Chicken & Fried Shrimp & Chicken Combo and Fried Fish (Meal)
Jay S.

Place is warm and welcoming with friendly service. Food was delicious. Ordered the chicken and shrimp meal with chili beans and potato salad and my wife had the fried fish with the baked beans and mac and cheese. Chicken was light and crispy and the chili beans had a good spice to them.

In town again. Tried the food - same as before, chicken and fish combo, again! Delicious again! This time however, the delivery was speedy and the food was fresh and soulfully good. No delays or long wait as before. So, I had to come back to give the all the stars

Oxtails with Potato Salad, Mac&Cheese

I didn't get to feel the ambiance because I ordered thru DoorDash. I ordered the smothered oxtails with a side of cornbread, Potato salad, and Cheesy Mac. Delivery was fast because the oxtails are prepared ahead of time for the Wednesday special. The oxtails were tender and smothered in a brown gravy, potato salad was okay and the Mac cheese had a thick layer of cheese crust on top. The cornbread was dry af, just kinda crumbled. The oxtails reminded me of my mom's beef stew so yes you get that home cooked meal feeling with this dish. I think if you ever miss your mom's cooking, this is the dish. Maybe that's the real meaning to soul food, home cooked meals by mama:)

Food ok Service good Ambiance meh Food overall was ok. I'm just not a fan of oven cooked ribs and over cooked Mac. If I was in the area again I would not come back.

Recently been coming here for their oxtail plate!! It had me coming back again days later for the same plate lol they only serve it on Wednesdays and Sundays. Omg they sure know how to do em right. Sucked the meat off them bones. lmao it was so tender! And it comes with rice and gravy.. two sides and cornbread. I always get greens and Mac n cheese. Both really good! Cornbread Is ok.. crumbled quickly but it's still being ate! Also got banana pudding for dessert as well as peach cobbler. Both were equally delicious but the banana pudding is the clear winner!!! Love the layers of nilla wafers, banana slices and whip cream. My bf got a 3 meat plate with the same sides. He smashed on his plate! The food was smackin!!! Service is great as well!! He remembered me from last Sunday I came back Wednesday for the same thing lmao this is my only go to spot now for oxtails!!

Saw the amazing reviews about this place on Yelp so had to try. I thought the whole menu would be available daily. A little disappointed that they didn't offer gumbo. Service was meh. Originally was brought the wrong food. Once we got our food, we really liked it. I got the fish and chicken combo. Was good, but between my wife and I, all the chicken was legs. Son got the ribs and hot links. He enjoyed it as well. Cornbread was dry. Would come here again but wouldn't go out of my way.

I went there two different times and they burnt my chicken and my conworker allergic to shrimp she stated that and they still added it on the plate. Drove there to grab lunch that's she couldn't eat smh.

Someone told me about this spot and they haven't even tried it, but been hearing good things about it. We were on this side of town and I said ooo let's try this place. We were greeted and got our order in. We ordered 3 plates (oxtail over rice, fried fish, and fried chicken). We loved everything. All of our sides were delicious. I loved the flavor of the baked beans and yams. The potato salad was good too. I didn't get to try the corn bread but can only imagine how good that is too. Staff were kind! We will be back.

Triple Plate (with baked beans and yams)

This highly-rated soul food restaurant has daily specials, weekend BBQ, and combination platters, and does deliveries. Rhapsody's is also a popular choice for take-out orders. I noticed many more orders for take-out than for those who chose to dine in, like the two times I did here. The sticky dining tables and worse, sticky and slippery floors may have to do with this. The griminess of the restaurant might turn off patrons. There are some clear hit-and-misses with the dishes. The fried fish was my favorite dish here. The skin was crispy, lightly seasoned, and juicy, and the meat was firm but flaky inside. The baked candied yams were perfect, not too sweet, bright orange, cinnamon-spiced, moist, and tender. Sadly, I am not a fan of their fried chicken. I ordered it for both of my two visits. The meat was a little dry and dark - probably from frying it in the same old cooking oil - and I did not care for the mild seasoning. The skin was also very oily. The collard greens and cabbage mix had too many onions, overwhelming the taste and texture of it. Going into a manageable amount of detail for a three-star rating is fine. What I like here: fried fish, yams, BBQ beans, mac n' cheese, Kool-Aid available during the summer months. What I didn't like: fried chicken, mixed greens, sticky and slippery floors. The owner/manager of the restaurant is very nice and appreciates all the business. A few dishes - namely the shrimp and grits on Fridays, and the oxtail special on Wednesdays and Sundays have me enticed to try them in the future.

Great fried chicken. Large pieces with flavor. Beans were different from what I used to, but good. I would eat here again.

Well, this is THE chicken place this side of Humboldt, TN, with all due respect to my Grandmother …read more The fried chicken is breaded, but not too much, fried all the way to the bone, but not burnt, & flavorful. In a word, delicious. The Mac N Cheese is baked & hot & tasty. My wife really liked the Collards & enjoyed her chicken thighs. Servers are very attentive. This place is really small & the ambiance is Dayton, OH funk (think Roger & Lakeside) which made this former Gem City resident happy. They only have a few tables so most of their business seems to be take out. Everything is cooled to order so there is a wait, but it is well worth it. I will be back to try the catfish. 5-stars

I'm not too close to Fresno but would recommend this to anyone who is in the area. I would make it a point to come back again if I were in the area for sure! My husband got the chicken and waffles while I ordered one of their specials of the day - rib tips. I got mashed potatoes and macaroni on the side (they were delicious but definitely regretted not trying other sides). The rib tips were perfect, smokey and tender. The fried chicken was sooo crispy and juicy. I do prefer crispier waffles, but it still went well with the very crispy chicken. The portions are plentiful, I had enough for a second meal.

I love Heirloom. This place is definitely the gem of Fresno! It's not a fancy, high-end restaurant,…read morebut they absolutely know how to plate and make food that keeps their customer come back for more. Their dishes have their own unique twist, and while they may not always follow the traditional recipe, everything is incredibly flavorful and statisfying. The flavors are simple, approachable, and easy to enjoy. Making it a spot that almost everyone would love. They mainly focus on the new American table. A little fusion of some other ethnicity food here. They mainly focus on their limited menu and always wing it everytime. The consistency is always on point. I love their fresh farm to table ingredients. Their plate is super affordable and beautiful. AMBIANCE :: This place is always pack. The line are always long but it does move up pretty quick too. Indoor is always pack and stuff. They do have a large patio too. I wouldn't really recommend sitting out in the patio during the hottest time of the day but it's not that bad too. They do have mist and coolers outside. Artificial leaves covering up the place cools it down a lot too. The PROS for dinning in the patio is the fresh air. SERVICE : Is great. With the high volume of guest and crowed it is. They are so patient and friendly. RATE : 5/5 PLATES :: If you're undecided and wanted a little bit of everything. I recommend choosing a plate. You get a little bit of everything. Ill say everything taste generic but so good too. WOOD GRILLED PROTEIN : SHRIMP W/ GARLIC BUTTER : Their garlic butter shrimp is so buttery. It's slightly seasoned and salted. RATE : 5/5 WOOD GRILLED PROTEIN : SALMON W/ TZATZIKI SAUCE : I love their soft salmon with a lightly crispy crust. Llightly seasoned. It's not fishy and gamey at all. I love their tzatziki sauce and it paired so well with the lemon juice too. RATE : 5/5 WOOD GRILLED PROTEIN : ANCHO CRUSTED PRIME TRI TIP : Nicely seasoned and salted. It's always come out medium rare, tender and juicy. RATE : 5/5 NOTE :If you like medium rare pieces of beef. Go for their tri tip. If you wanted more cook go for their ribeye. The cons about their ribeye is that they are not consistent. You can ask to be remade but it does take them awhile to cook it too. SIDES : TEPPANYAKI FRIED RICE W/ BACON : I love their bacon teppanyaki rice. It's probably a must have everytime you go there. I love their sweet sauce on top of the rice. It's a kids favorite choice too. The sodium level is perfect. Usually bacon would overly salted it but this fried rice is perfect. RATE : 5/5 SIDES : RIGATONI W/ SAUSAGE, PECORINO : Straight up generic boiled pasta with sour tomato sauce and sausage. It's so simple but its ok. I'll say this could be kids top 2nd favorite side dish. RATE : 4/5 FOUNTAIN DRINKS :: I love their unique fountain drinks. It's mainly focus on Mexican fountain drinks. OVERALL :: Sometimes the best food isnt about being authentic. It's about being delicious, the art, and this restaurant definetly delivers. I can already see myself coming back for more!

As usual there was a line, it took about 15-20mins for us to get to the front and orders taken. I haven't been here in years and I really missed it! I also ordered my kids from the lil sprouts: spaghetti with butter & parm. We requested for patio seat since we had our munchkins were with us. I've never seat in their patio area, it was wonderful! Shade, misters and ac though it was a hot 90 degree weather it was very cool and comfortable! Our food came out quickly and plated beautifully! Large portions. The food was amazing! So much flavors. The salmon paired perfectly well with the tzatziki sauce. The pasta was and the fried rice was delicious! The kids meal was also large portioned and enough for my kids to share and they enjoyed it. For dessert we ordered their frozen greek yogurt the baklava & honey was yum! Perfect treat to top our lunch! Will always recommend this place! I decided to try this restaurant while passing through Fresno, and I'm so glad I did. The reviews…read morespoke highly not only of the food, but also of the people--and they were absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, Cindy and the entire team at The Berrock Shop welcomed us with genuine kindness and warmth. The environment was so warm, comfortable, and inviting that after a long drive, it immediately felt like a place where you could relax and enjoy yourself. It's clear they care deeply about the experience they create for every customer. The food was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and exactly what we needed after being on the road. But what truly stood out was the hospitality. It's rare to find a place where you feel less like a customer and more like family, and that kind of experience stays with people. This is actually my very first Yelp review, which hopefully says something about how strongly I feel about this restaurant. I will gladly go out of my way to stop here again. And for those who live in Fresno, I would absolutely encourage you to support this local business. Restaurants with this kind of heart, care, and welcoming atmosphere deserve to be celebrated and supported by the community.

I had three items off their menu, the patty melt, chicken pot pie, and the shredded roast berrock…read more The patty melt was the least offensive thing I ordered, being just alright. it was a bit overcooked at the edges, so the crust had a burnt taste. Patty and onions were decent. Pot pie was edible, but not great. The whole thing was dry, and the crust is a quickbread crust instead of a pie crust, which made it worse. They try to make up for it by giving you an extra serving of gravy on the side, but if you know your food is dry you should fix it instead of putting a bandaid over it. The Berrock was the absolute worst. I bit into it and it just tasted like salt. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I got into the meat portion of it and took another bite. Pure freaking salt. It's like someone decided salt is the only necessary seasoning for their food. I couldn't even taste the flavor of the meat itself over the taste of salt. I ended up throwing it away after two bites. If the best this shop can do is "it's okay" then I've zero reason to come back.

Food ordered: Fire Chicken Combination Plate…read more Beef Yaki Udon Pickled Radish The fire chicken plate is always delicious. My siblings crave it at least once a month! I love the Yaki Udon and usually get it spicy. All their food is always made fresh to order and with lots of love. Service: The service is great! We are always immediately seated and offered drinks within the first few minutes upon entering. Throughout the meal, we weren't checked on. I wish they would put water pitchers on the table for the customers so we wouldn't have to always ask for a water refill. Unfortunately, there have been times where my family and I have gone but it's so busy and we never got refills for waters. Ambiance: Great, cozy, warm atmosphere. They have large flat screen tvs that usually play compilation videos on them. I wish they synced the tvs up to play kdramas or kpop on them instead. Every time I've gone, the tvs are usually turned off or playing funny/meme compilations from YouTube. I think many of their customers would enjoy a Korean show while eating Korean food! On Friday's, the truck is out at the Manchester Center farmer's market. We tried the jerk wings, pulled pork sandwich, hush puppies, and sweet potato fries. I would say the wings are the crown jewel of the menu. They remained crispy despite the delicious sauce that was slathered on it. The sauce was quite delicious itself, with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. The pulled pork was dressed in a "sweet and sassy" sauce, which was rather tangy. It seemed to be more of a vinegar based sauce. The coleslaw was also on the tangy side. The bun was slightly toasted as well, a nice added touch. Next on the list, hush puppies. They were great! Crispy and slightly spicy with a hint of jalapeño. On to the sweet potato fries; they were different. There was some type of sweet savory seasoning on the fries. It reminded me of Thanksgiving. Overall, the food tasted good. I would definitely check this place out again, especially since they were not serving mac n cheese on the day we went out to try their food. Next time fore sure!
