Two places in life that you have to go to for assistance after a traumatic event are an Emergency Room/Hospital and/or an Auto Body Repair Shop. Something bad has happened for you to be seeking out either of these operations unless your expecting a baby and your water broke. Typically the only people leaving one of these two establishments with a smile are the proud parents of a newborn. Insurance quote "covers" you for utilizing their services but what good is that if your deductible is huge, your vehicle is not totaled or your injured/dead. So imagine my surprise when I brought a damaged vehicle to a local Auto Body Repair vendor and heard the simple phrase "How can we help you"?. The folks at Rich's Automotive in Emerson are in the "Customer Service" business. Much like the staff at the Emergency room who also Repair bodies (lol!) they exhibit a degree of concern and sympathy for what you just went through. My experience at some (not all) of the competition over the years has been the lack of an iota of compassion. I don't even know where to begin! I am happy to say that there are still such LOVELY people in this world! Rich is a super down to earth man who takes pride in his work. My new car was swiped by another and needed some TLC. I was skeptical about the business at first as it was recommended to me by the person that swiped me, but I am glad I took the chance! I showed up with what appeared to me to be massive, (think expensive), scrapes to the front end of my car. I was greeted by Rich and Vinny who both are extremely engaging, personable and friendly. After looking at the damage, Vinny took a certain solution and rubbed nearly all of the "scrapes" away. It turns out that most of the damage was simply paint transfer from the initial contact. Mind you I went to a couple of other places first and was quoted between $700-900. It's refreshing to see a local business run by good and honest people. Two weeks ago, I had an accident and Rich's Automotive were called to tow my car to their place. Although the car was totaled, I have to thank Rich for staying on top of the situation, calling me to make sure I took my belongings from the car. Rich is a great guy, and keeps his promise and exceeds your expectation. If your auto needs body shop work, i definitely recommend Rich's Automotive. They did a fine job repairing/painting my car's hood, front grill, panels, etc. His guys are warm and friendly, and they even look around your car to touch up minor scratches for you. My 2010 Forrester got rear ended and the tailgate, bumpers, rear quarter panels and exhaust system were crumpled. The car only had 53k miles but the accident made it noisy and dangerous. My insurance company recommended Rich's as a preferred facility. We met Rich and he told us, "bring it back next Monday and it'll be done in 2 weeks." I met Rich 20 years ago when the insurance company sent me to him after an accident. The shop did a great job fixing my car. Someone recently scraped the front end of my elderly mother's car in a parking lot, and I called Rich to see if he could repaint the small section. He treated my mother as if she were his own...really sweet and patient with her. We supplied the touch-up paint and he had the scrape fixed perfectly, and at no-charge.
