This has to be one of greatest places I've ever been to. Let me explain. As a foodie on vacation, I like to go all over and never go to the same place twice (why would I with limited time?). The food here blew me away, and I ended up eating here twice during our 3 day stay. The atmosphere is great. It's beautiful yet calming. All of the staff are warm and treat you like family. Our servers on both days made great recommendations. Food comes out fresh and hot Thai iced tea - the best Thai tea I've ever had!!!!! Thai lime iced tea - a refreshing Thai tea without the condensed milk. Bold and bright Khao soi- THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE REASON I CAME BACK! On the first day, my husband ordered this and I had a little. It was like fireworks in my soul. After we left, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I had to come back and get it for myself. This dish is pure magic. It's perfect with duck or crispy chicken (chicken katsu) . 100000% recommend! Butter toast with icecream - best brick toast ever. Other places give you toast with toppings. This toast is soaked and then toasted, giving you flavor in every bite Hands down the best food in Tahoe, and the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to!!!

Dinner was fantastic. The place is super busy but a table opened up pretty quickly. The food and servers were excellent. The place is nice, modern and casual.

$20 an entree and was very disappointed with the portion sizes. Small containers to begin with and they send them out half full. The only box they filled was the fried rice. For $20 each, I expected much more substantial entrées. I contacted the restaurant to express my concern, but all I received was an apology and no attempt to make it right. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from here again. Go to Orchids by the Y if you want to get full.

Absolutely, the most delicious Thai food I've experienced in my life - hands down... perfection! The Crab Rangoons, so delicate & flaky on the outside with fresh creamy heaven on the inside! The Chicken Satay The chicken satay is very flavorful, moist on the inside with crispy perfection on the outside! Ginger Thai Chicken & Rice (Khao Man Gai) dish w/ rice & delicate chicken soup with fried garlic... perfect to dip into!!! I have found my Thai Heavenly location to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe in Rice Thai Eatery!

Date: Monday, February 2nd, 2026 Party of: 2 Meal: Lunch Takeaway Time Ordered: around 1pm Picked Up: about 30 mins later T3 Tum Puu Pla Rah - Spicy Level 5, Special Instructions: no peanuts ($19.95) TS7 Ka-Prao (Spicy Basil) (with White Rice and Sunny-Side Up on Top) - Ground Chicken, Spicy Level 5 ($20.95) TS9 Green Curry - Chicken, Spicy Level 5 ($16.95) *Premium Jasmine Rice ($3) *Brown rice ($3) *Tax ($5.59) I adore Thai food. Especially super spicy Thai food. I love the contrast of fishy, sour, spice, etc. I thought I had tried all the Thai spots in Tahoe already, but I found Rice Thai on a random food search. We ordered thru their website for takeout. Overall I found everything lacking in heat for their highest spice level. Otherwise, the papaya salad was fine. I did miss the strong flavors I love about this dish. Even tho the green curry had added chilis, I wanted more heat. It was creamy versus being thinner and oily. I like both versions, so I enjoyed this. The hubby didn't know his ground chicken was a lunch plate, so we ordered a side of rice. Fine since he's a rice monster. The more the merrier for him. Fine for more muted versions of the dishes I love. If I ever order from here again, will definitely try and note Thai spicy to get that heat. REVIEW #3979

Absolutely amazing dining experiences, would love to come back again. Grilled prawns were tasty and grilled to perfection, stir fry really showed master chef skills Cute place for photos as well!

Ka-Prao (Basil) with 2 pcs of spring rolls and egg drop soup lunch special.

The food is terrific. My wife had the Pad See U with beef and I had the Ka-Prao with chicken. Both were excellent. This is subjective but I will say that they seem to run on the spicy side. They'll ask you 0-5. I said 3. It had me sweating a little and blowing my nose. So next time I will probably play it more conservative and say 2.

    BS3 - beef noodle soup

Nice ambiance, friendly staff, expansive menu, not-so-quick wait times during peak dining hours. We waited 1.5 hours for a party of 8 on a Saturday night, and up to an additional 1 hour for our food to arrive. That being said, when it did arrive, the food was solid (though I'm unsure if my judgment was swayed by the amount of time that elapsed and my likewise growing hunger levels). Each dish was around $18-$20 (moderately priced compared to the Bay Area) and had decent portions. The pad kee mao (level 1 spicy) was decently flavored and had a variety of topics. You can choose to go up to level 5 in terms of spiciness levels, and add additional chilis with provided extra spice on the table. The beef noodle soup was the dish that took the longest by far. The beef was soft and tender, the soup was plentiful flavorful, thought I'm not sure this dish was anything really special.

Wait was around 30-45 minutes on a Saturday night. Service was relatively fast. I got the khao soi dish with beef. The beef was really tender and I liked the pickled veggie side dish. There was a very decent serving of noodles in the soup. However, the soup itself was pretty salty, and I didn't really like the crispy fried noodles on the side (it came in a big bird nest shape which made it pretty hard to eat because it can't be sprinkled on top of the soup, and it got really soggy by the time I could untangle pieces for bites).

A solid option for Thai food. I went with a group of 7 on a Friday in mid May and since it wasn't peak season, we were able to get a table fairly easily. I shared fresh rolls with some people and got the khao soi with crispy chicken spice level 3. The fresh rolls were pretty standard and a good vegetarian option. While the khao soi was tasty, it didn't really pack much heat. I also wish they served the crispy chicken on the side so it wouldn't get soggy.

We found Rice Thai Eatery to be a great experience. It has a very welcoming feel from the decor to the hospitable staff. We needed something light as we planned a nice meal that evening and weren't disappointed with our choices. Plenty of seating along with ample tables outside and a separate beer and wine bar too. The setting which included goldware (not silver utensils) helped setup a classy feel. Take a look at the picture and you'll see why this establishment got a five star rating.

We ordered many different dishes, and every single one was delicious. The flavors were very authentic and tasted close to the original Thai food in Thailand. The Thai boat noodle was absolutely amazing, definitely a must try. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was cute and cozy, and everything was very clean. The food was also served very quickly. One of the most outstanding restaurants to experience when visiting here. Highly recommended.

Thai food is my favorite cuisine and Rice Thai Eatery did not disappoint my expectations. Their Khao soi is a 9 out of 10 and it was the perfect dish fresh from a morning of tubing with the family. Their Khao appetizers are also as good. All I can say is that the food was flavorful. It was satisfying and the service was very hospitable. 10 out of 10!

They have a parking lot at back which is convenient. They seated us the moment we walked in around 1pm. We ordered and within 10 minutes, our order came pretty quickly. We ordered Pho Ga (chicken) and I thought it was decent. The soup tasted okay and I don't think it was anything special. The noodles were good. Overall service was good and food was decent.

Our next option was to check Yelp and this place looked promising. It was just about a couple of miles away and had plenty of good reviews. We drove down the main strip and headed to our alternate destination. It's located inside a weird-looking interior strip mall that has a separate shared restroom with the rest of the businesses contained in the building. The restaurant staff wasn't too welcoming upon entry as we got seated and service was as warm and hospitable as the weather outside. We ordered a Calamari ($15.50) for appetizers, and we each got a Combination Pho ($18.50). I chose to change my noodles to Egg Noodles (which I typically do at other Pho places) and wifey opted for the Flat Noodles. (More commentary on this later). I know prices have gone significantly higher since the Pandemic and with the recent tariffs, jacked-up inflation and all other factors beyond our control, I typically don't bat an eye now with the cost of how much everything is worth nowadays....and expectedly so. The server didn't even mention that it was gonna cost us extra to change the Rice Noodle to our preference of noodle. Although I noticed it way after as it was stated on their menu (shame on us for not reading), it would have been nice if the server provided us with this info. As for the food, the Calamari was so-so and inconsistent. Some pieces were crispy and some pieces were soggy. The coating was very doughy and bland. They were also cut very thinly and lacked the snap. The Pho was basic and uneventful. But the worst part of the food was the garnishes. These were still soaked in water they there were literally dripping water on the sauce. Did they just grab them from a container, plopped them on a saucer and didn't even bother draining the water on a dry rack? You can see the pool of water left on the saucer plates. And I mentioned the warm service earlier. It was hard to flag down a server as they kept passing by us and almost felt like they were ignoring us even though we would wave and raise our hands as they delivered the food to our surrounding tables in an attempt to get their attention. They weren't wearing blinders, but it felt like they were. Also....don't get me started when patrons receive their orders first even though we placed our orders prior to their arrival. Yeah....I hate it when that happens. Lastly, let's backtrack on my commentary on the pricing. It was a sticker shock when we received the bill since I didn't realize it cost extra to replace the noodles (even though it's stated on the menu as I realized later on). It would have been nice if they server mentioned this, but service was lackluster from beginning to end.

This one even had sweet, perfectly cooked carrots. The fried rice was also spot-on: silky egg, peas, carrots, and that familiar flavor so many of us love. Lunch specials run from 11-3 and come with soup, an egg roll, and your choice of rice or noodles. Portions are massive. My only issue, and unfortunately it's a big one, was the service. After taking my order, the gentleman serving me never returned to my table. I couldn't get sweet & sour sauce for my egg roll, and my water was never refilled. I raised my hand several times, but he walked by as if I wasn't there. Finally after waiting for over ten minutes when I was over it, I stood up hoping someone would notice and assume I was trying to leave without paying. That worked and I was immediately handed my check. Of course I still had to ask for a to-go container. The food alone is a 5 star rating, but the service brings the experience as a whole down to a 3. I love Chinese-American food, and this kitchen gets it. Not sure if my race or that I'm a woman was an issue, or if I just got the worst server they have. I hope this reaches the right person because I would like to come back but being ignored and feeling so unwelcome is disheartening.
