What kind of establishment in today's day and age with so many either vegan,paleo,lactose, all the things that people are looking for and this ice joint doesn't even have the nutritional facts of any of the products they sell and sell to others to sell. As a women with diabetes it would be nice to know the sugar content of one of the lighter choices they offer. Called also and women who picked up did not have that info either. Crazy. I have been coming to Richardson's for ice cream since I was a kid growing up in Peabody. Now I bring my own kids! They have the best ice cream around. The lines may be long in the summer, but there's a reason for that. You can't beat a sugar cone with jimmies on a hot summer night. read more

Best ice cream that I am aware of. This business is part of the community and participates in local events. Their fresh milk is excellent and it's my experience that it lasts longer than grocery store milk(perhaps because its as fresh as it gets). I suppose the only downside is that it is a real dairy farm with real dairy farm smell depending upon the wind direction. What can you say about Richardson's? They have the best ice cream in the Boston area, bar none. They have no sugar added coffee ice cream that is absolutely delicious. It tastes exactly like the real thing with no added sugar for people who have dietary restrictions. The rest of the flavor line up is so great. I guess that's why there's always a line there. It does move quickly. I have never waited longer than 15 minutes even at its most crowded times. It really is THE best spot spot for premium ice cream. read more

This was a fun family activity! They have a mini golf with 2 different paths to choose from which was fun! We had ice cream the lines get busy in the summer, so be prepared to wait in line for a while! There's clean bathrooms available. I will preface this review with the statement that I have always enjoyed Richardson's ice cream. I have fond memories of hot summer days playing mini golf and then looking at the dairy cows while enjoying a cone of ice cream. Those memories were tainted when my husband brought me, pregnant wifey, home a container of ice cream and we discovered their ice cream base has high fructose corn syrup???! Not only that, but there was a barrage if other non ice-cream related ingredients. I don't understand how I can justify paying $6 for a container of ice cream with more chemicals than natural ingredients. I enjoy supporting local agriculture, but why bother when they produce products that contain just as much filler/chemicals as a large conglomerate brand and cost more... I think i'll be planning on making my own ice cream from now on. read more

Richardson's Flagship location was an okay way to spend a 70 degree March day. However, if you are expecting to eat amazing ice cream while gazing on the 300+ cows out in the pasture, think again. The ice cream at the stand tasted nothing like the Richardsons the restaurant I used to work for ordered. While alright, it was not worth the 40 minutes drive. Sadly, the adult dairy cows are not put out in the pasture, and all 300+ are squished into a barn, also know as a CAFO. The baby calves are kept chained to small huts outside. While I understand it is common practice for baby dairy cows to be separated from their mothers within an hour after birth, and then kept separated from other cows to prevent disease, I did read that disease spreads much more easily in CAFOs, than it would with grass fed dairy cows. Also, it made me wonder how many baby cows break their legs after getting tangled in the chains. While Richardson's has a large field, where cattle could graze instead of living out their lives in a CAFO, it is currently used as a driving range... quite the cash cow. I know Richardson's is not doing anything illegal or different than what most dairy farmers do to make a living, but it is still disappointing to see animals being treated this way. read more

They never get to see places like this: The best ice cream ever anywhere in the universe made on a working dairy farm where there are like 300 cows on the premises and calves to play with. An awesome 36 hole miniature golf course. Driving range baby. Reasonably priced. Batting cages. For full effect, bring very cute kids and play all 36 holes of mini golf. We had, strawberry cheesecake, mint chocolate chip, maine black bear, and peppermint stick but I also suggest maple wanut and butter pecan. I bleed ice cream and this place is one of the best. Have you ever been to an ice cream and thought "gee, there's not enough flavors." Yeah, you won't have that problem at Richardson's. They put Baskin Robbins to shame, both in quality and quantity. Speaking of quantity, if you want a large, order a small. A small is insanely large and cheap, but that's probably due to having the dairy on hand. If you want a small (which is probably a normal person's medium), order a kiddie size. If you want to feed the whole family, order a large. Another thing of note is the milk. Extremely delicious and maybe half the price of the supermarket, without that processed flavor. To me personally, the milk has a slightly nutty flavor, which I love. Richardson's is great because you can actually see the cows that made your ice cream. Well, they didn't make it. That would be some pretty talented cows! The guys who run the farm actually made it. The cows just produced the milk. You can go around back to see them. There's also a putt-putt golf place to go to and a driving range where you can practice hitting some (golf) balls. There's batting cages as well. Great place to come for part of the day with family or friends, especially when it's warm but not muggy. read more

What a great warm weather retreat Richardson's is. Play a round of mini golf and then go for some awesome ice cream - what else do you need on a hot afternoon? There are two mini golf courses (and a driving range and batting cage), and I recommend checking them both out. But bring your bug spray 'cause they both have water features and can be a little buggy, especially in the evening. The cows behind the ice cream building can get a little smelly for the further course if there's a breeze, if that bothers you stick to the closer course. Lots of ice cream flavors and the young people working the counters have always been friendly. read more

Cows in the back, mini-golf to the right, driving range to one side, batting cages around the corner...this. is. HEAVEN. It's tempting to get ice cream cones in the summer, but I'd stick with a cup when it's hot out -- the last time the BF took me to get a frosty treat to beat the heat, my arm was literally dripping with melted strawberry ice cream by the time we walked 8 feet to the benches behind the shack. And, beware of Richardson's generous scoops -- a "small" is a small mountain, and "child sized" is more than enough for a hungry adult. Unless you want your gravestone to read "brain frozen during attempt to eat own weight in ice cream," just say no to the "large." read more

You can get all sorts of dairy amazingness from the shop. My favorite is the frozen yogurt. I can't believe it's not ice cream! This has to be the most amazing ice cream parlor around! I would give them more stars if it was allowed. The total experience was just great. Lots of parking space on a very hot humid day, I actually got a spot right In front of the window. Lots of open windows to serve you. The server was awesome. He was very generous with samples. There was so many different flavors to choose from. I asked the young man serving me about the size, what he failed to tell me was that each scope is the size of three scopes in other places. I'm not a very big eater but wanted at least three flavors since they had so many unusual flavors. When he handed me my ice cream my eyes just popped with the amount of ice cream I was given for just $4.52! My only regret was that I didn't have my dog with me to finish what I was unable to eat. read more

This weekend was my first mini-golf game of the season, which I hope will be one of many. I won, which is a semi-rarety. Maybe I shouldn't have beaten my Mom on Mother's Day, but I did. Golf first. Two courses, nothing to intricate with them, but they're fun and kept clean. This place can get really busy during the Spring/Summer and most of the course is in direct sunshine, so be prepared! Seven bucks for a round of mini-golf isn't bad at all in my book. And even better that you can follow it up with..... ...Ice cream, which is delicious. Huge servings and too many flavors to choose from, but still delicious. Like many ice cream places, I try to go for the kiddie size as I just can't take that much. On a warm day here you can smell poop. Yup, when the temp gets high and a slight breeze comes through the smell fills the air. I don't have a huge problem with that, I mean I don't like smelling poop, but it's kind of cool to have the cows there and not just have a generic ice cream stand. You can also buy fresh dairy products while you're there. I've yet to hit the batting cages or the driving range, but this may just be the year that I do. But maybe not, when you have mini-golf and ice cream do you really need more? I'll save all my skills for the mini-golf course, where as of today I'm am the champion...well, at least based on one round of golf against two people....I have hope for the rest of the season though! Whenever my wife and I go up to to Massachusetts to visit her sister and her family, we HAVE to come here at least once.. okay more than once. The portions are ridiculously huge.. A kiddie size cup is more like a medium/large size in NYC. My personal favorite: Death by Chocolate. If you have kids, you can also go to the back to see all of their own cows. How do you celebrate finding your perfect wedding dress? With fresh-made ice cream, of course! We (my mother, sister the bride, aunt & I) came here in the middle of winter, and not only the ice cream but the frozen yogurt was incredible. The portions are huge, the prices are more than fair. The staff was patient while we stood there and drooled over the menu. (Make sure you get extra napkins.) They also sell ice cream to take home. I couldn't imagine buying my everyday milk here, but that's exactly what happened while we were eating. Very cool. Then, there's the rest of the farm: the barn with cows to visit, the mini-golf and amusements. It must be a mobscene in the summer!
