Extremely rude dispatcher. Called AAA on 7/19/2025 at 4:00 PM for towing service for our Ford hauling a camper trailer. They routed us to Richie's for service. Richie's refused to service us because we are roadtripping with our dog. That's fine and company policy is company policy. However, after talking to AAA again and informing them Richie's was refusing service, AAA messed up and routed us BACK to Richie's. Again, AAA's fault but we as customers have NO control over AAA. We tried to get a different company. When Richie's call us back, the towing person said they WOULD take us WITH the dog! Not a problem! We were excited-- already having waiting on the side of the road for 2 hour that finally someone would be coming to get us. Then, someone else from Richie's called us immediately after (the person from the beginning) to say that the dispatcher who had just called us was totally wrong and they would not be coming to get us. She was extremely short and rude with us as if we were the ones who made the mistake and as if we were the Richie's employee who agreed to service us. Utterly ridiculous. Said it was a liability issue to leave us on the side of the road when I asked if I can stay with the dog in the trailer while my mother rides in the towing vehicle.... but here we are now indefinitely on the side of the road? Got a flat Friday night driving from Rocky Mount to Fremont in Black Creek. Car was perfect..still has paper tags. There Time getting there idc bc whatever. It took him like 40 mins to hook the car up for whatever reasons per tracking. Idk bc I left the key. He drops car off. I get up the next morning to put the new tire on and everything seems ok. Why?? Bc no water or anything on my cement. I drive 2 minutes and realize my car is running hot. Research and see a big hole in my radiator. No water in the radiator or reservoir. So that means it leaked out otw to my house on the tow. They tell me he didn't do it. SO WHO DID IT. He dropped it off 6 hrs ago and it hasn't been moved until the new tire. They say they don't hook up the car. Ik they lying bc how you secure it to the rack?? Just the tires?? Not only that. They towed my car from the front AFTER MAKING SURE IT WAS A RWD. So if my drive train mess up that's on me too huh. Don't trust them for roadside. They liars. They could've just bought the radiator at the junk yard and I'd been happy. Our battery died and when we called we told them battery replacement, got a quote and made sure they had the battery They didn't bring the battery with them and by the time they got to us it was the end of mechanics shift soooo they made us wait until the following morning The next day the manager came out because we complained and he still didn't bring the battery Manager went back to shop to pick up battery but when he came back he had no tools. My car failed inspection. I needed it fixed and did not know what to do. The people at RICHIES were awesome. Very personable , respectful and knowledgeable. I was able to get my car in same day and everything was explained on what work was done. I was even given a ride home and picked up when my car was ready. It means a lot when spending your money that you are given respect and patience. I would DEFINITELY recommend and use them again. read more

My wife called me and stated they were rude and eventually told her that because she refused to SIT where they told her they did not want her business. I called to ask what was going on and they told me my wife was rude and cursing out everyone there. I have been with my wife for 20+ years I don't believe ritchies in the slightest. I ended my call with the owner, Shon Richardson, at 8:19 pm, and the tow truck arrived at approximately 8:40 pm. Mr. Vertis was very professional and knowledgeable, easing my anxiety and explaining everything clearly. I highly recommend their services; they were easy to work with. If you are involved in an accident, you have the right to choose the company you prefer. I hope you never have to experience it, but if you do, please consider Richie's. I am absolutely appalled by the service I received from Richie's Automotive. I hit a deer going 75mph and my insurance dispatched towing services to come pick up my totaled car. The towing services happened to get Richie Automotive. The tow truck driver called trying to find out location as he was lost. We told him where we were at and said he would be there in 10 minutes. He never arrived even though we called him three times and he did not answer. I called the office of Richies Automotive and was told by someone named Anika that they had to put the call on another driver and they would be there within 90 minutes. I told them I was leaving but would leave the key in the center console, to which Anika said wasn't a problem. I called Anika back about an hour later and she confirmed with me that my Jeep was picked up and on the way to Caliber Collision in Raleigh. This was Monday, 11/15. Now today, Wednesday, 11/17, I still hadn't heard from Caliber Collision and gave them a call to see a status on my Jeep. They said they never received my vehicle. I immediately called my insurance who then called Ritchie's Automotive. They spoke with Anika once again and she said they had no record of my vehicle being picked up. I was straight up lied to when the situation was already stressful to begin with. I had to call Highway Patrol and 4 different police stations trying to find my Jeep and no one could help me. My boyfriend then drove 40 minutes to find that my vehicle was still there on the side of the highway. We had to pay out of pocket for our own tow truck and now my Jeep won't get into the shop until Thursday. Richie's Automotive should really consider who they employ because I had 2 different people on their team point blank lie to me. Last few days have been hell. Glad today a is new day and heading back home. Sadly our trip ended early due to a car issue we faced. What was a 1 hour job turned into an 10 hour fiasco due to the incompetent and mismanaged staff at Richie's automotive recommended by AAA. We are disappointed that AAA recommends Richie's Automotive a shady business owned by Shaun- who was unprofessional, condescending, provided false accusations, false knowledge of her mechanic experience and gave us a 10 hour run around to scam us out of state customers. We have documented countless phone calls, images, of how poor this establishment conducted themselves. Called the police because we asked questions in regards to the condition of our car. They literally made us wait across the street from the establishment because they didn't want us to see their incompetence. 10 hours later the only thing they did was break our jeep even more by breaking the speed sensor (which you OWE us). Got our car back, drove it to the next parking lot with 1 LUG NUT holding the wheel. All we asked for was honesty, had they told us from the beginning they did not have time or experience we would have gone elsewhere. An angel was sent from above a local Wilson local , Hamm family and Willis came to our rescue. Friendliest wilson locals that not only took the five minutes to talk to us, offered us water, a seat, and help to fix our car in the dark in a parking lot. No fancy tools from a shop needed. Just honest kind hearted people that more of this town needs. this was Our first time in wilson NC gave us a rough experience but fortunate one to be grateful to still be alive, and understand we meet people for a reason. Lesson learned- The reviews Are true on social media this company is a ran by con artists out to scan not only locals but travelers as well. Which all their reviews explained it. Called Triple A for a jump start. Sent out 2 criminals from Riches Towing. I needed a battery and they sold me one and installed it. They seem like really nice gentleman until 36 hours later the credit card number was trying to be used to purchase 400 dollars worth of items at 7:30 in the morning. Card is used only for emergencies...so there is only one 'source' for this fraud...Riches Towing in Wilson North Carolina...PERIOD! So my advice to anyone is to stay far far far away from doing any business with this FRAUDULENT company. read more

5 STARS!!! i was driving back to NJ on i795 in Wilson,NC and my battery died since i didn't know my alternator was bad. I called AAA and in the pouring rain Craig came out and helped me and my mom out and gave us a lift to Walmart. I was able to get 2 new maxx 5yr. battery's and and changed the second one in rite before Baltimore tunnel so i didnt get stuck on accident and made it all the way home but the main part was Craig. I would not recommend this business to anyone. They responded to my Roadside Assist call after i was involved in a collision. When the driver arrived, he connected my car for the tow and then said it would be $30 cash only to cover the special equipment. I know I should have called my insurance company right then, but did not thinking my company would not send out anyone that was shady. He took my money, but when I asked for a receipt, he said he didn't have any. His boss would email me one the next day. I never heard from his boss or anyone else in the company. When I called repeatedly to ask for a receipt, I only got the run-around and less than acceptable answers about the receipt. In spite of claiming to want me to be a satisfied customer, my calls were never returned and still no receipt. This amounts to EXTORTION. Oh, they wouldn't respond to my insurance company's requests for a receipt either claiming they had no record. I am doing my best to see that they are blackballed and never have another call from my company's roadside assist. Stay away from this company! read more

My car broke down at a busy intersection and the police called for towing, I explained to the tow guy that I wanted it towed to a particular company and he then tells me that's not how it works and my car will be towed to this company and charged storage fee. I have AAA and I informed Richies that once it's towed to their company AAA will not tow it again. So the driver of Richies was going to tow MY vehicle anyway after I told him no thanks I'll find another tow. This driver was very rude and Nasty. So the owner calls my husband to get a better understanding of what happens and she then informs us that she told AAA that I refused the tow and if AAA calls them for another tow she'll make sure it takes 3 hours. I was in the hot heat with two small children for 2 hours bc this company blocked the next tow. I'm a gold member of AAA and I've never been treated this way. read more

Had to call Wilson Police Department community service to get a resolution. This was probably the worst experience I have ever had with towing. When they printed a receipt it just had the total amount but not actually what I was being charged for. When I was being checked out, I looked to see what was written on the computer and it said $250 for an accident and $45 a day for storage (even though i was told $35 the day of my accident). When I asked for a receipt to be sent to my email they had the final cost of my accident to be $400. accident $250- clean up $100 (which if i knew it would be $100 for them to sweep, I would've done it myself) and $50 for pull out. so what is "cost for accident" even supposed to mean. Plus is took an hour and 17 minutes for them to email me a receipt..... ridiculous. When they charged my card it was charged $12 more than what my bill said as well. Very shady, and feel my money was just stolen out my hands. The people there act like they are your friends the whole time and say you're getting a "deal" which I don't feel that $400 for towing from an accident, $45 a day for storage, and then $80 to get is towed to a salvage yard is a deal. When I got it towed to a salvage yard they sent us and the driver to a place that was moved to a different location. What a joke of a business. The Owner even had to review it to get it higher stars.
