We camp Carpenteria Beach every year at least once or twice a year or more if we can. We are always looking for new spots to eat. When we were camping Carp, my wife and I were on a day ride on our bicycles through the city of Carp which we luv. We ran into Reyes Market and saw people eating on the front patio. We stop in for a late breakfast. I ordered the Chilaquilles Verde with a large Jamica. My wife ordered Carne Tacos. We have to say both choices were very yummy. Second day of being sick and craving comfort food I ordered nachos from here expecting something what I usually see at local Mexican spots. Chips with fresh cheese melted on them with guacamole, sour cream, and chicken since that's what I tend to add. What I actually received from here was far from any nachos I've had from a small joint. Honestly I could have driven to 76 and received the same quality product. The food was awful. A stack of tortilla chips with "nacho cheese sauce" the exact kind you get at sports stadiums and gas stations. Not what I would expect from my little local Mexican market. And to make it worse I had the most amazing nachos from a neighboring place the day before. Not going back. Would not recommend. Case Don Roge down the street offers much better quality food and real ingredients. read more

Reyes Market is SO GOOD. My boyfriend and I stopped here to eat 3/19/2021 out of curiosity and to put the rest of these great reviews to the test. We're from Riverside County and only out here on a business trip and when we're not doing business we're in search of great food... Reyes Market definitely surpassed my expectations. :) First let me start with the staff, unfortunately I did not get their names but they're the most kindest, welcoming people! I told them this was our first time there and the guy in front was excited and welcomed us and allowed us time to look over their menu of delicious food, along with giving feedback on their most popular items on their menu. Now food, my boyfriend and I both got burritos. I got the burrito that has your choice of meat--i got adobada (spicy pork), a chile relleno, beans, rice and cheese. My boyfriend got carne asada burrito with rice, beans, guacamole, cilantro and onions. Let me tell you these were the most amazingly HUGE burritos ever. Packed with so much flavor and authenticity! We also got a small side of chips that were so crunchy and warm! To drink we tried their agua frescas, my boyfriend got their horchata and i got their tamarindo agua--10/10!! And their salsas, AMAZING!! I love anything spicy and am picky with salsas, but let me tell you their salsas are 10/10! Being Hispanic, in a town you're not familiar with in search of great Hispanic food is tough!! But Reyes Market is definitely worth the stop and support! What put the cherry on top was being able to sit outside on their outside dining and enjoy their great food + view of the cute town they're located in. Definitely going to return to Reyes Market every time I'm in town. I don't normally like to do reviews, just read them but I'm glad my first review on Yelp is on Reyes Market. One word: Gordito! Get it now! Its awesome. I got the Pastor Gordita and it was food heaven. Its a sandwich, but instead of bread, it its 2 thick, fried corn tortillas, crunchy and browned on the outside, and soft and doughy in the middle. Then you have re fried beans and crumbled queso fresca, and a little lettuce for good measure. Then you have your meat and a tomato, and a healthy dousing of their red hot sauce, and on goes the other corn tortilla. Hungry yet? Reyes Market is just fantastic. I have enjoyed the Breakfast Burritos, the Tortas, the Tacos and the Burritos. Always great. Not to mention a great place to pick up a few ingredients for anything you might be making at home. Friendly courteous staff, and decent prices. My favorite things to order at Reyes are the Adovada Torta (my oh my) or the Carnitas (Pastor, Adovada and Asada are all great too....) tacos. I wouldn't mind a few more salsa options, but their red and green are both great. They have a habanero salsa now that's great too. After reading the reviews, I was so looking forward to trying this place. I was picturing this amazing tasty, spicy authentic carne asada but was so disappointed. Yes, its inside a deli market, wasn't expecting any frills. Ordered a carne asada burrito with everything, a chicken quesadilla and a chicken torta. The burrito was so bland, the carne asada was dry and tasteless. It was huge, but mostly filled with rice. I only had a couple of bites and had to throw it away. It was like eating rice wrapped in a tortilla. The quesadilla was seriously lacking cheese, the chicken was kind of bland too. My kids ate it ok, but it was nothing great. I make way better quesadillas. The torta was tasteless as well. These 3 items totaled over 20 dollars, no drinks or extras included. I give it one star because the counter guy was nice and thats it. We went on a referral from a friend while camping and had some pretty good Mexican. The BRC burritos and the flautas were awesome. I had carne asada and it was pretty good. I have a hard time when the sour cream and guacamole outnumber the amount of meat, but it was still tasty. A friend had the Gorditas and said they were just ok. Quesadilla was a white cheese which was interesting. I had the Shrimp Ceviche and it was a little bland but had potential. Overall not the BEST mexican ever, esp since there is a lot in the area, but they do have La Michoacana ice cream bars and that in and of itself got it it's extra star. read more

The chile relleno burrito was fab! Big, cheesy, yummy! And huge, did I mention that? At first I was a bit confused because the menu was in Spanish, but the guy at the counter pointed me to the English version sitting on the counter. Oh, yeah. Seating is ample, considering that it's a small store -- about 6 tables inside and about 5 tables outside. No I didn't count tables, but no one was standing around waiting to find a table at lunch on a Sunday. They give you squirt bottles of red and green salsa as the cashier told me that they would. We end up in Carpinteria or nearby quite a bit in the summer. On our way home from Santa Barbara, we decided to try Reyes Market and were glad we did. Although I can figure out what's offered on their Spanish language menu, they do have their menu in English on the counter. They get points for that! I had a ceviche tostada, which I wish had more lemon than vinegar, but it was well presented and had good sized fish chunks. I also had a tamale, which they said was house made, and it was good, too. My husband was very pleased with his burrito. There are tables inside and a shaded outside patio area as well. Everything seemed clean and we were happy that we tried a new place - it's nice to go to places that have been locally owned for many years. read more
