I have been going to Meister Tech for well over 35 years. He has taken care of a Volvo Turbo Diesel, a number of BMW, Mercedes, GM and Lexus vehicles over that time for me. Best to make an appointment. Plan ahead because he is usually booked for at least one week, sometimes two weeks. The amount of money I have saved and the confidence I have in them makes it worth for me to drive 30 miles to get to their repair shop. I usually arrive before they open (8 am) to allow for my car to cool down so they can work on it as soon as they open. The first brake job and oil change was about 40% of what it cost me at the dealer. Finally, if a job is out of their expertise, they will tell you. read more

I brought my vehicle in yesterday because it's overheating. I dropped it off around 8am. I didn't leave the area until about 9AM and saw my vehicle had not been brought back yet for inspection, I get home and they call me at 10 saying my hoses needed replaced because they're clogged up with pellets that's why my vehicle was overheating. It was overheating before I put the stop leak in it, so I knew they were full of it and definitely did not have enough time to do a thorough inspection. As soon as he said that I knew they just unscrewed the radiator cap and looked into the pipe. The pellets dissolved immediately after pouring a tablespoon of hot water over them. When I originally called them I told them I believed my radiator and thermostat needed replaced, and he said that'd cost me between $600-$800. Then with their half assed inspection told me it was $1400 because the hoses needed replaced since they're clogged and that was the reason for the overheating. Either they didn't want to do the work which is fine but when I got there they had the audacity to try to charge me a diagnostic fee which I knew for a fact they did not do a proper inspection because it does not take less than an hour to take the vehicle apart and find the issue. I went to them because they were referred by locals but as suspected I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and as I thought the hoses are not clogged and do not need replaced. The radiator and thermostat need's replaced exactly like I told them. read more

I am visiting San Diego from Australia and just bought a used 2002 4x4 Chevy Suburban from a private seller. I have good mechanical skills, and normally do as much work on my vehicles as possible. While I was inspecting the Suburban at purchase, I noticed a potential oil leak from the rear backing plate behind the brakes. A good friend recommended his mechanic in Chula Vista and I took the car there a few days ago. I also wanted various fluids changed and a transmission service in preparation for a long road trip. I explained all this to the mechanic. Later that day he called me and told me I needed substantial rear brake work, that the axle oil seals were both leaking and other work. When I politely interrogated him about the reasons for the work, he abruptly told me to come and collect the car! He actually threw the keys at me on pick up. Another friend then recommended Brent and Jeremy. Today they worked on my car. They called early and told me there was nothing wrong with the brakes, or oil seals and so on. They did the other work I had wanted done. Their pricing was very fair, the invoice transparently detailed, and they took time to answer a couple questions I had at the end. I regard these mechanics as being in the superior category for both quality of work, and ethics. They are wonderful representatives in a world full of dishonest mechanics. These guys are great, highly recommended. My toyota SUV broke down in Las Vegas recently. My car was towed to a shop that said I had blown a head gasket and would need a new engine for $8,000. I decided to have my car auto transported home instead. Brent at meister tech gave it a second look, told me I had in fact not blown a head gasket and the fail safe in my car had caused the engine to stop working in the extreme heat. The real problem was a leaking hose from my coolant to oil tank. He fixed this for $115, much better then $8,000. I owe them more then a good review. Thanks guys. read more

I have taken my car to Meister Tech for the last couple years and they are so honest it is unbelievable. I took my car in last week because my brakes were squeaking and my friend said I needed brakes. I also thought there was an issue with the steering and asked them to check the transmission as my car has high miles and I was worried it was going to go out. I also needed an oil change. I dropped it off in the morning and they called me a few hours later and asked me why I thought I needed brakes. I told them about the squeaking and they said that was because the pads were dirty and the brakes were far from needing replacement. They also said the steering issue was from wear and tear and it probably wouldn't get any worse and didn't recommend spending $1000 to fix it. They also said my transmission was fine. They said my car was ready to pick up and it would be $31 for the service. I am not an avid review writer. Only when service is exceptionally bad or exceptionally good. Had they just gone ahead and done the brakes or recommended the steering work I would have gladly had them do it as I was expecting the work needed to be done. This is by far the best auto service place I have ever been to. As a woman I often worry I will be taken advantage of by these types of places but not here. They are always busy and I usually can't get an appointment sooner than 1 week out and it's obviously because I'm not the only one who has figured out how great these guys are! read more

If you're looking for an honest auto mechanic, look no further. My Camry has been having an issue over the past few weeks, my car was making a clunking noise when steering. I'd been researching it online and could not figure out what the problem was. I decided to take it to Toyota to get it checked out. They diagnosed it as a bad intermediate shaft and quoted me $750 for the repair. I was getting ready to bite the bullet when I decided to look around Yelp for a local mechanic to get a second opinion. I saw Meister had great reviews so I decided to take my car in. I explained to Jeremy what Toyota's diagnosis was and that I wanted a second opinion. Within a few hours he called me back explaining that it was simply a few loose bolts on my rack and pinion and that the noise was gone. The inspection/job cost me $45. I recognize that Jeremy could have easily agreed with Toyota just to make some extra money. This is my first Yelp review ever, a testament of how happy I was with the experience. read more

Long over due but still wanted to let Brent know that I appreciate the work he did on my BMW. He's shop was at the perfect place when I needed a mechanic. My muffler fell apart right on Jamacha Road and as I was frantically calling AAA and walking around the area, it just happened that Brent's shop was right around the corner from where I happened to be parked at. So, I walked in inside and asked Brent if he could fix my muffler and the next day, my car was fixed and haven't had any problems ever since and drove my car all the way across country without any problems. I was looking for a good place to get my oil change done. Note to self: Never ever go to Wal-Mart. They told me they couldn't replace a filter, that I had to go to dealership because they didn't have the tool they needed to get to it. WHAT?? It's Wal-Mart for goodness sake. Don't they sell tools?? Anyhow I found Meister and not only did he do my oil change, he also replaced my brakes and the right rear light and charged me LESS than what he quoted me over the phone. He is pretty much a one man shop. You won't be disappointed in bringing your vehicle here. I am a single gal, and I have had repair shops try to take advantage of me...I wrote a review about that place trying to tell me I needed new brakes ASAP....beware if you ever go to Evans Tires in El Cajon. There are guys there trying to rip you off. I drove on those brakes for 2 years before I finally had them changed at Meister Tech.
