quite a few of the dishes. Take a journal with me in the below paragraphs to explore what Mexican fanfare awaits you at El Sarape of Blue Bell. Pulpo Asado Al Chimichurri - Chargrilled Octopus, Chimichurri-Lime sauce. Resting on taquera sauce, garnished with chipotle mayo, and drizzled with balsamic glaze. The small plate of Octopus had great presentation appeal however too many sauces going on with this dish. I am not a fan of chimichurri-lime sauce but with three sauces and a glaze you can't complain there were insufficient sauces to choose from. Chihuahua Nachos with beef - Pretty solid nachos. Flavor of the beef was exceptional. Just be aware the Mexican Nachos are $6.50 or you can upgrade to Chihuahua Nachos with a protein for $17.95. Tacos De Marisco - Octopus, shrimp, chorizo, avocado and cilantro. Three to a dish this is a very pleasant small meal. The shrimps are little bitty baby shrimp, but it works for the meal. Pro-Tip: This meal is $18.50 for dinner or $8.00 during Happy Hour (Tuesday-Friday 4pm-6:30pm Bar and Patio Only). Mole Poblano - Traditional mole sauce, made with hints of chocolate, nuts, herbs, garnished with sesame seeds. Served with rice and refried black beans. Apparently, I have never had mole sauce before as I was quite surprised at the flavor profile of this dish. My one friend who ordered it and let me try it agreed it was spicier than you would have thought from the description on the menu. Again, the presentation was terrific. My first thought when they brought it out was by God that is a lot of sauce as there is a pool of mole sauce on the dish. The chicken was fresh and beautifully enhanced by the addition of the sesame seeds. After my first bite I was thoroughly confused if I liked it or not. I mindfully took a second bite and established this dish is not for my palate. I am not a fan of mole sauce, not the restaurant's fault just my personal preference. On to the drinks! Isn't this at least half the reason we dine at Mexican restaurants anyway? C'mon I won't tell your sponsor. We all love a good Margarita! Again, I am confused. I am stone sober and can't find a house margarita on their drink menu. It is on their happy hour menu for $7.00 but nowhere on their drink menu? Apparently not. Okay, on to the $14-$16 margarita's as I see no option for house margarita nor an option for pitchers of margaritas. I went with the La Loteria, Teremana Reposado Tequila, which is the brand label of the Rock's new tequila, I honestly have to say I did enjoy this drink quite a bit and may even be going out to buy a bottle of the Rock's Tequila, it was that good. The second drink I tried, the La Pinata, pineapple infused tequila aged for six weeks, served martini style, wasn't as good. They serve the La Pinata with no ice, but I don't know if that is the best way to present it as everyone wants a cold drink in the summertime. If you do not mind shelling out the extra dollars, I think El Sarape is a fine choice. I will most likely go back to my old standby Cantina Felix in Fort Washington as I know they have pitchers of House Margarita on the menu. As always people SYOY!!! read more

I can't recommend this place enough, it's one of me and my husband's favorite spots. And I say "one" because we love it as much as the other Sarape(s) locations in Chalfont and Horsham. We come to this place often, but lately every Friday we're drawn back, and every time we come back it's just as good as the last time. Besides their delicious food, the pineapple mojitos are so good that they've become my new favorite drink! But it's not just the amazing drinks and food that sets this place apart. On our last visit on Friday, our server Jesús was so warm and welcoming, we felt nothing but good vibes from him. He was so friendly and he made us feel like we were important as customers. It's hard to find a server that stands out, but Jesús was one of them. Shout out to Jimmy too! All in all, this place is an absolute delight to eat at. We've been regular diners over the years at this and the other sister locations, and we're always recommending it to friends and family! read more

Went for lunch. Food was good and entrees were fairly priced but they hose you on everything else. "Mexican Nachos" appetizer is a small dish of pico de gallo and a handful of tortilla chips. Plain iced tea and lemonade in small glasses. At least the water was free. We did not partake but I noticed the mocktails are priced same as ones with booze. My family and I go out to eat ALOT. Yes we frequent many Mexican restaurants. I don't hate this place, but I won't be returning anytime soon. We went on cinco de mayo so seemed like maybe it was a modified menu. The food was good not amazing. But the prices were high for what you get. I was definitely disappointed with the guacamole. Ours came out brownish and half empty for $14 no thank u. My margarita was served in a plastic cup and watered down not good and was $16 NOPE. The Margs are free at Tamarindo in Flourtown and way better. Actually the food at Tamarindo is way better too. El Sarape more like EL Saripoff!
