The food is is very fresh and the portions are generous. You definitely get your money's worth. When it comes to variety, there are so many options, that it will take you forever to decide! this place needs training, spent over $92 for 4 subs, chips, drinks, macaroni, salad, the reason for the two stars, is because i get home open the subs and there was 2 thin layers of meat and 1 layer of cheese it was like eating a bread sandwich. Have been going to Richards since I was a kid. It has always beed a great family run business. Now that there is new ownership it's just not the same. Ok, ocean county leaves a lot to be desired in restaurants and casual food. Richard's is the exception and one of my favorite sub places period. (Luca Brasi's in Hoboken is my number one choice) . The sandwiches are creative and I haven't had a bad sandwich ever. I also like the classics, a whole Italian with everything and banana peppers on the side. Great meat, awesome roles, a pickle bucket , all supported by a friendly efficient staff. You can tell the best place around by the line of people waiting, this place is worth the wait. I mean this place is OK as far as sandwiches go, but it fails to really stand up above the crowd. I almost prefer Jersey Mike's to this place for a few reasons. First of all as soon as you walk in it takes a while to get the staffs attention. This is happened to me in more than one occasion while stopping here. The sandwiches are generally very mediocre. They are generously stacked with meat as well as any of the variety of condiments they offer. But the bread is Soul-less, like when white people dance to the electric slide at weddings. I mean you can get past it, but it takes a little bit out of your overall experience and that's the same with the sandwiches. If they just invested in a good bread it wouldn't be half bad. I liked it they carry Joe Tea which is not common in the area. The dining space is cramped but clean and well-maintained. read more

Although Richard's Sub World doesn't look like much from the outside, and you would just drive past it several times, it is probably the best sandwich shop in the area. They specialize in Italian subs, and they're all good. The "Silvio" is my personal favorite. The only thing is that they close promptly at 6 pm, so it's really more of a lunch place. read more

I've been coming to Sub World ever since I was a little kid. It reminds me of my childhood. I'm a huge fan of the generous amount of meats and cheeses that they pile on top. A lot of places like Subway give you a thin layer of turkey where Sub World doesn't skimp. I took my cousins here last weekend and we all got footlong subs. I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was really tasty. The chicken was smothered in buffalo sauce and I asked for lettuce and blue cheese on top. It really hit the spot. The prices are spectacular. They have a special that gives you a really big whole sub and a drink for only $7. I really do mean "big" when it comes to Sub World's subs. If you're ever in the mood for a really great sub shop on a tight budget, head to Sub World. You won't regret it. read more

Stumbled upon this gem on the way north from Atlantic City. We were looking for a Wawa or Quick Check on Rt. 9 and luckily we didn't find one. There is a rotating special that gets you a whole sub (huge by the way) and a soda for $7...woah! There was a $1 upcharge for wheat, but I can definitely live with that. Best subs in the area hands down... Maybe in Ocean County. This place has every type of hot or cold sandwich, soups and salads. The service is quick even though the place is always packed. The line goes quick and the food is always fresh. You can also get your cold cuts from them as well as Lottery tickets. Great drink selection and chips as well. The short lady with the glasses is my favorite as she is always eager to please and customize a sandwich the way you want it. I actually love her.
