We didn't have an appointment but when we arrived the girl working the desk (Abby) said there were no bookings so we could come in. She showed us the animals and explained the details of each one, age, temperament, cost etc, and answered some of my friends additional questions which had nothing to do with the animals. We got an application and Abby went over all the costs with us so we could write them down. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. As sad of a place as an animal shelter can be, she brightened it up and made our visit enjoyable and informative. Hopefully my fiends family will adopt a cat from this location and I know when I'm looking for a an animal this will be one of my first stops. Thanks Abby and all the cats and dogs in west Warwick.

I saw a police officer on E. Greenwich Ave. and stop to ask if he had seen a white dog in the area. The police officer was extremely kind and caring. He informed me that she had already been picked up and was at West Warwick animal shelter. I immediately drove over there and when I walked in, I met a young man named Paul. Paul was absolutely AMAZING! I can't thank him enough for the concern and kindness he showed me. The shelter was clean and the few fur babies that were under their care looked comfortable and well taken care of. I gladly give this 5 STARS!!!!!!!!! Thank you for taking such good care of my baby. I am very grateful and especially, to Paul.

A…read morefriend of mine recently adopted a kitten (from another spot), so we thought it'd be fun to check out their shop and see what goodies they had. The store is conveniently located on Tiogue Ave, with a small parking lot right by it. When we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a quick rundown of their services. First up: the cat lounge. You can hang out with the cats for $20 an hour or $10 for 30 minutes, which seems super reasonable. Unfortunately, I only had about 20 minutes before a lunch reservation, so I didn't get to spend time with the cats as I'd hoped. I did though get a peek at the lounge itself through a window in a little alcove area with a coffee maker, and wow--what an awesome space for the cats! The owner even went in to give out some treats, so we got a good look at Zeus, the most majestic white Maine Coon I've ever seen. The cats looked so happy and energetic, and the lounge had plenty of seating for anyone wanting to chill and connect with the adoptable cats--there were over 10 available! After that, we spent some time browsing their small shop, which had all sorts of fun stuff: collars, custom (and funny) t-shirts, travel mugs, catnip toys, survival bracelets, door mats, coasters, air fresheners, sanitizers, chapstick holders, keychains, cross-stitches, figurines, scratchers, and more! While it was definitely stocked with lots of cool items for pet owners, I was hoping to find more stuff for my own cat. Still, it was clear they have a great selection for both cat and dog lovers. All in all, it's a cute spot and seems like a fantastic place to find your next fur baby. They also keep their Facebook page updated with adoptable cats and their hours, so it's worth checking out if you're in the area and want some quality time with the feline crowd!

There are 2 resident Maine Coons who are there all the time - they are SO big and affectionate! There must have been about a dozen cats there when we went. $10 for an adult and $5 for a child to go in. Don't remember if that was for 30 mins or an hr, but it felt like plenty of time! The one staff member there was pleasant. I just love that we have a place we can go to if we have no other plans on a rainy day. You leave full of kitty love!

Best Rescue Ever…read more.. They care, are kind and really keep track. We stop by to say hello all of the time when getting our nails done at Sylvan Animal Clinic next door. Honestly, what can I say about the place and the ladies who changed my life? When they say "rescue" you don't get it until you bring your poocher home...everything in your life changes for the better. I worked three jobs and volunteered every Friday morning and whenever else they called me to come in to scoop litter. The cages are not the cleanest and are actually sorta cramped. There are TOO many cats for the size of the place. One time they took a cat who was positive for FIV (Feline Aids) and had it in a cage squished between all of the other cages! They put blankets to isolate it but it seemed way too cramped and dangerous to me! Obviously the place is run by volunteers. I congratulate them for trying to help the cats in need. Cats need all the help they can get and I am happy this place exists. Whenever someone is looking for a cat I tell them to go here. The only problem is, the owner is the biggest asshole on the planet. Every time I tried to adopt a cat she would make up a reason it couldn't leave the shelter, even going so far as to take one of the completely healthy cats to her house! I filled out an application, brought in the $100, brought in references for one cat. When my boyfriend and I came in she harshly said the cat isn't even ready to be adopted and that I had been turned down by whatever authority looks over the papers. But I know it was just HER! She said her reason was that my mom had brought a bird back to PetCo one time and claimed I'd do the same to a cat. It was ridiculous. I argued with her because I was so hurt. I had been looking forward to adopting the cat for a month and my boyfriend and I had gotten the house ready for him. My boyfriend is a dog handler and a very kind person. I have owned cats before and love them with all my heart. But she still turned me down and said I was unfit to own a cat! That was 2 years ago and to this day I still remember it. Very offensive, rude, pushy and she can't take care of that amount of cats. One even escaped into the ceiling. I knew how to get the cat to come out and she wouldn't let me do it my way so the cat stayed up there for a week. Make sure you're 30+ years old when adopting cats or she'll be very prejudice based on your age. And apparently I am unfit to own a cat, but worthy to volunteer to take care of them... I now have three healthy, happy, loving cats. Wish I was able to adopt the cats I had liked at her shelter, but mine are just as great.

Madeline, who did the visits, is just the person you want taking care of your pet.
