Great al pastor tacos , family owned and everybody is so nice! Highly recommend if youre in the area. They got breakfast and lunch and dinner. Love to try different things here.

Stopped in here on my way to visit my Dad, and wow -- this little corner spot off Newport Blvd/55 delivered. Costa Mesa/N NB is a battlefield of restaurants, so standing out isn't easy... but these folks are hitting all cylinders. It's semi-hidden behind a big Verizon switch box in a tiny strip mall. classic underdog story. 1st Star: Service - driendly, welcoming, the kind of guy who makes you feel like you're a regular even when you're not. Huge win. 2nd Star: Menu Variety + Prices: Shockingly big menu for a small shop, and everything's priced like they actually want you to come back. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert -- it's all there. 3rd Star: Free Chips & Salsa (Yes, Even A La Carte): If heaven has a waiting room, they're serving chips and salsa. Automatic bonus points. 4th Star: Mexican Food "All Boxes Checked". Me = Beef Crispy Taco (VG) & Sope (Good) but they also have burritos, bowls, plates, enchiladas, chilaquiles -- classics plus some fun extras. Everything looked fresh, clean, and made with pride. 5th Star: Local Vibes: You can feel this is locally owned. And honestly, it felt good skipping the Jack in the Box across the street and supporting a spot where the owners are clearly putting their heart into it. Already planning my next round. The birria bowl was calling my name, and blackened seafood salad looked intriguing. I'm definitely coming back.

Really love this place. Everything I've had has been delicious and I love the salsa bar. Super friendly service as well

We are suckers for a good burrito. We don't want to be stuffed with potatoes and lettuce. This place did not disappoint. They packed our burritos with all the goods, meat, sauces, they were delish. Nothing was overcooked, was warm and not cold, great spot.

Quick, clean, convenient, and delicious! Stopped in and tried a burrito - the tortilla was so light and fresh, it was packed with fresh ingredients and was large enough to share. They offer complimentary chips, and a delicious salsa bar with several different options. Prices are reasonable and their staff was super friendly. The parking lot is a little small, but we didn't have a problem getting a spot. Stop in and try them for yourself!

Solid place for reasonably priced Mexican food! Tacos are $3.50 ($4.50 shrimp) and most burritos are under $10. I got a taco combo plate ($10.25) with two tacos, rice and beans. I chose blackened fish and chicken soft tacos, which are topped with onions and cilantro. These tacos were loaded, the tortillas barely able to contain all of the ingredients. My husband got the blackened fish burrito ($11). It was big, but had a lot of rice and beans. They have a salsa bar that you can help yourself to. La Laguna Mex Grill is very close to the OC Fair and would make a great dining alternative to the overpriced fair food.

Was on the hunt for a California Burrito and I found this restaurant on my Yelp feed. Yay yelp!! Had the opportunity to stop by today and it's a cute spot! The burritos are reasonably priced and you self serve your sauces and drinks. There is no drive through. My burrito was tightly wrapped and full. It was lacking sour cream (California burrito), but it tasted delicious still. Service was friendly and I'd definitely come back to try their other options.

La Laguna has replaced El Mesquitito Grill. But don't fret--the food is still delicious! To be honest, the food tasted exactly the same to me (which is a good thing) I tried a Quesabirria, Carne Asada Nachos, and the Super California Burrito. We typically order the food ahead on the phone and it's usually ready in about 15 minutes or less. The salsas tasted exactly the way I remember El Mesquititios tasting. Pretty good! The Quesabirria and Nachos were good. Nothing too special, but still tasty. The most delicious item was DEFINITELY the Super California Burrito. A stomach bomb but still so delicious. Would definitely order that again!

Breakfast burritos are worth the price and is very tasty! They have a morning breakfast burrito special from 9am-11am that is $7, but not including the Laguna Burrito option. Chips were free and the sauces are pretty good with a kick! Service is welcoming and the interior is small, but has enough seatings for a few parties of 1-4 people.

The food was excellent. We had the protein omelette and the breakfast burrito. The protein omelette was strong, and the Jurassic pork (sweet and savory seasoned bacon) stole the show there. Toast and fruit was well made and fresh. The burrito was where things went to the next level. Steak AND bacon in a burrito in this economy? Unbelievable. It was so rich and heavy I almost couldn't finish it. They didn't overcompensate for a lack of meat and eggs with a bunch of potatoes. The whole burrito was well balanced in that respect. The beans were excellent, and the cherry on top was the fresh made red chile salsa. It tied the whole experience together perfectly. Finally, the coffee was excellent as well, the only caveat being that we actually got our food before our coffee (only one barista was behind the bar and she was pretty backed up). Wonderful brunch experience, I will be back.

The real standout for me was the Café de Olla. I must have had three cups during breakfast and still ordered one to go. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. The only thing keeping this from five stars was the logistics. The parking lot is tiny, with room for maybe eight cars and not much nearby as an alternative. We also waited about an hour and were told they don't take reservations. The waiting area itself is pretty limited, which made the long wait a little tougher. I'd still strongly recommend Breakfast Republic because the food was excellent. Just make sure you have some time to spare, and I probably wouldn't attempt it with a large party during a busy time.

The wait to sit wasn't too long. If you were interested, they do to-go orders too. For breakfast, I got the eggs and meat order with overeasy eggs and sausage. We added berries for an extra $6 (without berries, it's $20), and it was worth it. This breakfast dish was tasty and comforting yet not heavy, and the berries provided refreshing flavors and textures. Hangover Burger: 2/5. Disappointing. I feel like for being called a "hangover" burger, it should've been very satisfying and had more of...well, everything XD The size of the burger and the portion of fries were both small, and the burger patty seemed dry and unseasoned. It could have used a sauce, some seasoning, a different cheese, or a juicy patty. The fries were yummy, but again, I just wished I got more for being part of the hefty $26 price tag. Despite our entrees being a little lackluster, the atmosphere is nice for a group brunch, and the interior is cool and trendy. Service was ok - a little slow, hard to flag down, and not as welcoming as I thought they'd be for a popular brunch restaurant. Parking in the small lot is tricky as it can fill up quickly during the day. Luckily we got there right when Plums Cafe opened at 8am, so there were lots of available spots.

Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, they are open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day for breakfast and lunch. We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. The menu offers plenty of tasty options. It was tough to decide. I ordered the Crab Benny and had my eggs soft-poached, as requested, and they were perfectly runny. The croissant was a nice change from the usual English muffin. The herb-seasoned wedge fries were also great and crispy. The Brown Butter Hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful. My family also enjoyed the tomato bagel and the kids' pancake. They cleaned their plate in no time. The portions were good for the price and quality. Our morning hunger was satisfied. If you are inclined to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, the menu offers some great options like brunch cocktails, mimosas, wine, and more. I'll have to try one of their house cocktails sometime. I opted to get a refreshing cold brew this time. Upon entering the dining area, I was struck by its bright, modern look and local vibes.
