I had a very disappointing experience with this business on two separate occasions. The first experience was for a scraping noise while accelerating. After inspecting my car, I was told the issue was the motor mounts and was quoted around $1,500 for the repair. Since I knew motor mounts were not worth anywhere near that amount I chose to replace them myself for $50. However, this did not resolve the issue because the diagnosis was incorrect. I later identified the actual problem as a parking brake wire contacting the driveshaft, which was a simple and inexpensive fix. This represents a significant misdiagnosis and a large difference in cost. The second experience involved calling ahead twice to confirm availability for a resonator delete as the shop is about an hour away from me. I adjusted my work schedule and drove out based on that confirmation only to be told upon arrival that they likely would not be able to complete the job. I was advised to wait which I did for about two hours but ultimately the work was not done. This resulted in lost time, money, and other inconveniences. I want to clarify that I did not miss any appointments both visits were made after confirming availability in advance. Clear communication is especially important when customers are traveling long distances and planning around work schedules. While I understand that scheduling problems can happen the combination of being told services were available when they were not along with the earlier misdiagnosis led to a huge lack of confidence in this business. Don't take a high end car there, they assume you are an idiot, they will tell you it takes 3 days for exhaust work, translation we want to joy ride your car. If you drive a Toyota you will be fine. read more

Ricks was recommended over 10 years ago by Willfords auto repair who has service star vehicles for over 16 years and although they work on cars, they recommend all muffler work and outsource to Ricks. We feel very fortunate that we have found both quality and mechanic, and somebody that is honest with regard to mufflers as we recently had a small pinhole. It was getting louder in an exhaust system that was put onto my vehicle when we first went there years ago... We showed up without an appointment And were greeted professionally and courteously with prompt action taken, and the truck put on a lift within minutes and a repair was provided at no charge?! I had the misfortune of having the hangers on my exhaust system fail, resulting in a dragging muffler. Since I was on a trip back to New York, I decided to have the car towed to a muffler shop to be repaired. I chose Rick's Muffler in St. Augustine, based on excellent reviews on Yelp. It may have been the best decision of my trip. Once the shop opened up (M-F 8 to 530), they took me right in, diagnosed the problem, proposed a solution, and started to get me back on the road. I returned my rental car, and, by the time I returned, my car was repaired and I was back on the road. They did the best repair for the least amount of money. The fix worked perfectly. My compliments to David, Rick, and Rick's mom for taking good care of a stranger in a stressful situation with kindness and consideration! My wife and I were on vacation from Wisconsin. We heard a loud clicking sound in the engine. We stopped by Ricks Muffler and they checked out our car immediately. The news wasn't good. We had broken bolts in our exhaust manifold. After further checking, our mechanic found our manifold was also cracked and needed to be replaced. The problem was the manifold would take five days to be shipped there. We needed to be back in Wisconsin in Two days. Rick made a couple of calls and had it expedited to be shipped the next day. Called up and made an appointment to get the muffler replaced on my wife's car, since it had an obnoxiously loud humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. After their initial inspection, they discovered it was not, in fact, the muffler, but another issue within the rear of the car. They explained the situation, offered me a few different pricing options, and quickly gave me an appointment for the next day when they would have the parts in. Showed up the next day, and they immediately took the vehicle in, got it repaired unbelievably quick, and had me back on the road in no time. The work was exactly as quoted- no hidden fees or jacked up prices, and they did a quality job on the work. I thought this was just a muffler shop, but they offer all auto repairs. It's not just mufflers and pipes, but Air Conditioning, Cooling Systems, and more under and over the hood! They actually know what they are doing and do what the say at the price quoted. No "Bravo Sierra" involved! They get the right parts for the job, keep good records and if there is a problem down then line they make it good. As an owner of two "older" Chrysler products (now Fiat which is even worse) Rick's is my go to for any service work they can handle. Last month, I got a quote for a flow master dual exhaust, installed, for 430.00 out the door. We had a choice of two styles, so we went with the rolled chrome. The job was completed within two hours.
