Stopped in their beautiful storefront location in Brunswick, Ga after a delightful lunch at Indigo Coastal Shanty. The distillery & showroom are open for you to see & walk around. We were treated to a tasting and informative talk about the distillery and rum production. Bought two different bottles. Can't wait to make the pineapple coconut cocktail we sampled.

I guess the owner was filming something so we couldn't get a tour... so we just did a tasting... and were charged for a tour and tasting. The tasting was fine but a bit disappointed in the experience. I tasted the rum but didn't really get a full experience so i can't speak to atmosphere or anything past that. *call before you book a tour*

We did the complimentary tour with Emily. It was very informative and it's always great to check out local Brunswick businesses. The tree employees there do it all. Very personal and special to get their bottles handwritten born on dates. Great tour! If you aren't interested in drinking during a tour and want to save it for a bottle purchase, hop online a book the complimentary tour and check out the place. It's clean and fun!

There is a simple beauty of the building when you walk in- nestled in the Historic District in Brunswick. This area seems to becoming revitalized, which is exciting! The distillery offers different tours and we opted for the free one and jumped in to the one that had just started. They offer 5 rums in the tasting that vary so much in flavor. The Virgin Coastal Rum- our guide described this one as a great rum for mixing cocktails. It is unaged, unfiltered and unaltered. 86 proof- this one would work well with anything that called for rum Richland Rum Classic- aged 4-5 years in charred white oak barrels, this had a flavor upgrade from the Virgin. Cask Strength Old Georgia Rum- the Cask Strength Expression is direct from the barrel. This had body, the flavor filled the mouth. This one was one of my favorites. Chateau Elan Port Cask Exchange- this one is a collaboration and I recently discovered port finished Rums and they are amazing! This one and the Cask Strength were the two I would buy in a heartbeat- and this one we did take home. Terrapin Imperial Milk Stout Cask Exchange- this one was John's favorite, another collaboration- There was a little something in the flavor I was on the fence about, but I am not a beer drinker- so it wasn't surprising that I was undecided on this one. It did have a little creamy finish. The distillery itself was impressive. Their copper stills were works of art, they don't have a lot of room for barrels- they had one wall full and that was it. The upstairs tasting room was lovely with great views of the downtown street. Our guide was lovely and attentive and I can't wait to return and see what is new! We also tried a couple of their craft cocktails- packaged to go, a blueberry lemonade (my fav) and a pineapple-coconut cocktail- both were delicious.

I expected this to be way lower key being that it's located in Brunswick. No and no. We loved this place on First Friday. Our group and other parties fit nicely in this place. All while social distancing. The actual distillery equipment is centered in the building and two floors make for an awesome view of the process. There's also a large balcony overlooking Newcastle Street and all the festivities. Staff mix drinks like science experiments. Super precise and taste great. Easily 5 stars. Hopefully they stay in town.

Great distillery! The quality and standards they follow to make sure you are getting the best rum quality is very impressive! If you are a whiskey or bourbon drinker they several great options! Their white rum is so delicious and is great alone or as a mixer. Also don't forget to try their Almost Rum syrup. Another great bonus is one of the owners gave us our tasting (tried all their products) and he was so informative and friendly!

Great find from a billboard off I95, only about a 6 mile detour off the highway and well worth it. Really gorgeous place in historic downtown Brunswick. Their rum is delicious and unique and it was a very friendly little place. They make their rum from sugar cane grown on their own farm in Georgia, and distill from full sugar cane mash, not just molasses, which gives their rum a unique character. It is pricey, with bottles ranging from $45-95, but it is a quality product and worth the price. You can sample all five for $25. They have the character and drinkability of good bourbons, these aren't simply for tropical mixed drinks. We reeally enjoyed our visit and will surely enjoy the bottles of rum we're taking down to Florida for vacation!

25 dollars opened the door to an enjoyable tour short and sweet 20-30 min of knowledge poured from a great guide followed by a tasting that was extremely enjoyable. The Rum is Farm to Table and free range so healthy right?

Nice, short, but informative free tour. Paid extra for the tasting which was worth it. Very knowledgeable staff. Excellent, high quality product. Delicious rum,(and making Georgia proud!) Definitely worth a trip if you like rum! I was sad to see they don't offer cocktails like I had seen others mention online but husband loved it & got a gift box to take home with us.

What a Great job refurbishing this building. The entry is a eye catcher as your view is the distillery in the back with large copper vents and then brick aligns the walls surrounding. They have 2 floors of fun each has its own bar which serves samplings and special cocktails of the day. They had a vendor SOH BBQ this day with some great BBQ to go with your Rum.Everyone was having a great Friday but they needed more servers to match the crowd. Each Rum I sampled was a doer!

Went for visit to Brunswick bc got a Groupon for a distillery tour and tasting. We had no idea there is a super cute downtown area with little shops and restaurants! The tour was interesting and informative, the guide should talk louder but he did a good job. The tasting was fun, it was 5 of their rums and one of them is 120 proof!! That one you can feel alllll over your body! Downstairs while waiting on tour they have rum slushees $10 that were very yummy and strong. The tasting is upstairs in bar area and they have cocktails you can buy for $8. Our group tried the mojito and painkiller they were both very good. Def worth the time to drive to Brunswick and take tour. Lots of places around to check out also

I enjoyed the tour given by Robbie. I enjoyed learning about the history of how Richland Rum came to be, the distilling process, and different kinds of rum made there. At the end of the tour, we paid for a flight tasting. These rums are pure, delicious, potent, and expensive (rightly so as they are made from sugar cane)!

This is a picture of the mojito I made.

I think this might be one of their more under rated themes. If not this, then their retro them for certain. It's almost hard for me to write about their cocktails nowadays because they're always so good. I went ahead and attached a LOT of photos to this review of cocktails from the past several themes they've done as well. I just love the fact that they always have real craft cocktails, not just a minor twist on something that they're charging more for. It's worth noting that they always offer Mocktails and THC infused drinks for the non alcohol drinkers. We didn't try as many things as we usually do but we REALLY liked what we did get a chance to try. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Cabana Boy was my personal favorite. That's the whiskey sour that comes as a pairing in the Twin Palms special. My wife liked everything enough that she didn't have a favorite. If you haven't been to Grey Matter Distillery; go check out this theme because it's a good one. Then make sure to keep on eye on them because I'm guessing their Retro Theme will be coming back next and I'm always excited for that one too.
