Haidilao Hot Pot Brentwood - 海底捞火锅 - Burnaby…read more Located at 2nd Floor of Brentwood Mall near their food court. We tried Bite of Burnaby at Haidilao. This is my first time trying Haidilao, I was so impressed with the service. Food was fresh, we opted for unlimited meat, we had beef & lamb slices. There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Trying to reorder meat on their iPad was a bit challenging, there's too many options. We had Elvis helping us with the reordering. You are offered ice cream at the end of your meal too. Decor was cute, clean & inviting Fresh food, great service, paid parking in the mall parking.

The staff checks in on you and just basically gives you what you need, before you even ask for it. And I like how the place is set up, so cozy and provides just the right amount of privacy for groups. Even the washrooms are superb. Wait may be a bit long if you don't have a reservation (we made a reservation but came 30 minutes early and wanted to get in earlier), but they offer free snacks and drinks at the waiting area.

After that, we ordered from them again many, many times through the Fantuan app. The menu is simple. Basically rice and noodles, just as the name of the shop implies. They cook their food soooo well though! There's a deep "wok hei" flavor to their rice and noodles. They do also have a few other side dishes like gyoza and spring rolls which you can order, but basically we go to this place for the rice and noodles. This was the first time we actually dined in the restaurant instead of getting takeout. Highly recommend dining in! So good to eat the food fresh and hot. It's a great place to stop for a quicky, filling and tasty meal. You choose your base, then your protein, and then your level of spice. Pay at the counter, then sit down and they will bring the food out to you when it's ready. In our group we ordered some gyoza, chow mein, pad thai noodles and pad see ew noodles. I must have been hungrier than I realized, or else the food just tasted soooo good that I ended up eating my entire plate of noodles, when I really only needed about half the plate. This place is a "must try"!.

The guy in front of me, Deng, looked at me with such envy as he cut in line. This place is incredibly popular! Every time I pass by, there's a long queue. Even on rainy days, people are willing to get soaked in the rain just to have a bowl of hot tonkotsu ramen. While you're queuing, the staff will hand out menus. The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

This time, still a line, but it went faster. This is definitely not a sit down and enjoy your meal w anyone. Order your food from a slip of paper you're given so that by the time you sit, they collect it and place the order. Seats are hard and it is devised where you and then leave. I had the goma vegetarian and my brother the tonkatsu. We both had thicker noodles. However, one could not tell. The vegetarian was loaded with sesame seeds. Now i love those seeds but it was way too much for my liking. Too much seeds to chew on. They also do not put any vegetables on like Hawaii does. Everything is ala carte and that adds up. I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I will say, Hawaii has by far better ramen, but this place was ok too. Pricey for for what you get though.
