Maybe she needed an "S" shaped hook to hang something. Or maybe she needed a small pot. Sometimes it was a specific type of filter for the sink drain. Other times it's a uniquely shaped brush. Now, you might think nowadays you can just go to Target or Walmart for such things but you'd be wrong. It is kind of amazing how much stores like that *do not* have. That is where stores like KK Discount Store come into play. Back in the 80's and 90's (even the early 2000's) there were at least 4-5 stores in Chinatown that sold these kind of wares, but no longer. KK remains one of the last ones and I am so thankful it is there. As soon as you walk up to the store you see a ton of products outside the store. Sponges, soaps, things to hang your laundry, organizers, strainers...I'm not kidding when I say you could spend hours just going through every single little thing this store has. Inside are several aisles worth of housewares. There is an aisle with pots, pans and other cooking instruments. Another aisle has bowls, plates and utensils. Yet, a different aisle has items like incense. On a recent visit I was looking for a container for bar soap for me to carry to the gym. I tried Target and other bigger stores first but it was Ultimately KK that had what I needed! The couple that runs the shop are super nice and always open to questions about where to find a product. This store is also very reasonably priced. I recently purchased a couple scouring pads and it only cost me $1.50! I'm sure they would have been more at Home Depot or something (assuming they even had them). This may not be the most touristy spot to visit in Chinatown but I think stores like this are valuable to the fabric of the community and they have a lot to offer. Give KK a visit!

The lines are ridiculously long compared to other locations but it's worth it for the savings you're going to get. They have a lot of good deals here especially the St. Ives apricot scrub that costs around $3 compared to your local pharmacy store where it's around $10! Disposable razors and Dove body wash are all affordable here. Prices are very low here. Also they got black legging tights that are very affordable. Lots of socks and bras that you can get for cheap prices. They also pack of 5 tapes and 48 pack of Kirkland batteries for $12.99, which is definitely way cheaper than Costco! Lots of seasonal products like Christmas ornaments and decor for cheap prices. Just the style to my opinion is very glittery and too flashy for my taste. I try to come here time to time to score good deals because their products are sometimes ever changing. Sometimes they gave the same products and other times they got new products on their shelves. I must admit Nordstrom organizes their jewelry well. All the boxes were neatly displayed on their shelves. Just the bad thing is the top shelf is very high and you need assistance or a ladder to look at them so that sucks. This is one of the most organized stores ever with all the accessories lined up and stored in an orderly fashion. There are rarely any loose accessories or misplaced product in the store. Made the shopping vibe feel a lot better. It is also very clean and carpet is nice to walk on without any dirt or loose garbage. By the checkout, there are aisles of mini and travel size lotions and facial cleansers from Kiehl's and Clinique that are almost winding down so they are that popular! I thought the cashiers were kind of slow because there were 3 of them working on the customers when there were so many cashier registers available for employees to go to. It also doesn't seem to be that organized in terms of style. The entrance floor tends to have more of the classier/higher quality items, in my opinion. The bottom floor has more casual/lounge wear. I wasn't sure if this was a thrift store at first, or a discount store. It is very similar to Job Lot. Everything's here. They have clothes, snacks, makeup, books, home supplies etc. but no neckties. This store is pretty messy, and very random with its inventory, but the prices are very low. I had to walk around for a while to find someone to ask about their merchandise. It is nice to have a store like this in an expensive and overpriced city, especially for the residents.
