I think it depends on the vibe you're looking for. Is it definitely an older hotel? Yes. But I don't think the rooms it weren't good or anything and I love that you could go on the porch and see the pool and the day that we were there they had karaoke so that was fun. The bar was a little lackluster. The woman wasn't very friendly.But other than that, the lady at the front desk goes very friendly. I mean, I think it was a wicked cute hotel. I do think they need a little update around their pool area and and not being a little heated, was a little difficult other than that, it's pretty cute. read more

We have stayed here a few times when visiting a relative who lives close by. This Inn has been in existence for many years. It is older and very comfortable ( sort of like us). The rooms are nice and clean. Very quiet which helped us recover from our long road trip from Texas. Included in the price is a more than adequate continental breakfast served in a pleasant dining room. For your morning constitution, a walk or two around the property will help to get your day off to a good start. The staff are all pleasant and welcoming . If you like to be in a room that is 1980 with your grandmothers old worn out furniture, carpet from 2000 and beds from the 90's this place is for you. Oh did I mention you'd desire a bathroom with rusty baseboard heat registers and a CRACKED bathtub call them up and rent your room. We checked in, walked to our room and went right to the front desk to check out. Seriously, this place is a lovely location but it needs MAJOR updating. Great staff and an older hotel but very clean. Only thing was the rug in the room but You can they are updating when they can. The Staff are hard working and super accommodating. Even with problems with our booking it went very smoothly. Great Continental breakfast, clean pool, and so many other options all on grounds. Have been coming here for almost 30 years! Cannot say enough good things about the Rhumb Line. Family-oriented relaxing location in a great Maine town. Prices are great. Amenities including both indoor and outdoor pools (regular and heated!). Complimentary daily breakfast selection. Outdoor bar/restaurant that even the locals come to! Well-appointed rooms with great wifi. Staff is wonderful and very attentive. Our kids are now grown and we've just introduced our grandchild to this wonderful location. read more

Rhumb line could be named run line - away. Totally outdated. Bed was on a slant. Room and areas were from the 1960s. Staff was lackluster and not overly warm. Just spent two nights here. The decor is a bit tired, but the rooms passed my requirements with flying colors. The shower was hot, the room got dark, and the AC worked well and was easy to adjust. The outside pool area was very clean and well kept, as was the outside grill where we had very good lobster rolls. The free breakfast was a bit dull, but it was well organized and clean. It was just all right and you don't always get what you pay for. So looking forward to enjoy the in ground jacuzzi, when I went to use it, there were signs saying the jets were broke. I asked the front desk when they would be working. I was told they didn't know. I would have thought on a busy 4th of July holiday, everything would be working. No elevator. It's a Kennebunkport so everything's expensive if you're looking for fancy, this is not the place decent continental breakfast served for free indoor and outdoor pools and Jacuzzi the Jacuzzi's were not working, but the water was still hot. The staff is extremely helpful/kind and they were willing to go above and beyond to accommodate our large group. We stayed here for a week and the rooms aren't that clean. They didn't offer daily cleaning either. They need major updates. They feel like the last time they were painted and floors deep cleaned was 1995. Twenty five years ago. They rent out the pool to the community. So the indoor pool didn't feel too clean. I liked the outdoor hot tub. The breakfast was fair. The outdoor takeaway summer food stand was decent too. But if it weren't for it being high season in the summer and a wedding and looking last minute I wouldn't come back here. It's a bit better then what you'll find in old orchard. Not much going on at this place. We stayed for one night while traveling to Acadia National Park. The staff was very friendly and ready to help, but we were surprised at the lack of amenities. Continental breakfast consisted of hard boiled eggs, bagels, and cereal. Signs advertised a sauna but it was locked and looked like it hadn't functioned in over 20 years. No microwave in the room and no elevators. Overall it just didn't seem worth the price, however there weren't any major issues with our stay. read more

This place has been around for a long time. We have stayed here many many times. We like the poolside rooms. The rooms we stay in have 2 Queen beds. The bedding was crip white like the higher end hotels have. They have a gym, 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. Due to covid restrictions breakfast was continental so we only had hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal from a pack, bagels, toast juice coffee and tea. My only complaint is the indoor pool. While we were here there was a LARGE family round 15. They would set up camp at the indoor pool play loud music talk loud and eat in there. It made it impossible for others to social distance and be able to enjoy the area. The weather wasn't great so the outdoor pool which is heated was not warm enough. The staff are awesome. The bar area is always busy in a good way. The restaurant has a small menu but all the food is great! read more

What a mess! They are in desperate need of cleaning and good helpful staff! Our room was a mess, dirty and NO ONE cared accept Katie! She was helpful and apologized got the dirty room. She told Shelia, but she never addressed it with us. I went back to the desk the next day to talk to her and she didn't care at all! Do waste your hard earned money at this place! "Meh. I've experienced better" just about sums it up. Let me start by saying that the 2 women we came in contact with at the front desk couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Also, the beds were really comfortable, the rooms were quiet, and there was wireless internet. The bathrooms were clean and had great water pressure. Now on to the "Meh" The hotel has a "no-tell motel" vibe to it, and resort it is not. It hasnt been redecorated since the 80's, however the bathroom seemed to be a little newer. The hallways are shabby and there was a low-tide smell. There is a cute little restaurant/bar in the middle of the resort and i had such high hopes. There are bar seats and table seats, food and beer. After a long day exploring the area we wanted nothing more than to kick back at the bar. It all went downhill from there. I asked for a water and was pointed to a plastic jug that had been sitting in the sun all day. Request for ice was denied. It tasted rancid. After being ignored by the young bartender for 20 minutes while he waited on friends we finally were able to ask for a drink, only to never get it. Before getting annoyed and leaving i overheard him telling another customer to make sure they tip enoughfor him and the kitchen guy. I couldnt beleive it. Overall it was... Meh. Gosh, I feel bad giving this place a "Meh" rating, but just can't help myself! I suppose the first reason would be the fact that the place is way off the beaten path, and we weren't prepared for that, and secondly, we were certain that it was much closer to the water, but quickly learned that this was not the case. Perhaps I didn't do my homework on this particular place.. "Surly" would be the best description for the woman that was working at the front desk when we arrived in the afternoon - she was unwelcoming, and a little put out that I asked about the trolley that they advertised in the lobby, "you're too late!" she replied. The room was a bit of a schlep from the lobby (and breakfast room), with no paths, so in the morning, one had to trudge through wet grass for breakfast. The room itself was very basic (which is fine, given the price), the bed was comfortable and it was clean with a nice balcony that overlooked the pool area. I think the layout of the place is very strange, in fact we managed to get lost in the hallways a few times, simply trying to find a better path to the breakfast area so we could avoid the wet grass - no go. Favorite thing about Kennebunkport? Watching the tide quickly move in and out of the little harbor, and the clam chowder at the local's hangout (sorry, can't remember the name!), and the least favorite thing? All the political crap in the gift stores - talk about pandering to the Bush family! read more

So I went back here for a stay just last week, and you know, it's pretty much exactly the same as my other review, clean, the beds are VERY comfy, I should have asked them what kind of mattress they were because they are like sleeping on a cloud, and to a traveler weary about bedbugs, don't worry, the plague of bedbugs has never reached here (yet). Anyways, One thing that has changed is that I didn't really like their in-house restaurant quite as much, I had a buffalo chicken sandwich thing and it was kinda bad, the chicken was okay but maybe it was the bun or something, and don't use the Worcestershire sauce, because it EXPIRED in 2009! I told them about it but it is probably still there. Bottom line, come for the room itself and the pool/hot tub, skip the restaurant. read more

Oh my goodness....our internet did NOT work. The bed was incredibly UNCOMFORTABLE! I could barely sleep last night. We had to stay 2 nights. The second day when we dropped in to get some things, the chemical cleaner was left by my toothbrush..... This is not a resort. And if you do not need the internet and are able to sleep on rock-like mattresses then you will be able to get through this place. Should definitely be much cheaper. Ok so they hotel has great amenities. The pools are amazing, they have corn hole boards, can jam, a fire pit, and an outdoor restaurant and bar. My only and BIGGEST complaint is EVERY amenity is open to the public. We couldn't get near the pool, we waited over an hour for food, we couldn't enjoy the amenities all because the public was here. They kicked someone out of their table so a "party" could sit there. We waited 1 hour for a public party of 25 people to get their food! We had balls thrown over our heads multiple times! We called the owner and told her everything! She accused us of lying to her! She also said if she sees this she'll write back! Well where are you?!? Awful place for ANYONE who isn't local. This "resort" was okay. That's about it. The wooden chairs need to be refinished, the carpets need to be cleaned and the lighting needs to be updated. The water pressure was great, and the bed/couch was very soft. Would I stay again, maybe, the price was really good and it's close to most things. Would I suggest it to someone who was looking for a nice get away? Probably not. If you want to save money then this is the way to go. I don't think I'd call it a resort though. read more

Stay somewhere else unless you get a great rate and have low expectations. We booked about a month in advance. $229 weekends, $199 during the week for each room. We booked the 2-room suite (so $560 per night on weekends) which came with a "kitchen." The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and there were spiders in the room. There mattress was awful. One person sat on the bed, the other person practically went airborne. There was a small stain on the sheets. There was a "pull out couch" (single) that was circa 1990 with the mattress, in the few places it was still supported, at a 30 degree angle. The sheets looked like they had never been changed. There was a cube refrigerator that had not been defrosted in so long that you could barely fit an ice pop in it. But we had the kitchen so no worries, right? Nope. Dorm-size fridge, so tiny freezer and also in need of defrosting, so basically useless. Full size stove, but only one pot that would hold about 2 cups of water, and a baking sheet. The resort sold "memberships" to locals to use the pool and hot tub, but nobody checked memberships, and the word apparently was out around town because on Friday and Saturday nights, the parking lot was full of locals, arriving with bottles of alcohol. We couldn't get near the pool or hot tub or fire pit all weekend. On Sunday night we could finally get near the firepit, but they had only 3 pieces of wood. We bought some for Monday night (no kidding) and sat around the fire with people who booked only a few days before and paid $129 and $79 (vacancies due to covid). On the weekend, we went to the front desk to ask about the standing-room only crowd in the outdoor hot tub. The girl behind the desk said she was 16 and was wondering who all of the people were, too. When checking out, I was asked how my say was, and mentioned some of the above list. The response was "Yes, we know we need to replace those couches." We paid about $3k for 3 rooms for 5 nights. It was worth about a third of that. We had relatives staying in a mini suite. They had to change to a cleaner room and it was still miserable. In fairness, the beds in one the 5 rooms that we rented seemed somewhat new and comfortable. If you go, make sure you ask when your room was renovated. Oh - no wifi service in the area we were, and no cell service either. read more

Tim is the person who checked us in and was very helpful with recommendations and drew on a map for us. Hotel is a mile or two away from downtown area, but clean and nice. Our room had two queen beds, and was one of the recently updated ones. There was a balcony to the room that overlooks the outdoor pool and hot tub. There is a fridge in the room as well. There is a continental breakfast offered in the morning that includes cereal, assorted pastries, coffee, juice, waffles, etc. It's a nice little hotel that fits the feel of this small town, so don't expect Vegas quality at any of the hotels in this area. Great for kids. Not the Taj, but you can be comnfortable there. Two pools and hot tubs make the outside weather irrelevant and the staff couldn't have been nicer! Take the Trolly tour through town and they drop you off at the beaches. Take a right out of the driveway and you're on your way to the beautiful coast and gorgeous homes. read more

To get to your first floor room you have to GO DOWN. many steps but can walk out to the pool by the back door in your room If you stay on the second floor which is on the street level you must use stairs to get to the pools or dining room. Paid $600 for a two night stay in a room that wasn't clean and had evidence of water damage and black mold, particularly in the bathroom where there were drop ceilings installed - for the love of God, don't look up if you plan to take a shower. Thankfully we were there for a wedding and only needed the room for a few hours of sleep each night. The woman working the front desk was rude as hell when we checked in. (Our room wasn't ready an hour after the scheduled 3p check in time and I informed her we all had to shower prior to our wedding and she accused me of "being difficult" before finding us a different room). The bar/eating area by the pool was nice, including a very friendly bartender and polite waitstaff and I got a pretty good cocktail and a surprising great burger. This is the only good thing I can say about the place. Don't believe the 5 star reviews - these are clearly friends of the owners or managers. Notice every other review is a single star? Had an awesome weekend in Kennebunkport despite this disappointing "resort". Worst review I have ever left for a hotel or resort and I honestly debated keeping it to myself, but people deserve to know when they are about to spend almost $300 a night on a room w/ mold in it. read more
