Could have been much better, sarcastic moody front desk girl Gaby, if you are trying to keep a patient maybe don't comment on my child who was also a new patient. Dont roll your eyes because I did not have my xrays from my previous doctor, then loudly talk about it while im sitting there in the office in front of you. Also if you had an online option for me to complete paperwork , why give me a giant pile of forms to hand fill out if I could have done the electronically while I was there , then make it seem like you're doing me a favor by still agreeing to see me 30 minutes after my appointment time. I was placed as a last minute appointment, and did not realize I missed a call to me for patient documents and xrays before the appointment , also my husband set up the appointment for me and spoke with the office first ,I thought they had already collected my insurance info and all the pertinant info needed, so by the time i showed up 15 min early , i was under the impression this was taken care of. Doctor Prouse did not engage with me regarding my treatment , he talked over me to his hygienist, who was overall "nice", but really what I experienced was poor bedside manner, I asked for an estimated copay from front desk (Gaby), she said someone else would call me back with this info and they never did, I was told I needed a deep cleaning which is basically more money in their pocket, I have been regularly seen by my previous dentist and have never been recommended anything outside of a regular cleaning. I asked to opt for just a regular cleaning moving forward but the front desk refused to schedule me for it unless it was the deep cleaning, my husband and I both pay for good dental insurance , so I am wary of places that are only concerned about making money off of people. My mom is also a new patient and I am concerned for her well being and this office taking advantage of her. I much rather pay out of pocket to stay with my previous denist, as he is now out of my insurance network. I regret stepping foot in to this unprofessional establishment. On top of that, they wanted to charge me for a no show to an appointment they never confirmed with me. Just feels like a scummy dental office. I have also worked for 2 very great dentists , who have both now since retired, and bedside manner and customer service and patient care is what it should be about. I am so glad to find Dr. Prouse! After having a long and slightly nightmarish dental story, I decided that it was imperative to find the highest quality and most knowledgeable dental professional. So, as any doctor does, I looked up and down and all around searching for the most well educated dentist who is recognized by his peers. I called the top five offices and found that Dr. Prouse was kind enough to see me within one day. I called on a Sunday. Once there, I was greeted by upbeat and helpful Receptionist and was provided an opportunity to meet Dr. Prouse before making it into the exam room. The Dental Assistant was kind and gentle. She even softly sang lyrics in a beautiful voice to background music once and again. She even brought me a light blanket to cover my legs per my request. What a gem of an employee! The visit was overall a welcoming experience and Dr. Prouse was a good source of information and explained my treatment options thoroughly. Dr. Prouse has taken care of my dental management for many years. Tried another Dentist for a little while, closer to my home. Such a mistake. His office staff has a dedicated efficient follow up customer service theme that parallels the doctors excellent bed side manor. He used to take care of our sons until they grew up and moved away. When they are home visiting they always ask how he is doing. I tell them to stop by his office and say hello. I'm sure he would like to see them again. They have what we all expect from a professional Office which is plenty of experience to keep your teeth at 100% and great pain management during appointments if required. read more

My fiancé and I both left here with more issues than we came with. I went to have two cavities filled and once the numbness wore off I had so much pain in both teeth I couldn't eat on that side. I went back about a week later and he thought the pain was from my bite (even though I told him it wasn't) so he drilled the tooth for maybe 10 or 15 seconds and said I was done. I told him it still hurt but he sent me on my way like I was taking up too much time. My fiancé also had a crown done here and two days later he was in excruciating pain to the point where we searched for an open emergency dentist in the middle of the night, Dr. Prouse ended up doing a root canal and a crown the next day. About three months later the crown fell off and there's a huge open hole in his tooth. We have since gone to a different dentist who said the root canal was not complete. We thought we had found the perfect place because the office staff is so nice but every time we left an appointment we had a new issue that was going to cost thousands of dollars (after insurance). It felt like they were just trying to make money and the Doctor didn't care about us or listen to us. We take good care of our teeth so there's no reason why we should have these never ending problems. read more

Horrible! I thought I was in the wrong office. I felt I stepped into a therapy session and I was the therapist! This guy began to rant and rave about his miserable life and how horrible his staff is-while they were present! He even suggested I come work for him and replace his long time office mgr!!! Another great experience at Dr. Prouse's! Crystal, my hygienist, was thorough, friendly, and very informative. She spent a great deal of time discussing gum pocket length and answered all of my questions. She also seemed genuinely interested in my response about day to day life questions and that she wasn't just trying to make small talk. The new receptionist, Jenna, was very kind and helpful. I love a "Cheers" atmosphere when I go places, and to have everyone know your name. It was my first time meeting Jenna, but I can already tell I will get the Cheers attitude with her. Our entire family goes to Dr Prouse and we would not go anywhere else! Even though we have to make the drive from Orange County, we do so gladly because he takes good care of us, does great work and he and his staff have always treat us well! I recommend him to anyone who lives in San Diego County and even to people who live in Orange County. Dr. Prouse missed a diagnosis on routine x-rays, the result, extraction and expensive implants! He originally admitted his mistake and offered to pay for costly procedures at another office. Then, he went back on his word, basically saying sue me........my advice ......find another Denist who is honest, thorough, and stands behinds his work! Richard Prouse is none of those. read more
