I'm very surprised with the low ratings from some reviewers for this place. I've tried it a few times already and feel their pad thai and pad see ew are both pretty good considering the price and speed of service. Both are generously portioned with a good balance of sweet and savoury (with the pad see ew leaning a bit more sweet). The only thing that's not quite perfect would be the use of thin noodles for the pad see ew, generally I have had this dish done with wide, flat rice noodles. If there were an option to upgrade/switch to flat noodles this dish would be pretty on point, as it's pretty tasty otherwise with a generous helping of well seasoned veggies.

We stopped by for lunch over the weekend. The set up is like a cafeteria. You place an order at the front and then seat yourself. Service was fast and friendly. One of the cooks dropped off complementary chips for the kids. The food is not the most authentic. I ordered laksa and it was only one type of noodles instead of the usual two. You can also customize the protein and I picked beef. The broth was aromatic and you can also customize how spicy you want the food to be. There was a generous amount of noodles and decent amount of toppings. The deep fried gyoza were some of the better ones I have had in recent memory. It was crispy and had a good crunch. The chicken satay skewers were a total miss. There were no grill marks and felt like boiled chicken on a stick. The dipping sauce did not help make the chicken taste any better. I would skip that item next time. Overall, I was happy with my meal. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Service was fast. COVID precautions were in place. Staff wore face mask. Hand sanitizer was available. Price was good for the portion size.

This nice little place popped up in the Highgate area. It is a chain that has locations on Robson and also North Van. The concept is simple you choose a variety of Asian dishes (with either rice or noodles) such as Pad Thai or Mongolian beef. The dishes are inexpensive and we're very delicious. The server was also very nice and pleasant. We will be back!

    What I.

Fist time was satisfactory but 2nd and 3rd was embarrassing and disappointing. 2nd time, I took my guests over praising about it but they were unhappy. Chicken pieces was in a big clump in the noodles. Seemed the cook didn't even bother. The beef was very dry and chewy. Decided to give it another chance so ordered a 3rd time. I got green onions I specifically said no to. Chicken and prawn were burnt. Portion size were small It's odd but the more protein you want, the more they charge to discourage you from buying. Eg: 1st protein is $1 and up but extra protein after the first one will cost double. So 2 bad experiences out of 3. Not gonna go again!

I took a bite in my food to find this hard plastic lid piece in my food. Very disappointed as they need to be more careful.

This is my first time trying Haidilao, I was so impressed with the service. Food was fresh, we opted for unlimited meat, we had beef & lamb slices. There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Trying to reorder meat on their iPad was a bit challenging, there's too many options. We had Elvis helping us with the reordering. You are offered ice cream at the end of your meal too. Decor was cute, clean & inviting Fresh food, great service, paid parking in the mall parking.

The guy in front of me, Deng, looked at me with such envy as he cut in line. This place is incredibly popular! Every time I pass by, there's a long queue. Even on rainy days, people are willing to get soaked in the rain just to have a bowl of hot tonkotsu ramen. While you're queuing, the staff will hand out menus. The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

This time, still a line, but it went faster. This is definitely not a sit down and enjoy your meal w anyone. Order your food from a slip of paper you're given so that by the time you sit, they collect it and place the order. Seats are hard and it is devised where you and then leave. I had the goma vegetarian and my brother the tonkatsu. We both had thicker noodles. However, one could not tell. The vegetarian was loaded with sesame seeds. Now i love those seeds but it was way too much for my liking. Too much seeds to chew on. They also do not put any vegetables on like Hawaii does. Everything is ala carte and that adds up. I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I will say, Hawaii has by far better ramen, but this place was ok too. Pricey for for what you get though.
