I had a great experience with Alex at Value Auto Repair. I originally reached out through Yelp, and he was responsive and answered all of my questions. His pricing was significantly better than what the dealership quoted me, but what really stood out wasn't just the price--it was his honesty. I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to see him, several appeared to be repeat customers, and there was an obvious level of trust between them. After my own experience, I completely understand why. Alex also has a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Most importantly, the humming noise is completely gone, and my car drives perfectly again. Ended up getting a second vehicle for some time, brought the infinit to get it worked on, he dragged his feet for almost 4 months to get it done, had to make several calls to get anything done. I shouldn't have come back after that but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Tried to come back for something as simple as replacing a transmission cooling hose about 9 months later and he gives me the round around about getting the part that's needed, I catch him in an out right lie and subsequently get pushed off with the "I'll let ya know when the parts in the shop" which shouldn't have taken almost two weeks now. All the while I'm driving around waiting for him to get the part and the car could have a major issue leaving me on the side of the road, which Jake seems to be perfectly okay with. As a man, much less as a marine, you should have the bàlls to just tell me you're not interested in keeping me as a client but I guess veteran to veteran you don't seem to have much respect for someone whose given you a good amount of business over the years. Suppose you can't expect to much from a Harris supporter.

I have used Jimmy several times and haven't had any problems until recently, when he hired help. He is allowing his help to work on cars, and the help is not experienced. I have told Jimmy several times that his help would be the cause of his downfall. I understand that everybody must start somewhere, but having him actually working on the cars in Jimmy's absence should not be allowed. I had my rotors and brake pads changed on my Jaguar, and when I arrived to pick it up, the helper was the one doing the job. When I drove off, I discovered that he had broken my tire sensor, and Jimmy had to replace it when I arrived back home from Arizona. If you use him, you're taking a chance. And when you approach him about a situation, his attitude is, "Oh, well, I'm sorry, and it won't happen again." I wish him luck, but he doesn't listen.
