This was the last Chinese restaurant I had not tried in the area! I guess you save the worst for last?! The owner is super nice, friendly as can be. There's probably 8-10 tables inside so it is descent size. I was dissatisfied with my Beef with Broccoli. Typically it is fried with oyster sauce as the main ingredient, I just felt like my beef was simmered because there was too much sauce and it lacked the fried taste. I was surprised it also had carrots and chestnuts in this dish. Overall the potential was there, the sauce was good though. My fried rice was ok, the portion is humongous but it does lack flavor and has an orangey color to it. This place also has seafood, so that is a pleasant surprise. With so many Chinese restaurants in the area, I'd like to come back and try the seafood someday.

Always smiling employees and good food to add to the happiness. I recommend the dumplings but not the crab rangoon (too much outer shell).

Clam strips, sesame chicken, and crab rangoon in the bag.

The salsa is fresh and flavorful and the beans were delicious with fresh cheese on top. We had two rounds and were full before the food came! We ordered margaritas next, one jalapeno and one skinny. They are made with reposado, giving them a smoky, deep flavor. Delicious, spicy, sweet. We ordered the seafood tower to share, wanting to try something new. The seafood was fresh and well-prepared. Obviously we were so full of chips we couldn't finish it, but the leftovers will be enjoyed I'm sure. I wish we'd saved room for dessert, as those options looked phenomenal. Next time! Great service, great value. We will be back!

My son-in-law did enjoy his chicken enchiladas and it was a huge serving. The chips, salsa and beans with cheese they brought to the table, complimentary were good. Service was just OK. It took about 30 minutes to get our food once we ordered, we had to ask for more water a couple of times. The restaurant is a clean, bright and has a welcoming atmosphere with outdoor and indoor seating. Plenty of parking. Best part of my experience was the virgin Pina colada I had to go. It was served with whipped cream and cherries in a little bucket. It was pretty tasty.

However, the older man at the cash register (perhaps the…read moreowner?) overcharged me for everything, and when I pointed it out to him (at first I thought it must be an accident), he threw dollar bills at me while hollering that he knows how to run a restaurant. Well, maybe that's true because most restaurants fail and this one has been around for a while, but maybe it's because they're overcharging their customers instead of increasing their prices on the menu, and hoping the customers don't notice. I've never been so nickeled and dimed at a restaurant! I was so insulted that I handed his few dollar bills back to him and said I just wanted him to be transparent about what he was going to charge me, before he charged me! I asked for a Tilapia sandwich (menu price $8.95) and a Haddock sandwich combo (menu price $13.95 for the sandwich + cole slaw + fries). I asked if the sandwich came with anything on it, and he said no, but he could add pickle slices. He didn't tell me about an upcharge. I asked if I could substitute the fries in the combo for fried mushrooms. He said yes, but there would be a slight difference in price. I said that would be fine because the side items showed it was only a $0.45 difference in price (on the menu, french fries are $3.50 and fried mushrooms are $3.95). I asked if I could pay with credit card, and he said yes, but didn't mention a card fee. What I thought I would be charged: $8.95 + $13.95 + $0.45 = $23.35 + 6% tax = $24.71 total. Instead I was charged $30. When I asked him about it he said there was a $1 credit card fee that he had neglected to tell me about prior, and that instead of charging me for the difference between the price of the fries and mushrooms, he rang each item up separately instead of ringing it up as a combo (first of all, why would he do that??? and second of all, why wouldn't he tell me he was going to do that???). Then he told me he also charged me for the 5 skinny quarter-sized slices of bright green pickles you get from the jar. When I said, "you charged me for pickles?" He said, "of course I charged you for pickles!" So he charged me $8.95 tilapia sandwich + $9.95 haddock sandwich + $2.50 cole slaw + $3.95 mushrooms + $2.00 pickles (TWO DOLLARS FOR 5 SKINNY QUARTER SIZED PICKLE SLICES) + 6% tax + $1 credit card fee = $29.99 (AND OF COURSE HE DIDN'T GIVE ME THE PENNY NOR ASK IF I WANTED TO KEEP THE PENNY; HE KEPT THE PENNY FOR HIMSELF AND CHARGED ME THIRTY WHOLE DOLLARS FOR A $24.71 MEAL).Which isn't a big difference, but in this economy, adds up, and the LEAST they can do is be TRANSPARENT ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE GONNA CHARGE YOU. AND THEN WHEN YOU NOTICE THE DISCREPANCY AND KINDLY & CALMLY ASK IF THEY MADE A MISTAKE, THEY SHOULDN'T GET DEFENSIVE, RAISE THEIR VOICE AT YOU, AND THROW DOLLARS AT YOU IN FRONT OF A LINE OF CUSTOMERS. This was my first time here and I was excited to go back and try everything else. Instead, I'm never going back and I'm telling everyone I know.

Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

The use of peanut oil for frying is always appreciated and the oil was definitely clean! Now let's talk about the things that need to be improved. The onion rings, though they may have been made in house definitely tasted as though they came off the back of the Sysco truck. No shame on Sysco products they have high-end things. However, at that price point, I would expect something a little bit more. The onion rings also had a little bit of fry detritus from whatever else had been in the fryer previously. I think it added flavor and I was very happy with it. However, again, I wouldn't call them stellar. We ordered the shrimp and the fried fish. The fried fish was as expected. It was a little bit damp where it seemed as though maybe it had too much moisture in it but again, I feel like it came from a bag so I don't think I could hold that against them. The fries themselves were abysmal. The flavoring was good, and I appreciate that part of it, but the fries themselves were rubbery. Either they had been sitting out too long or they had been just poorly cooked. They weren't greasy, but they weren't crisp. They were served underneath the main dish and I don't think that helped. The shrimp was supposed to be some kind of Key West thing, but it really looked like popcorn shrimp that had a light breading and then thrown into the fryer. Not great. I mean it was passible. But legit I think you could probably get that at any fast food place and it would be just as good if not better. My dear sweet wife said Moby Dick would've been lots better. And I agree. And I'm not totally fond of their stuff, but this place wasn't very good at all. For a mid $20 plate you got a good size piece of fish some subpar fries and that's it. It's not worth it. I mean, I know it's not fish fry season so my options are limited, but seriously there are plenty of other places that do this a lot better. Molly Malone's comes to mind. So I wasn't gonna write a review. I don't feel that I need to add my negativity out into the world, but this is to save you. I am doing this for you. Those hush puppies were a curse. I'm not sure who decided that this was the one thing that they needed to put some effort into, but they need to stop. Why not just run like everything else on the menu and pull it out of a bag and drop it into the fryer? It would've been better. I'm happy that somebody is expressing themselves, but maybe watercolors? So when they asked how it was and I need to let you know that it was a long time for them to get to my table. OK they were in a rush. I can give them a little bit of grace on that but when they finally came to ask how it was. I told him the hush puppies were raw on the inside because, they were raw on the inside. They brought me out another order. These were burnt on the outside. So I told them that maybe they need to cut them in half and then drop that half a ball of batter into the fryer so that way they could get a balance of having the outside brown and crisp and the inside light and fluffy. It was at this point they told me there's cream cheese in the batter. This is not an excuse. This is somebody trying to be fancy. You're not fancy. You have a paper placemat on the table underneath this damp fish. No. Stop. Feel free to be creative with your hush puppies. But a hush puppy is traditionally a cornmeal batter. There was less cornmeal in that and more sadness. I should probably mention the service. It's Friday night, I'm a teacher, it's been a long year and the year is almost over. I was planning on having three beers. I had one. It was a nine dollar 10 ounce pour. I was not going to get up from that chair and I would've gladly have paid another $18 for two more beers but nobody ever asked if I wanted one. So I didn't have it. I just groused about the hush puppies. I'm not saying the additional beer would've made the hush puppies better, but I definitely would've forgotten to write this review. I will say again, that sitting outside was lovely and so was watching the people at Houck's get plenty of beer.
