Been here a few times now before the move. Second time here after the move. Bigger than the last location, a lot more room. Everyone here is pretty consistent with their service. We always get the Chris Fried Rice. The Lo Mein is pretty good too. This place is basically fast food Chinese. If you're looking for something more authentic this might not be your thing. Rice Box does the job for a quick meal with decent prices. They give plenty of food and it's pretty tasty for the concept. They do have the best fried cream cheese wontons. The egg rolls and fried dumplings are very tasty. In a nutshell it's pretty good fast food. Haven't had any bad experiences here. Service is okay, kind of like everywhere else. The food was ok. Well, what happened was.... This was our first visit so we really didn't know what to order. I ordered the king pao chicken and plain fried rice and my daughter ordered the orange chicken. It was ok. Have had better but wasn't horrible. The fried wontons were EXCELLENT!!!! We will give this place another try because after we ordered our food, the amazing waitress that took our order, brought us out a decent size sample of the Chris fried rice.... It was delicious!!! I been debating on this place for a while. I finally came and honestly I wasn't too impressed. The food lacked flavor and it felt a little one the salty side. We ordered some dumplings for my son who's obsessed with them and he didn't even bother with them. I ordered the chicken lo mein and it was ok but a little on the salty side. My husband ordered the general chicken with fried rice and it wasn't good. That's the one that lacked flavor. Service was fast, probably because it was dead (Saturday at 1:30 pm). Yall, those fried cream cheese wontons are the bomb! I order chicken lomein, medium heat and my husband got the beef and chicken lomein. It was just the right heat and had lots of flavor. We also ordered 4 egg rolls which were very greasy but pretty good. We took our food to go. We just happend upon Rice Box and we were not disappointed. Terrible. Never coming back. Over $18.00 for a single vegetarian dish and a soda. Worst value in town. And the name is accurate. My dish was 95% rice, a tiny bit of tofu and a scattering of tiny diced vegetables. And bland as can be. Also- the place was completely empty but my dish took seven minutes to prepare. Tried this place for the first time on an early Saturday as they were just opening for the day around 11:30-noon ish. Dining area was clean. Plenty of staff upfront (4) rolling silverware etc. Not busy (only 1 other customer) so I was able to order right away. I ordered 2 orders (2 per order) of spring rolls and the orange chicken which comes with either steamed rice or fried rice. I opted for fried. Spring rolls were great, hot and fresh and tasty. The orange chicken was not the best. The fried rice might as well just been regular rice....no flavor, no veggies, nothing to suggest it was fried at so based on the texture. It was clearly leftover. Lots of hard overcooked or old rice. The chicken was fried hard and slightly tough. The sauce completely drowned the chicken instead of coating it and it was a very dark brown and looked almost scorched. If I return, it'll only be for the spring rolls. read more

Business states delivery is available but only after a certain time and only if they have enough employees! Used Uber eats to get my sweet and sour chicken (40 minutes, priority fee paid) the chicken was wrapped in paper inside the container so, condensation created about a tablespoon of water! The chicken was cold and chewy and the size of scraps! The rice cold but good consistency. The wrapped fortune cookie was the best part of this meal. My compliments to the cookie maker. Maybe this place should only have dine in, it may be better but, doubtful. Owner should look at the way the business is run on a day to day. Maybe fire everyone and find employees who care. First off I want to say I understand that businesses are short staffed so I'm not the one to get frustrated easily. I called in my order and they told me 30 minutes. I go pick up my wife's carry out order from Hibachio and then proceed to get my order from Rice Box. The 30 minutes was up and I waited 40 more minutes and my order still wasn't ready. I asked for a refund ( which they did) but the manager never apologized or anything. They ruined my wife's dinner and mines! Poor customer service! read more

I originally gave Rice Box 5 stars... but after my last 3 orders, I have to change my rating. The food is pretty good and the staff is friendly... but I DO NOT recommend placing an order for pickup or delivery. The last 3 times I placed an order over the phone, it has taken over an hour longer than my quoted time. The last time I placed an order for delivery, I was quoted 45-55 minutes. After 2 hours of waiting, I received a call from my delivery driver saying that my food was ALMOST ready and would be delivered soon. 2 HOURS! I cannot say that I will be ordering food from here again. 2 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for food to be ALMOST ready, especially after being quoted only 45 minutes. Also very frustrating that I only see Rice Box responding to 5 star ratings (on Google). Seems like they don't care to make things right with customers that have had bad experiences. read more

We have frequented the Italy location (being remodeled) and their shrimp egg roll and egg drop soup were the best versions i've ever tasted in my life, truly works of art. Yesterday we had the same foods at the Waxahachie location for the first time and it was horrific. I have uploaded a photo of the 2 mini shrimp that was all that was in the egg roll aside from cabbage, these were definitely not even fresh shrimp, they were dried and rehydrated. This is a level of extremely low quality food I have never experienced. I would not eat this food even if it was free, honestly. The szechuan beef was basically all cabbage and gross sweet sauce, hardly any meat and the meat that was there was tiny pieces of super overcooked garbage. read more

There was a worker vacuuming and rolling up the rugs 40 minutes before closing time with several parties still dining in. Then, they proceeded to bag up orders without washing their hands. None of the workers had any sense of urgency; they were so slow. My order ended up being bagged and set on the pick up shelf without my name being called. How are customers supposed to know their order is ready? It sat for at least 5 minutes when the same worker who vacuumed, didn't wash their hands, and bagged up my food asked for the name on my order with the bag in his hand. There didn't seem to be a manager on shift. As I was waiting I noticed they have a quarter candy machine. Inside was regular m&ms AND peanut m&m's. It is clear that management is careless here. The only redeeming quality is that the portion of food I received was enough to be 3 meals for me. Hibachio is better. Go there for your fried rice fix. read more

I've had a couple different dishes here now, but the Chris rice is my favorite. Tiny, definitely "basic" dining area, but cozy, quiet, kitchen is semi visible, I love it. Super polite staff, and the owner (I assume) has been onsite every time I've gone. UPDATE: wrote my review before reading the others. Lots of complaints on the staff. My family and I tried Rice Box Express for lunch on a Saturday. We had received a flyer in the mail and had been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in town and decided to give them a try. We pulled up and found that they share a building and parking lot with a muffler shop. Parking was limited, but we were able to find a spot with little trouble. When we walked in, we were greeted immediately by two friendly workers. We approached the counter and told the gentleman that we had never been here before and asked what he recommended. Without hesitation, he recommended the Chris Fried Rice. It is their fried rice with beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp as well as various vegetables. We were given a choice of mild, medium, or hot spice. My husband and I went with medium while our daughter went with mild. When it was brought out to us, they also brought us some extra of the spice sauce that they used. I thought it was prefect as it was but my husband did elect to add in a little extra. I liked that touch as, since we were new to the establishment, we didn't know how spicy their food might have been. We also got the dumplings and a hot and sour soup as an appetizer. Both were served piping hot and there were no complaints for either dish. The dumplings were served with a side of sauce and the soup came with some crispies. We ended up taking most of the rice and half of the soup home not because it wasn't good but because the portions were so large that none of us were able to finish our meal. While we were dining, two other employees stopped by our table to see if the food was to our liking. If it was a busy time, it might be difficult to find a place to park, but they deliver to all of Waxahachie. If you are concerned about finding a parking spot, delivery is always an option. My family had no complaints regarding the food or the service and will certainly be returning. read more

Horrible experience! I place an order before 7 o'clock and was told it would be about 75-85 minutes, but probably sooner. At 9 o'clock I called the store to check in on my order. The guy said all to go orders had been sent out and that it should be there soon. No apology at all. About 10 minutes later the delivery guy did show up. At least he apologized for the wait. When I finally received my order over two hours later, the chicken was way over cooked, the wontons were burnt and everything was beyond cold. The sauce was solidified and disgusting. Rice Box is really awesome at a few critical things. Their fried rice and their low mein are phenomenal and a great bargain for the quantity of food you get. The delivery service comes in clutch and as long as you don't stray far from your trusty fried rice and trusty low mein, you will never be disappointed. As a young college kid ballin on a budget this place is my best friend. One time though, I tried to walk in at 12:30 on a Friday and an employee told me they were closing and the restaurant was full of people and the hours said they were open til 9:00. That made me sad and mad so that is the only reason for the four stars. Everything else about my experience here is worth five. read more
