Hall's Tavern at Coventry has been around for a long time. Seems like we have hit the other Hall's but not this. So today we gave it a try and were pleased we did. The interior was well appointed and we were seated in the bar area but because we arrived before the rush, it was quiet and cool even though the weather outside was sweltering. My wife ordered theTin Cup burger with fries and baked beans. She loved her huge meal but couldn't finish it. I dug into the prime rib sandwich with coleslaw. Ordered takeout from here tonight as it was snowing pretty good and this was right by my hotel. The prime rib was very good 8.75/10 and I would definitely order again. Cooked perfectly medium rare and nice and juicy. Also $37 for a 16oz cut is pretty good in my opinion as someone from Chicago as back home you won't find a 16oz cut for under $50. Also loved that it comes with both raw horseradish and horseradish sauce, as well as au jus. I would come back here purely for the prime rib. I added on a $6 shrimp skewer which wasn't bad but the shrimp were pretty small, I'd give it a 6/10. Sides of broccoli and cauliflower were both about 3 pieces each and were ehh. read more

We saw a picture (on yelp) of this restaurant's"Southwest chicken salad" and that's what drew us to the restaurant. They have since changed the name of the dish, but we recognized it and ordered their "southwest salad", and it was delicious. Everything was prepared very well. It included a vegetable kabob, grilled to perfection. The food was brought out to us in an appropriate amount of time. The price of the meal was equal to its value. Blunt one line answers, mediocre food that was unseasoned and not even hot. She couldn't be bothered to ask how the meal was. Didn't offer a box, just swept away my plate and dropped the check. I frequent the halls restaurants often. I am never disappointed with the menu offerings and the sheer selection of food. The staff is attentive and always right there when I need a refill on my iced tea. It is a cozy place with a restaurant on one side and a bar on the other. No matter what your craving of the day may be chances are there's something on their menu that will suffice. This is one of the more relaxing Hall's restaurants in Fort Wayne. It has a unique old style tavern feel. You will find many of the same menu items and tastes here that you do at the other Hall's. The Tavern is a very large restaurant. They have an attractive bar area and lots of comfortable seating. They even have a large 60 person room that could be reserved for a rehearsal or birthday dinner!! The facility is dominated by wood walls, floors and fixtures. The facility is older but in great repair and very clean. The team here was right in top of things. There were plenty of staff on this visit. All were friendly and helpful. The menu is very large and diverse. You will find many items and recipes that are common to the other Hall's restaurants. We started with onion rings. This recipe is common to Hall's. The onion piece is somewhat thin with a lot of breading. The greasy taste dominates the ring taste as there is not much seasoning flavor. The ring is fairly crispy. I ordered the popcorn shrimp salad. This was very innovative. The popcorn shrimp was very good, thoroughly cooked and moist. A nice shrimp piece coated with a crisp breading. The salad came with a cup of cocktail sauce in case you wanted to dip them. The salad part was a fairly basic salad. Fresh lettuce and side vegetables. Nothing outstanding but a good-solid choice. The honey mustard dressing was delicious. I really liked the breadstick that came with the salad. It had a soft inside with a slightly crisp outside. The crust was buttery and had a slight garlic flavor. My wife loved her Sawmill Cobb salad and the lemon-honey dressing. This homemade dressing was outstanding. read more

We stopped in while on the road. Got a couple drinks and spilt an order of spinach artichoke dip. It came out hot with a generous portion of thick pita chips. While scooping up this hot, gooey dip with said pita my husband noticed something odd, it was about 1/2 a wooden toothpick. Very odd, had no reason to be there, all mixed in. We used a knife to cut through the rest, making sure there were no more woody bits. We aren't from here, didn't feel like making a fuss as the bar area was quite busy with what seemed to be locals. Our family of five had a great visit. Even our very picky son enjoyed his mini corn dogs and fries. The girls had spaghetti and chicken tenders: both were pleased. My wife had the Salmon Florentine and I had Prime Rib which were both delicious. The kids were shocked and amazed that ice cream was listed as a side dish on the kids menu. We compromised allowing each to have two "sides" (one was ice cream). All portions were very generous and the prices were extremely fair. We visited while passing through heading home out of state. If I could give negative stars for The Tavern at Coventry; I would. First: we sat down and ordered an appetizer. They were fried Wisconsin cheese curds. They came out barely fried and were not melted inside at all. Due to our inattentive waitress we chose to just deal with it. Next, we over hear the other super attentive waitress reviewing specials of the day with other patrons. When we asked our waitress if they had specials she said, "oh, I shld probably write those down huh?! I'll do that and then tell you because I don't know". She proceeds to spew they off without any care in the world. We order our food. Food is brought out. Husband ordered a Chicago burger No mushroom with fries and coleslaw instead of beans. I ordered Sinful Pasta and a side of cottage cheese. Pasta comes out. No cottage cheese. Chicago burger with fries comes out and has beans instead of slaw. We asked to have the beans replaced just like we originally requested and have slaw instead. A waitress that was not ours fixed that issue. Then my husband starts to take the bun off of his burger to verify there are no mushrooms only to discover that it's literally covered in mushrooms. He flags down the waitress that isn't ours and asks her to get our waitress. Our waitress finally comes, 10 min later, and looks at us and says "yeah?" Like we were inconveniencing her. We start to explain the issues and she says, well I know the other waitress already fixed the slaw issue for you" like we did something wrong. She takes the plate. LITERALLY 2 min later walks out with a 'new' plate and chucks it on the table and walks away. My husband pulls up the burger to discover the waitress had scrapped all the toppings off of the other burger, threw it in a new bun, and threw a literal slice of cold Swiss on top and brought it to us. The cheese wasn't even melted and the bun was cold. We got up and walked out. They didn't deserve money at this point and for what? A half eaten app and no food? Then a waitress we had not seen chased us down in the parking lot. We stopped the car, she ran to the window, and told us that we were old enough to know better than to effing fine and dash and to grow the f up. She herself was all of 18 years old and barely educated to say the least. She then proceed to tell us to never come back and that we were pathetic. No dear; you're pathetic and so was this establishment and the service and food this evening. We will never return and will certainly let tell everyone we know of our experience. read more
