Went to Richards Restaurant for breakfast. My husband had the tater tot bowl which was ridiculous! There were maybe 8 tots, some crumbled sausage and a plop of scrambled eggs for $7.99. I let so bad for him I gave him my 2 sausage patties to try to make it better for him! I can't imagine being a server and setting this down in front of a customer! Richards has shortened their open hours and I imagine because no one goes there anymore. read more

let me just start by saying how amazing the hostess was at this restaurant. She quickly had us seated and quickly got our drinks without any issues and with a smile on her face she was honestly just so nice and kind if I could've tipped the hostess I would've given her a 100. I am definitely going to be back there soon. It was a super clean store, and I took my nephew, and I was able to change him with their changing table in the bathroom. The food there was also immaculate. Their Chicken Strips are so good. You'll have no worries finishing a whole plate. read more

I wasn't expecting much from Richards when I dined there, just fast food that wasn't literally"fast food", but I was definitely disappointed with my meal. Overall the spot is cozy, exactly what you'd expect from a small-town Indiana diner. The menu is large and all of their food is very affordable (think country fare; meatloaf, ham and beans, friend anything). I ordered the Butterfly shrimp (possibly just a mistake at this type of spot), and my companions ordered the ham and beans, meatloaf and whitefish meals. Before our meal even came out, I noticed that I had been given a cup with some sort of food stuffs on it. Since our waitress was clearly in training and we were in a hurry, I choice to forgo my water rather than complain. Now for the food. None of it was good, that is absolute. My shrimp weren't horrible, but they had little seasoning. What really disappointed me was that the fries were utterly tasteless. This is a shame, because fries are a side that every place should be able to get right so long as they have salt and a fryer. No one in my group was happy with their meal, including my grandmother who has gone to Richards for years. Hoping today was just a bad experience! Stopped at Richard's because of a couple 5-star Yelp reviews and one of the few places open on Memorial Day. The restaurant itself is a large space. Both the women's bathroom and dining room were dirty and my booth seat had a big tear in it. We should have left but we're hungry and I needed a bathroom break from our road trip. We were greeted by a waitress right away for our drink order which she promptly brought. Another server (#4) came to take our order but I was still deciding. Big mistake. She spent more time with her visiting friend up front and looking at items in the toy box than remembering to return to take our order. I had the patty melt with cottage cheese and my husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich with cole slaw. His sandwich was a nice size and a traditional thin breaded piece of meat. He said it wan't bad. My patty melt, however, was the size of Wonder Bread and one half was missing a piece of the bread. Inside the tiny sandwich, the beef patty totaled, maybe, an eighth pound. Ridiculous!! I ate the whole sandwich in four bites. No server ever came back once we were served. I would never, ever revisit this less-than restaurant again and recommend you drive right by. read more

My family and I stopped here on the way home to Ohio after a trip to Michigan. We arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. We concluded this must be a local after-church favorite. The wait wasn't too bad - probably about 15 or 20 minutes. We grabbed a couple of the carry-out menus to look them over. It was a tough choice, because the dishes all sounded delicious. Out of the five of us, three of us got the pork tenderloin sandwich, and we all agreed that it was absolutely delicious. One of us got the breaded chicken sandwich, and she said it was fantastic, and made with "real" (not pressed) chicken. My husband got the chicken strips, and they, too were made with real chicken and were very tasty. Our waitress was very friendly. She was also very attentive at first, but then toward the end of our meal, it was hard to get her attention. We had asked her about the pies, but she dropped our bills off at the table without seeing if we wanted anything else and it was difficult to get her back to the table. Rather than trying one of the pies, I opted for the $1 dessert special they were having that day, which was the cheesecake. It was very good. I thought it might be a small piece, since it was only $1, but it was actually a full piece. Nice to have a special like that. Two others in my family tried pie, and enjoyed them very much. I got a taste of the chocolate cream pie and it was indeed yummy. One more thing. The prices are RIDICULOUS!! And I mean that in the best possible way. I felt like we were taking advantage of their kindness! read more

Standard diner fare, with 'down home' daily specials. I tried the BLT with a side of lima beans; nothing too fancy. Was VERY happy with the pie, though! Sour cherry!! When I asked, I was told they make them all on 'the farm' and bring them in. Whatever farm it is supplying those pies gets my vote! Overall, cheap hearty diner food. Give it a try! read more

Short and sweet. Stopped in last weekend and had the most obnoxious, inept, customer challenged server I ever had the displeasure of dealing with. After we were seated she stood not 5 feet away and complained about us coming in and spoiling her 8 hour smoke break. Food was awful as was our Anne Coulter's twin waitress. Thankfully she never checked back with our table, but she forgot the mashed potatoes, and gave us 3 checks for a table of 2. Y'all need to check your hiring practices, oh and also shorten your name from Richard's to just Dick's because that's what they were. read more

Delicious! Thought we were going to be stuck in fast food hell, until we happened upon this little spot off the highway. My husband had a giant meal that he loved and I had a grilled cheese (my favorite). The best part, however, was the pie. Our waitress said about seven different pies and said they were "a bit light on pies tonight." The pumpkin and peanut butter cream were great. I hope to be back to try the cherry at some point :) read more

Great place!! We were just Passing through & wanted breakfast. Richard's had a large parking lots which was perfect for us with our truck & camper. Service was quick, friendly & efficient. Have returned here several times since initial review (for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners) and the food and service continue to be outstanding. Wanted to let you know that the full breakfast menu is only available until 11 AM though, but its worth it to make it there during a weekday to get some of the special items served from that menu (the skillets are very good!) The wife and I have both tried several items from the lunch / dinner menus and wife has had several of their "daily specials" and we have yet to find anything that didn't meet our expectations. One thing that I really like about the place is the "salad bar" (not just salads, but slaw, pudding, beans, etc., you get the idea, its very varied!) Wife loves to go there most weeks after church as their foods are very tasty, service is impeccable, and desserts are awesome to boot! I think if you want something that is not fast food, this place should be on your short-list of places to go for American foods. read more

Bland, flavorless food, but at a good price. Breakfast anytime is best meal on the menu. Very old patrons aoparently go here everyday as waitresses call them out by their first name. I was only patron in the restaurant under 70 which seemed unusual for any restaurant. Atmosphere was throwback 1970s country decor feel. Good place for breakfast. read more

Wonderful fried chicken and great apple pie. If traveling, it's a good place to stop for a good meal.
