I'm here in Waterloo for work and I've been going here four days in a row so far. The chicken and beef is super tender. Highly recommend the curry chicken. It is not like Japanese or Thai curry. It has a Singaporean curry taste. Mongolian beef and pepper beef is super tender and good. Chicken teriyaki is good as well. I've gone here before and haven't had any problems, and absolutely loved it. Tonight though the chicken had a super weird taste and texture, so I just ate the broccoli out of my meal. We aren't very picky when it comes to Chinese food and like most of it well. But, this place was disgusting. All 6 of us hated everything we got. I'm not being sarcastic when I say that everything we had tasted like what canned dog food smells like. We got the bourbon chicken, teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken and chicken/broccoli. The only thing that tasted good was the white rice. The fried rice had rubbery carrots/peas. The most disgusting thing of all were the egg rolls. We literally had to spit it back out in our napkins. I enjoyed the food I ordered through DoorDash. We had Chicken egg Foo young, Sweet and sour pork, fried pork dumpling, chicken fried rice and white rice. I appreciate that they are not stingy with their ingredients which makes the food flavorful. The serving sizes are generous for the price. I especially love the steamed white rice, it's not the cheap kind- maybe jasmine and cooked perfectly. Which is very rare to find these days, some asian restaurants just want to shortcut on ingredients and quality. They know how to cook and not stingy that's for sure. Nothing we ate was good. Even the fried rice was average in taste and hard in texture. It tasted like low end buffet food but for $50. (1 adult,2 children) The woman at the counter stopped us as we were leaving and told me I owed for 2 small drinks. I inquired because all 3 in my party only got water. Working my way through the menu. So far so good. To date I have had 8 to 10 different dishes. They were all prepared well, had plenty of protein, and cooked to perfection. Glad to have an acceptable to better than most Chinese food joint closer to work. The shop is clean, that staff is courteous, and the food is good. This is a great place to go with a co-worker for a quick sit-down bite and bitch session about other co-workers, the boss, the job, the wife, the kids, life in general, etc (just not the dog - dogs are always great). Yes! A conveniently located non-chain Chinese restaurant! And it's a winner in my book. Several of my co-workers have eaten here or ordered for delivery in the past week and I heard great things. I ordered on their website. It was simple to use and they had more options than on their menu. I could order for it to be ready at a later pick up time. I was surprised by the cute and modern decor inside. There was a lighted water feature and coy fish decor. It was bright and colorful. There was more seating inside than I thought. I was just picking up and it was really busy on a Saturday night so I didn't take any photos inside. The food was a win! Everything was very good. I loved the Mongolian beef. It was very flavorful and cooked tender. The sweet and sour chicken was great. A light batter and the chicken was quality with no grisly bits. My daughter loved her sesame chicken. The crab Rangoon was good too. The only downside was we ordered egg drop soup with two enters and we got egg rolls instead. Easy mistake and we got over it. The dinner entrees were so big we had leftovers. I ordered the special combos. Those come with fried rice, a Rangoon/egg roll or soft drink. For 4 dinners it was $37. I could have easily fed my family of 4 on just 3 dinners the portions were so large. The lady at the counter was very friendly too. For as busy as the place was they were on top of things. I have never seen green egg drop soup and a more greasier egg roll.. The soup tasted ok, the shrimp has whole shrimp in it but tasted of oil.. I ordered fried rice and lake ting ting shrimp.. the fried rice tasted more of stale oil than of rice.. it was in editable. The shrimp is very mild and has no character. Went here for dinner with a coworker tonight. Orange chicken was microwaved or double fried - very tough to cut and extremely chewy. Terrible. Mongolian Chicken was almost entirely all onions. I used to go the rice house a few times a month but recently my experience has been so bad, I will never go there again . The rice taste burnt on many occasions and the last visit I finally said something to the "waitress" and she fixed us more rice and told us it was he same rice - so yeah it still taste burnt. She was visibly agitated when we told her and she was talking to he cook in her native language and then he come out to look at us . They have lost my business and I will never go back in there again - so unless you like burnt tasting rice and horrible service I would not recommend this place . I usually order from another place called east China. Their food is mediocre at best, usually takes more than an hour to deliver and is usually almost cold. So when a new Chinese restaurant that delivers opens up I try it. The rice house Is pretty good! The crab rangoons are crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle. The Tso's chicken was great and they even had great French fries. Who knew? The best part? They delivered fast, like 30 minutes. And the food was almost too hot to eat when it arrived. If your going to order in for Chinese this is really the only place in town that's worth it. read more

This place doesn't want business apparently. I walked in and stood at the counter. Two people washing dishes in the back saw me standing and waiting but never came out, yelled out to me that someone would be with me shortly or called for anyone working there to assist me. Nothing. I stood there for 15 mInutes waiting for anyone to come greet me but to no avail. There wasn't a single customer in the entire place so I'm not sure what the wait staff was so busy doing that they didn't need a customer but hopefully they'll be out of business soon and have all the time in the world to do whatever was more important than customer service. If they can't handle one customer at 2:30 in the afternoon how will they be during the busy dinner hour when they may get a few? read more
