Upscale barbershop with a luxury mindset, but charging affordable prices. I came here because of a flyer that was in my mail the other week offering a $5 coupon off and that they also had a $5 off student/military/first responders discount. This is really unheard of and appreciated, especially that its less than a mile away from CSUF and walking distance from the new student housing on Chapman. I appreciated the interior as the esthetic is welcoming and feels like im in Newport Beach. I had Luis who was pleasant to converse with and he shared some cool info about the name of Rhodes and the musical history in Fullerton. I've tried out a few local-ish barbers for my kid but it was actually his idea to try this place out. The banner outside caught his eye & we've been to the donut shop a couple of times on that same block too so we decided to just walk in to set up an appointment to get a good feel for the place. It felt like an immediate vibe & everyone was extremely welcoming & friendly. Personally I liked the overall design of the shop - yes, the sage on the countertop caught my eye so I knew this was going to be a perfect fit for us. Setting up an appointment was super simple & it was really cool to be able to chit-chat & meet the person who would be taking care of the haircut itself. I feel like the little extra effort of getting aquainted is worth it, especially for kids because they're the ones having their hair cut & styled. If it's not a good fit, I'm not gonna make him do it. When the day came, I was not at all surprised that both of our expectations were not only met but exceeded. Luis took the time to consult with my kid & even showed him a few styles to choose from. He even got to have his hair washed out, which out of all of the times he's been to a barbershop, they never did. For a boy to experience all the finer things that come with self care is important to me so that as he gets older, he knows what it should be like taking time for grooming & self care. I am not going to look any further than Rhodes Barbershop nor will I be wasting my time someplace else if an appointment is not available. Got a cut here right before Coachella and walked out feelin' fresh! I went in for a quick haircut and ended up having one of the best experiences. The razor scissor cut style, fade, texture, and eyebrow slit came out perfect. The shop itself is super modern, smells earthy like sandalwood and stone vibes with candles all around , felt more like a chill lounge than a barbershop. The owner is the barber, super knowledgeable and down-to-earth. Turns out he used to perform at Coachella back when it first started...wild! We had a great convo while he worked. we moved to the area a few months ago and have tried a couple barber shops around town. We haven't been happy with service received for the amount we have been paying. Not to mention the last place we went to we had to wait 30mins for the barbers to return from the bar next door. So as we were driving through the shopping center checking out what stores were around us we came across Rhodes. We decided to drop in a give it a try. We are so very glad we did. The shop is super cool with its Industrial style and music memorabilia. Luis was awesome with my son and gave him the hair cut he asked for while keeping him entertained.
