As a regular reviewer, I'm always looking for spots that elevate a meal into a memory, and Ribbro BBQ in Newport Beach absolutely blew me away. My husband, our friend Brian and I came in to celebrate a huge milestone for my husband in his career, and Ribbro BBQ was the perfect choice. From the second you walk in, you get that warm, cozy, family-run mom and pop energy. It doesn't feel corporate at all. While the ambiance is wonderful, this review is really about the bold and rich flavors of EVERY item we ordered and shared. Every single bite I took, I literally closed my eyes in complete ecstasy. Every taste made me smile and say "wow" right after. The food prepared by their cook, George, is unbelievable. I was floored by the next-level tenderness of the meats. The brisket was so tender that it literally melted the second I tried grabbing some with my fork. The ribs were perfectly moist, and the pulled pork was delicious. A huge standout for us was the side of sweet potato fries. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely AMAZING. Pair those with their creamy, al dente mac & cheese and some cornbread. Also, you HAVE to try their sauces. Their Mango BBQ sauce absolutely slapped! So tasty. Combined with their Korean BBQ and mustard sauces, the flavor profile of everything goes to a whole new level. While the food is legendary, the absolute highlight of our celebration was Vickie, the owner. A high honorable mention goes to her because it was entirely because of Vickie that we had such a spectacular time. Her incredible energy, passion, and attentiveness completely transformed our celebratory meal into a true EXPERIENCE. She made us feel like guests at a friend's house. Big shoutout also to Briseida, the hostess, who welcomed us so warmly at the door. This tiny neighborhood gem is officially my new go-to BBQ fix in OC. My family and I order a variety of this. Their meat combo with three different meats. I got the ribs, the sausage and the brisket. Plus we order a half slab of ribs plus Pulled chicken. Out of all them... the sausage was hands down the best item. Brisket was blah, ribs so so. Chicken decent. But the sausage stole the flavor pallet. The staff was great, they are the ones who suggested items which I fully trusted. Just ordered delivery from Ribbro and I couldn't be happier. The food was fresh and well prepared. I went with the pork spare ribs, brisket, sausage, and mac & cheese. Almost everything was on point. The ribs were perfectly moist but could have used a little more smoke and bark (which is a personal preference). Regardless, they were delicious. The brisket was surprisingly good with the proper amount of bark and great texture. The sausage is the one thing that left something to be desired. The flavor on the sausage was great but it didn't seem like it ever got any smoke. A little time in the smoker would have made a huge difference. A little disappointing but it still has good flavor. Lastly, the mac & cheese was creamy and had a nice al dente bite to it. Heritage is the best BBQ in OC but these guys have it down. For an everyday BBQ fix this is my go-to from now on. The staff here is sweet and love what they do; it is evident in the quality and timely service which contributes to a great visit. I think the sides portions are smaller than expected but still all tasted yummy. I think the andouille sausage was a great choice if I was to recommend a "one meat" with the three sides order. I heard the sandwiches are a must try and had missed the corn bread muffins on my visit as they were still cooking and then smoking the next batch, so I'll have to try them another time. In a very unassuming and small strip mall, I went to a barbecue place, that was right next to Sgt. Pepperoni's. In all honesty, I didn't expect much because it seems like Sgt. Pepperoni's was the more popular venue, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality, service and the value proposition that this restaurant offers. Ribbro is a Korean-Texas fusion restaurant. The service is very hospitable, as the Korean American owner was very friendly and helped me navigate some of my options based on the criteria of people that I had to serve. The food itself was phenomenal. I ordered the ribs, brisket and pulled pork with cornbread, street corn and vinegar slaw. Side note: they said that they were out of the fried okra. Idek know that they served that here and the fact that they were out of it, really surprised me, sounds like they're a legit bar because spot! The way that the food was cooked was careful and precise. The ribs had a nice char flavor with grill lines without the meat being too burnt. I know that this is an obvious statement, but I really appreciate that attention to detail. You can tear off the brisket with your hands, that's how fucking tender it is, made me want to throw my glasses to the wall, AMAZING! The pulled pork was also delicious and came with the sauce already, which btw, the barbecue sauce is not too sweet and really adds to the umami-ness of the food especially the pulled pork. All in all, I really enjoyed my time here. I wish I took pictures of the food instead of eating it all so fast lol. You can really tell that there was a lot of Seoul put in this food, from the service, food quality and offerings. This spot does get busy especially on the weekends, so I took my order to go. Had been going here for years, finally tried this place again recently. This place is still amazing. I would say it is one my favorite places for BBQ in Orange County. It's just the way the meat is cooked in a way that it still comes out smoky and so juicy. No dry meat here! Only gripe is that it just seems like they are trying to save costs here and there such as paying for sauce. But I find that if you go to the store, they have some out in bottles. Beware of the tiny parking lot. Came here during lunch time and it was definitely a struggle. What we got: - BBQ Chicken Wings (5/5): Got this on a whim. Gotta say this is the best BBQ chicken wings I have ever had. The sauce on the wings is nicely coated and just love the smokiness and sweetness it. - Two meats (5/5): Andouille Sausage & Chicken. Normally I don't really get chicken breast or thigh at these places, but I was thoroughly surprised at how juicy this was. The sausage itself had a very "bitey" mouthfeel that I look forward to. - Pork Ribs (5/5): What I always come here for. This place has the best ribs, fall of the bone. This is our first visit. A small very understated strip mall kind of place. Not much seating inside. Service was very friendly and helpful. It took us a while to understand the menu to order. We tried the ribs, brisket, deep fried okra, street corn, and corn bread muffins. The okra was fried in Canola Oil. When I asked they told me Canola Oil proudly as if it was a good thing. It takes a long time for people to get the message...seed oils are killing America!!! The corn bread muffins were to die for as was the street corn. The brisket was a little fatty but that's what brisket is about and generally the chefs don't pay much attention and don't try to cut any fat off. But a kitchen that creates excellent tasting food like this one who doesn't know anything about seeds oils can't really be trusted to avoid other things that might be equally dangerous. read more

All of the sides are delicious. The brisket is so amazing, it melts in my mouth like butter. The smoke and tenderness of the chicken is perfect. The pulled pork is moist and flavorful. There are plenty of options for barbecue sauce, with one house sauce, one Korean barbecue sauce, one mustard, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce. I tried all three barbecue sauces and enjoyed each one. I love the mustard barbecue sauce with the pulled pork the next thing I tried is the cornbread. It is amazing. It has little bits of real corn and is so tender and moist. I had a brisket plate with a side of corn bread, kimchi (hey, it's an Asian twist on BBQ) and bbq beans. My friend had a big Brussels sprouts salad with chicken. Everything was very good save for the bbq beans. They were a bit bland. The corn bread was really tough to get a good bit as it was so crumbly. We ordered to-go, so can't comment on atmosphere or service. What I can comment on is price, portions, and taste. I wasn't impressed with any of it. The following was intended to feed two adults and a toddler, but honestly, I could've eaten it all myself - it was not a lot of food. And for the price we paid, we feel robbed. Very upset we chose this place for dinner. The powerhouse brisket sandwich was the best in my opinion. It was tasty, and came with plenty of sauce. However, I could literally count the number of paper-thin fries it came with - a pitifully low amount. Also - and this goes for all their sides - they come in containers barely larger than sauce containers. Like you get three bites and the sides are gone basically. We also got a two meat item plate, which came with three sides. We were excited to sample three sides until we realized how small they were. The beans, cornbread, and street corn were all a joke. Was looking for a place that would offer me a special meal for dinner. Looked online and saw this place had tons of great reviews and decided to give it a try. And boy did they deliver. I ordered the three meat platter, which comes with three sides. If you choose certain meats like the ribs or brisket each are an additional 2 dollars. I got the Pork Ribs, Brisket, BBQ Chicken and for my sides, Mac and Cheese, BBQ Beans, and Corn Bread. Overall my meal ran me about 30 bucks. It is hard to say which item from the meats were best for me. The chicken had me a bit worried because of the pink hue, but it was delicious. The meat was smokey and the chicken was still juicy. 4/5 The ribs were also great. They come with a dry rub, which on its own but with the different BBQ sauces, takes them to a whole new level. 4.5/5. Their brisket was also something special. It was so fatty, and decadent, and soft, with the delicious salt and pepper finish. Easy 5/5. They have 3 different sauces that are self serve as well. They have a traditional BBQ, a Korean BBQ fusion, and a mustard sauce. Each one is a 5/5. Now to the side dishes. By far the make and cheese and corn bread blew me away. Mac and cheese is the easiest side that most places just bomb at. There are maybe 3 resturants I have ever been too, that made a Mac and cheese worth eating, and this place is one. It was creamy, salty, they used good cheeses, and more importantly it wasn't that runny wet box crap. Their corn bread was special as well. It was moist and robust, it was almost a dessert in itself. And it's served with a whipped butter and honey. The only item I had that needed improvement was the beans. At least for me I like them a bit softer, mine were a bit more aldente then I would like, and the flavor overall was just okay for me. Saddly they were all out of their chicken wings and they only offer teramasu for dessert. They happened to be sold out of both though. The server and the chef were both great, friendly and accommodating. This location is a little on the small side so not great for large groups, but they do offer indoor and outdoor seating. All this came to $46 with tip. $46 for a tiny 7x11 tray of food? I know inflation is up but give me a break. Zoom in on my photo guys, look at what a pathetic portion size my brisket, which was an extra $3.50, is. I'm not sure if this place is under new ownership or new staff. They had a bunch of people in the kitchen but no one I recognized.. One guy was talking real loudly and he seemed pumped to be there but none of them were friendly or even checked in on us while we ate. The other guys we used to see when we came were so friendly and would always ask us how we were doing. And our portion sizes were bigger before. Got brisket, chopped brisket, and pulled chicken. The taste has gone down a bit, the chicken was a bit shady and had some unchewable parts. The sauce here is really the best but it's just not worth coming anymore just for the sauce. After looking through some photos from other yelp reviewers, I can definitely say the amount of brisket they gave is was a total scam. It's a lot of food, so plan on taking home leftovers. It's in a little strip mall with a Sgt. Pepperoni's, that comes in handy if you have a large party and need an alternative for the one person who doesn't feel like barbecue. The saucing is left to the diner, which we appreciate. They have several house-made sauce options including a standard barbecue sauce, Korean barbecue and mustard barbecue. The brisket is never too fatty and is so tender.
